Bye Keybank, forever, you're horrible in every way
Yeah, no. Never again. Where to begin...
I had a checking account with them (no savings), I checked the balance and $5/mo (plus some other kind of small fee). Hadn't checked my balance for a while.
I called them, they told me to come in person. I wait (my branch is severely understaffed with knowledgeable people). So I wait in line, then they said I have to make an appointment to talk to anyone that knows anything about it.
I scheduled an appt. I went, guy not there, apparently no one else can help me.? Same thing, this time there were 3 people waiting for him at MY appt time. Finally, get to someone who knows something. He told me since I don't have a Savings Acct then they charge monthly fees. So, I get a savings account.
Fees did NOT stop. So... same thing all over. I was in person and he said that I hadn't connected Savings/Checking. So, I asked him to do it, but apparetnly I had to call coroporate. Soooo about 6 months of fees. And they would NOT credit them back to me.
After spending hours waiting for corporate, I AGAIN had to go to the branch in-person to show ID. Funnier now. My savings got auto-closed for lack of usage (maintenance fees), so, more monthly fees. No email, no mail, no call, no text. Fees still going on. They were sooo clueless at the branch that we ended up having to close all accounts and re-open new ones (I had to due to a direct deposit). They said the acct# would be the same as before. It wasn't. Now, I've missed to direct deposits.
Every time I go in, they hate having to work. They don't give you eye contact because they don't want to be troubled.
That is just ONE of my issues with them. (quick one, you can pay your credit card in the app, or online, or phone, so I have to go in each time.
Worst Bank Ive ever done business with…
Worst bank to ever do business with never, again. I made a payment online and then got an email notice from key saying this transaction needed to be completed. I went on a second time ended up making another payment. Then I realized both payments went through but still got another message from key stating that my transaction wasn't complete. I called Key Bank, spoke to a woman and all I got was I'M SORRY. I was told I have to wait till both transactions clear before they can do anything, so in the meantime, I have to bounce my payments before they will help. What banking system doesn't have a CANCEL TRANSACTION BUTTON. All other on-line facilities OFFER that feature and don't screw you over like Key just did to me!
I am homeless and live in my van and…
I am homeless and live in my van and out if money so I applied for a $3,000 loan through lending tree & they sent a couple verification deposits to my KeyBank account, which I was supposed to repay to get my loan and KeyBanks fraud department froze my account, so now I have to wait a week with no food or money until they lift my account restrictions
The key bank is a very bad bank to bank…
The key bank is a very bad bank to bank wit they let someone call in wit all my information in closed out my account without my permission they also took my money lien sayin they was mailin a check I never recieved kept giving my the run away for a whole month n I still haven’t got my money don’t bank wit em n they also place fraud on my account after someone cllin in to close it
Key bank gives customers money to fraudulent business for 6 months and has no common sense
This review is based on their fraud department. In Feb 2024 I supposedly ordered from BrowseBrooklyn the following:
85” tv
Tri cycle
iPhone 13
Massager
All of that total of 54.00
A track number key says was delivered in February
1. Since when can you buy an iPhone for 54$
2.since when do you buy an 85”tv for 54$
Since when does an 85” tv get shipped in the same box with a tricycle and an iPhone ?
Common sense says you can not buy an 85”tv or an iphine13 for 54$ but key bank obviously has no common sense when it comes to the cost or price of merchandise which is very scary thinking this is a bank with our money .
Next,
How do you put a tricycle and an 85”tv in the same box with an iPhone ??
Key bank doesn’t understand these types of items are never shipped together in the same box because the tricycle will damage the TV
That means there had to be more than one track number to get these big items in the mail there should be at least two but more likely three boxes which means 3 track numbers.
The track number provided has no information available when you search it which means it’s a fraudulent track number
Key bank is dumb enough to let this company keep my money for 6 months and sides w the fraudulent company .
Key did not research the track number nor use common sense when understanding large items like an 85” tv would never ship w a tricycle and iPhone nor would an iPhone 13 or 85” tv ever cost only 54 combined.
It doesn’t get any more ignorant! &
It’s time to change banks!
Everything is hard here
Everything is hard here. Need to make a deposit? go into an office and sit down for 5 minutes. Need to close an account, good luck finding the person who actually knows how to do it, and even then you will have to make about 5 attempts at closing it. By far the worst bank I have ever dealt with, and as someone who has owned multiple businesses, I've experienced a lot of them.
Everyone I have worked with
Everyone I have worked with, for anything I need. They have all been great. Even if I just stop by to get some advice. they are always very helpful, always very nice.

Review for KeyBank: A Horrible Experience
If I could give KeyBank zero stars, I would. This review is not only for the branch I dealt with but for KeyBank as a whole, including their customer service, protocols, and policies.
KeyBank left me homeless despite having enough money to cover my expenses. A fraud investigation was initiated on my account, but my money was cleared, and nobody ever informed me what the investigation was about. They issued me a cashier's check with the remaining thousands of dollars I needed for moving.
Right when I arrived at my new location, KeyBank stopped my account, rendering me unable to access my funds. I had to borrow money from others, leading to unnecessary expenses that I now have to pay back. This situation has ruined my life.
I couldn't attend school, pay my car insurance, or cover my housing fees. KeyBank's incompetence and lack of accommodation have caused irreparable damage to my life.
Everyone I dealt with at KeyBank, from the branch to customer service, was unhelpful and unsympathetic. Their protocols and policies are flawed, and their customer service is abysmal.
Avoid KeyBank at all costs.
I will still be contacting the Attorney General's office in hopes that no one will have to go through what I had to. I have a child, a husband, and pets, and I nearly had to sleep in my car with them. This review will not be the end. I'm going to try to make sure no one is ever treated like this again by this bank.
Even after the investigation was done and they gave me back my money in the form of a cashier's check they still never apologized for all they did to me. Run for the hills you all. I can't keep explaining my situation in more details as it is all too unbearable to keep remembering. Just trust me run for the hills when it comes to this bank. Go to a bank that is known like Chase, Bank of America, TD bank, or Wells Fargo. Go to banks that are known. Don't take chances with this bank like I did. I never heard of Key Bank except when I signed up with unemployment and I don't know what possessed me to bank here. You live and you learn.
The bank teller or banker doesn't…
The bank teller or banker doesn't matter they don't know and do nothing...3 months ago I just deposited 300 $ in cash and only problems started ....fraud , close account, fraud ?, investigation , search , mail,no money, see money , check , bla bla word salad ....bla bla more ....they asked me 300 times to bring all the documents again and again .........I just want my money back in cash like I deposited !!!!!!@after 3 months still I didn't receive nothing...Well ....KeyBank ....give "my money " back ASAP ....PLS & TY 😊
I've never seen a bank ran so poor
Key Bank in Utah. If you need a bank teller forget it. I've seen people doing two or 3 jobs at the same time cuz of no teller not very helpful or friendly. I came in because someone was trying to scam my account. Same company 3 different times. I told them, "Hey let's open another account new one.." Nope branch manager said that would not help so getting a new card and not fixing the issue I guess all just have them hit my account again... collection of new cards... I was with the same bank 20 yrs no issues... I don't even see the lady anymore who helped me open this account. Big red flag!!
Terrible and scary institution
Terrible and scary institution. Twice in 3 years Key Bank blocked me out of my accounts claiming I was deceased and it takes weeks to get the problem corrected. I am not deceased. SSA has never flagged me or sent out notices that I am deceased. Key Bank cannot explain why this happens and cannot rule out fraud. They simply say they "do not know." Branch manager has a narrow window of being in the office and has not been diligent on getting the problem resolved. He has also lied and stated they received a death certificate from SSA and it is out of their hands. They do not have a death certificate.
KeyBank's Key Smart Checking Account $200 Bonus: A Bait-and-Switch Disappointment**
RE: Key Smart Checking Opened at Key Bank Endicott, NY
I recently had a highly disappointing experience with KeyBank West Main Street Endicott, NY back April 29, 2024 regarding their Key Smart Checking account and the $200 bonus offer. The promotion seemed straightforward: open an account and receive the bonus after setting up direct deposit within 60 days. However, the reality was far from the promise, leading me to believe this was a classic bait-and-switch tactic.
When I opened my account, I carefully set up my direct deposit through a government agency the same day. Given the timing of my pay periods, processing the deposit extended beyond the strict 60-day window. Despite my timely efforts, KeyBank was inflexible and refused to honor the bonus, even though the delay was out of my control.
When I inquired about my $200 bonus for opening the Key Smart Checking account, the Endicott branch manager at KeyBank displayed ignorance by suggesting I use a non-government direct deposit or call the government agency to change their policy. This response was unhelpful and disregarded the constraints and realities of dealing with government agencies.
KeyBank's refusal to consider the practicalities of direct deposit timing, especially from a government agency, shows a lack of understanding. Once they have you as a customer, their interest in honoring promotional incentives disappears.
If you are considering opening a Key Smart Checking account for the bonus, be wary. The promise of a $200 incentive may not materialize, and you could find yourself stuck with an account that doesn't deliver what was promised. This kind of service is unacceptable and feels like a deliberate attempt to attract customers under false pretenses.

I've been with Key Bank for several…
I've been with Key Bank for several years. Always had a smooth experience whether going to a teller or doing anything online.
Key Bank are Autism haters and disability abusers
April is Autism Acceptance Month. Let us see what my spouse (Class 1 ASD) and I (Class 3 ASD) received from Autism hating abusers from Key Bank:
1. Our late Father (Class 1 ASD) had a house mortgage with Key Bank for his house at 1155 Pinewood Drive Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. My spouse grew up in that house.
2. Our late Father died during pandemic from brain tumor. Since he had severe immune system issues, we did not visit for a few months to avoid infecting him with coronavirus and causing his death. We sent him essential supplies, including food, via mail.
3. We did not know that he had brain tumor. Because of the tumor, he lost ability to take care of himself and of his house, and the house came into significant disarray.
4. We came to the house on July 4 2022 to clean it out and fix things. This is when I learned that in Pennsylvania to kill an Autistic person is a misdemeanor like traffic ticket. I develop life-threatening seizures from loud noise. All house neighbors were setting off fireworks like possessed maniacs. Police came and told us that they cannot do anything to stop the abuse. We had to leave to survive. It was also very difficult for me to be in the house because I have sensory sensitivity to smell and the house smelled very bad.
5. After our Father’s passing, we continued paying the mortgage, until disability abuse, disability discrimination, and hate crimes against us plunged us into poverty and we could no longer pay his mortgage.
6. Key Bank repeatedly sent process servers to our home. These process servers ignored Do Not Knock sign on our door and knocked loudly and repeatedly. They trespassed and ran around our home acting like deranged maniacs. They honked their car honks on purpose to abuse, threaten, and harass us. We have a sign on our car that says “We are Autistic loud noise causes us severe harm please do not make loud noise thank you.” They could see that sign. We were afraid to come out of our home. They proceeded to threaten, stalk, and harass us on our cell phones. They refused to stop even after we told them that we are Autistic and requested them to stop. They repeatedly harmed, harassed, threatened, stalked, and abused us.
7. On April 23 2024, Key Bank sent their employees to the 1155 Pinewood Drive house without notifying us. These employees trespassed, broke into the house, turned away security cameras and were stealing family possessions and family heirlooms in the background, away from the cameras view.
8. This is how Key Bank treats Autistic families during Autism Acceptance Month. After experiencing all of this horror, pain, and abuse, my spouse had suicidal thoughts and talked to me about killing himself. We will be filing massive lawsuit against Key Bank for disability abuse, disability discrimination, hate crimes, abuse and exploitation of vulnerable adults. We will also be filing criminal charges against process servers hired by Key Bank, bank employees who broke into our Father’s house and stole his belongings, and all persons responsible for harm and abuse caused to us. We will be sending police to the house to remove and arrest the trespassers. We will be applying for protective orders against Key Bank employees and process servers. We will be taking this story to the media so everyone knows what Key Bank really is – Autism hater and disability abuser. If you are disabled – do NOT do any business with Key Bank and close all of your accounts with them – because this is what they will do to you. I will put videographic evidence of hate crimes and abuse together in the next day or two and post it here. We will destroy Key Bank with our lawsuit and make them experience what being poor feels like. The wicked will suffer.

key bank is NOT for small business
I have a small business account with key bank and my debit card was hacked. While waiting for my new car I noticed charges on the other side of the country so I called fraud dept right away while the charges were still pending.
well they did nothing. the charges went through and almost $4,000 was taken from my account. well to my surprise they told me because it was a business account it may take 3 months to get my money back while they "investigate".
I dont think they did any investigation because I contacted the store in California where the fraudulent charges were made and they were never contacted by key bank. They did tell me that there were other purchases on another key bank card and it seemed funny to them because they had never heard of key bank.
Well it turned out to also be fraudulent which means key bank is VERY laxed in their security!!
Key bank took the money back from the merchant about 3 weeks after the fraudulent charges and now its been 8 weeks and all I get is a runaround.
My advice to everyone is DO NOT do business with key bank...especially if you are a small business.
As soon as I get my money back (if ever) I am closing all my accounts and never having anything to do with key bank again.
Keybank let a stolen check go through…
Keybank let a stolen check go through that a "stop payment" had been placed on. "Don't know what happened." Pretty much.....sucks to be you! Anybody but keybank!!
The bank is victimizing victims
The bank is victimizing victims. In the past year, I have had more than 8 fraudulent activities on both personal and business accounts. The banks solution is to replace the card, and then add protection programs to charge you for. The solution is never to open a new account. Just keep losing money and then pay them money. Do not use Key Bank.
Outrageous Security Fail
Outrageous Security Fail. Key Bank attracted us in our small upstate New York town for being a regionally expansive and friendly bank. In person exchanges were all very good and their advising angle was welcome. However, when anything more was expected, as would be from bigger "box" banks, Key failed. Their financial advising was not worth following up with. Their international banking was also low caliber. Lots of extra dings and charges for anything out of the U.S. But it was their low rent card security that caused us to pull up stakes, close all accounts and go elsewhere. We were scammed in Mexico with a pretty basic heist. In truth, we had several weeks down there and only one fraudulent charge. We spotted this right away and informed the bank and thought that was the end of it, as this has been our experience with several other banks and card companies. Weeks later we shocked to learn that Key had rejected our claim and blamed us for the scam/fraudlent charge. Their logic is not really worth repeating, because the gist really was that they use a low rent fraud contractor which does no investigations, but instead just waits a while before rejecting claims and wearing down client patience. We dealt with this very low rent fraud team for a while (with major English as a second language challenges) before realizing that there was zero hope. We turned to our branch employees, who really cared. But in the end they could not do anything at all because Key is a low rent outfit that scrimps on security. Meaning there is no security worth having at all with Key. So what is the point? I only wonder what else about their structure is completely insecure. In any case, feeling very relieved to be completely free of any association with Key. Go to any other big box bank and get better everything.
Is foreign customer service really that much cheaper??
I’m a 20 year customer…1).They keep closing branches. In the last 4 years I went from a walk across the street to 5 mile drive, to finally a 7.5 mile drive, unless I need Saturday service, then it’s 11 miles…
2) they are on their..3rd??…software upgrade…o.k. get used to it….BUT this time they went too far, or should I say, not far enough….I USE IOS…APPLE . I PHONE AND IPAD….they did not give us the same level/features as other operating systems….and when I called..texted, ..wrote I kept getting the same…cut and paste answers..…as if I was blatantly ignorant…then, after a month of back and forth I brought my IPad to a Key branch to show my screen has NO SUCH TAB…that’s when I was told…”of course it’s not going to work, you have an IOS device …grrrr
.the feature I miss most is “Forecast your Balance”…because as screwed up as our Country is…we are all…”.robbing Peter to pay Paul” and that feature works really well to keep from getting…overdraft fees…and lets me pay bills on time…I can access that feature WHEN I BORROW A LAPTOP….otherwise it is screw you Apple degenerate…Guess at who you can pay
Thieves
Thieves. You're really going to keep my $7k+ for 7 days? Who does that. Thieves, that who. Next time somebody deposits a check, please let them know you will be holding it hostage for 1 week so they don't use that money. Especially right before Thanksgiving. OMG all your reviews are negative.....how are you all still in business?
