I can’t believe this company has only been rated average, I have bought several cars over the years and I can honestly say that my experience in buying a car from them was above average, Sam was very helpful and friendly, he didn’t pressure me to buy the car and left my husband and myself to inspect it. He did everything he said he would, although there was still a 7 month MOT on the vehicle he gave me a fresh MOT and service, he replaced the tyre repair kit and had my car valeted, it was immaculate when I collected it. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he responded to my messages within 5 minutes. I know it can be daunting buying a new car, especially when you read negative reviews, I almost didn’t go to this company but so glad I did, I am delighted with the service given and would recommend them 110%, I certainly wouldn’t hesitate in buying from them again in the future.

DO NOT USE. Very friendly when I was buyin. Very intimidating when I made a complaint. Cars clutch went within 75 miles. Hydraulics too. Cost me £700 air con broken. Went back to garage and was made to wait until there were 2 men. Then felt intimidated. Pls buy elsewhere. Since then I’ve had two friends tell me looking for car. I warned them away from this garage. Word gets around.

Car was ready when agreed. Had an issue a few weeks after purchase which was resolved a couple of days later.So far all has been ok since then

⭐ 1 STAR — AVOID THIS GARAGE

I am extremely glad I checked the online reviews before paying a deposit or committing to buying anything from Ideal Car Centre. Based on my experience dealing with them, I would strongly advise potential buyers to do their research before handing over any money.

I contacted the garage regarding the white Porsche Cayenne, registration DA16 LSU, which has already been mentioned in another review. I spoke to a member of staff called Sam and found his attitude on the phone incredibly rude, dismissive and unprofessional.

I asked several perfectly reasonable questions about the vehicle because I live almost four hours away and obviously wanted to establish its condition before making such a long journey. Sam's initial response was simply: "Read the advert." The whole reason I was calling was because the information I wanted WASN'T in the advert.

What concerned me even more was that some of the information I was given/listed about the vehicle did not appear to add up, including the number of previous owners and mileage information. I also wasn't told about significant cosmetic damage that I later became aware of, including the vehicle apparently having been keyed along one side.

After seeing the previous review mentioning that the Porsche had been inspected by 911 Virgin, I decided to contact them myself. They confirmed to me that they had seen the vehicle at the beginning of July. I was told that, following their inspection/road test, they advised the previous purchaser to return the vehicle because of the problems they identified.

According to what I was told during that conversation, there were concerns relating to the drivetrain, a water pump fault requiring attention/replacement, and additional noises apparently coming from the transfer box.

If a specialist has genuinely identified issues of that nature, why wasn't any of this mentioned to me when I specifically called to ask about the condition of the car?

Instead, I felt I was being pushed to leave a deposit to reserve it.

That was another huge red flag for me after reading reviews from other customers who claim they have experienced difficulties getting deposits returned. Needless to say, I did NOT leave a deposit, and I am extremely glad I didn't.

I also asked who provides their warranties and was told the warranty is handled in-house. For somebody living nearly four hours away, that was another major concern because any warranty issue could potentially mean having to take the vehicle all the way back to them.

The biggest issue for me, however, was the attitude. Sam came across as rude, dismissive and more interested in getting a deposit from me than properly answering reasonable questions about a car they are advertising for sale.

After what I experienced personally, what I subsequently discovered, and what I was told when I contacted the specialist mentioned in another review, there is absolutely no chance I would purchase this Porsche or any other vehicle from this garage.

If you're considering buying Porsche Cayenne DA16 LSU, I would strongly recommend doing your own independent checks and having the vehicle professionally inspected before paying a penny.

And if you're considering buying ANY vehicle from this garage, do your homework first. Read the Trustpilot reviews, Google reviews and reviews across other platforms — particularly the detailed negative reviews, not just the five-star ratings.

I nearly travelled four hours and potentially handed over a deposit. Thankfully, I researched the car and garage first.

AVOID. I certainly wouldn't trust them with my money.

**Avoid Ideal Car Centre at all costs – by far the worst car buying experience I've ever had.** - 1 star is a stretch

In my experience, buying a Porsche Cayenne (DA16 LSU) from Ideal Car Centre has been an absolute nightmare from start to finish - Do not purchase this car unless you want to spend a further £5000 on repairs.

Within the drive home, the car was producing large clouds of black smoke, and shortly afterwards developed a very loud drivetrain noise. I immediately arranged for the vehicle to be inspected by 911 Virgin, an independent Porsche specialist, whose report identified multiple serious faults, including the need for a replacement drivetrain, a new water pump and concerns with the transfer box. In their opinion, this vehicle should never have been sold in the condition it was in.

Despite receiving the specialist's report and invoice, I found Sam to be extremely defensive whenever the faults were raised. Although he eventually agreed to take the car back, the problems didn't end there.

I was told I had to wait 14 business days for my refund, despite my understanding that the Consumer Rights Act 2015 refers to calendar days. Because of the delay, I had to hire another vehicle at around £250 per week, costing me approximately £750. I have also been left £500 short from my refund due to an administration fee and I'm still out of pocket by £132 for the Porsche diagnostic report that confirmed the faults.

To make matters worse, after accepting the rejection, I was still expected to drive what I believed was an unsafe vehicle around three hours back to the dealership, instead of it being collected. Both myself and a friend had to take time off work, and we also incurred fuel costs just to return a car that should never have been sold.

What I found most concerning was that I formally rejected the vehicle on 7 July 2026, didn't physically return it until 11 July 2026, yet it had already been re-advertised on 9 July 2026.

The mechanical faults weren't the only issues. The passenger-side both doors were heavily keyed, the driver's side skirt was damaged, all four wheels were kerbed, there were loose wires hanging inside from previous dash cams, one key was missing its blade, the mileage advertised was approximately 1,500 miles lower than the actual mileage, and the advert stated the car had a full service history despite there only being two service stamps.

I have never experienced customer service like this. Even after returning the vehicle, I've had to fight to recover the money I'm legally claiming. At the time of writing, I have only received a partial refund and am now pursuing the outstanding balance through the courts.

If you're considering buying a car from Ideal Car Centre, my advice is simple: read the reviews on Auto Trader, Google and Trustpilot first, and make your own decision. Based on my experience, I would never buy another vehicle from them.
