This bank is worthless
This bank is worthless. I tried to deposit my payroll check as it was paper due to it being a new account. I didn't have any access to MY MONEY until the following day. I didn't have a back card as it again was a new account. I hate this bank and i hope is goes under. Stupid rules and who are you to tell me that I can't have access to my money. Worst bank ever!!!
Worst banking app ever.
I messed up about 8 of my previous deposits because Key Bank apparently added an additional pop-up question AFTER the final "Submit" button on a mobile deposit, asking if I need some portion of the cash quickly or not. Why not ask that question somewhere BEFORE the Submit button? Essentially, there is now a 2-stage Submit on a deposit. And if I fail to make a selection on that pop-up question after the Submit, my deposit does NOT get submitted? What on earth?????? Thank god I still had my checks.
You know, a lot of consumers are tired of reading gibberish. Reading, reading, reading. All of these million-billion apps, banner ads, terms, marketing emails, etc. It's endless. When I see a SUBMIT button, I presume that it is the final step. And then I'm done with your app. I don't care what follows after that. I imagine others have also unwittingly failed to deposit their checks because of this highly flawed design.
Anyway, I'm done with this bank. I just changed my direct deposit with my employer back to my previous bank. Not only is Key Bank's app design insane, but the website looks prehistoric, the third party "allow" feature doesn't work when connecting brokerage accounts, customer service agents I've spoken to have been US-based but extremely cheeky, etc. And bank office hours are terrible around my area. Do you even need physical locations with such limited hours?
This bank absolutely deserves the terrible rating that it has.
We have a business account with them
We have a business account with them. Their customer support team out of Cleveland is indifferent and surly. They never answer the phones in their local branches but ask that one leaves their phone number, and they will return your call. They never do; never.
Where is our money?
My partner inherited 29000 dollars from her aunt in US. We are in the UK. The monies were apparently sent to us on 28th August 2023. We have not received them. We asked for them to Trace and Recall as advised by our bank. It is now 19th September and this has not been done. We have no idea where our money is. We are at our wits end.
Key Bank sucks
Key Bank sucks. They say they can take from 12am to 8am to post your direct deposit social security check. It should be there at 12:01 am. My check is still not there at 6am. Had to talk to a foreign country to find out if it is being deposited or not.
Not only does Citizens Bank post your direct deposit payment after midnight they also pay you your check days earlier then the regular posted day. A new feature by them. Go Citizens!
Fraud Department Cancelled and Blocked my card when making legitimate purchase
I have had my credit card with Key Bank canceled twice and blocked because of legitimate online purchases. They had the nerve to ask me if my $13 easy pay charge at QVC was fraud. They also immediately cancel and block your card if you choose to save the card in Microsoft to use for future purchases since they check to make sure the card is valid by doing a 0.00 hit on the card. I told them to leave my card blocked since this has happened twice now and is extremely inconvenient, and embarrassing when your charges are denied. Obviously, the customer service reps are not from this country when they have to ask you if the small charge to QVC is fraud. I will never use this Key Bank credit card again ever. Not worth the effort especially since there are too many other options out there. Never had this happen with any other credit card. I have a lot of open credit on my Key Bank card and do not understand their practices. Maybe they should hire people that live in the US to provide customer service so they do not have to ask if reputable companies in US are fraud.

They closed my account because I received a check from my work and the check was returned,on top of that they add a R16 code to my bank history so now every bank can see this and is really hard to open a new checking account.
On top of that the customer service is horrible they do not treat you like a customer.
On top of that they will froze you account without a call and you will not have access to your money for around 10 days.

For approximately 6 years now, I have long delays or am unable to make a check deposit through my Keybank app (error of no connectivity) This is so frustrating, as I always need to drive to the nearest Keybank location (which does not have a drive up ATM) to deposit a check. I have my business checking with another Bank, and never have issues making a remote check deposit with that Bank. Every time I have reported this to Keybank, they blame it on me, for it being my home internet or cellular connectivity issue. 1st World problem, but not exactly the most up to date Bank!

Never in my life have I dealt with a more incompetent organization...customer service reps are untrained and haven't a clue what they're doing. They pass you around like a hot potato. They refuse repeated requests to speak to escalate to a manager. The 8th person I spoke to today was a manager named Brandon (I FINALLY go through to a manager) who BERATED me for accidentally calling him Braden instead of Brandon, after I had put up with over an hours worth of ongoing mistakes on the part of multiple staff members, including him. How could a bank like this possibly remain in business I ask in all sincerity??
Call center who was clueless
I made a transaction with key bank with their automated phone system. After a week, the transaction did not appear on line.
I called key2, you and was told there are Muslim holidays currently and therefore, transactions are not processed!

tldr: It's a wanna be big bank that's somehow even worse than the big banks.
I opened a checking account on the website using a offer code, and it said that my application has to go through manual review. I wait about a week, and no email, no texts, no calls. I call the number and they tell me that my account has been approved. I say how do I set up online banking since I haven't received anything? They tell me that to get my account number I have to go into a branch to get my account number and that they don't really know why I haven't received any communications from them. I go to the branch and get my account number and ask about the offer for a $400 bonus. I get told that it's a targeted offer and they're not really sure why the system let me apply through that link in the first place. But they are not going to honor it. I'm closing this account once 180 days is up because there is a $25 fee if you close it within 180 days of opening it. 🤦♂️

Husband received offer code for $400 bonus with new account. Signed up online with offer code. Followed all directions for bonus, linking new account to our other bank and creating paycheck direct deposit. Was immediately locked out and sent a letter thanking us for reporting fraud. What? Rec'd letter accusing us of fraud, threatened with collection. Collection of what, his own paycheck? Visited actual branch twice to clear it up and after waiting through an hour of phone calls was told there was nothing he could do and no one he could talk to, he was being "investigated," as he sat there in front of them with 2 legit forms of id. They closed the account after holding up paycheck deposit for 2 weeks. Sent us a check for account balance with a very nice letter saying they were sorry he chose to close his account, please come back (after the bonus offer had expired). Come back? I wouldn't park in the same shopping center as this bank.
KeyBank Mortgage Loan Servicing
KeyBank Mortgage Loan Servicing. With automatic bill payer set up to pay our home loan each month our escrow amount changes without us knowing. The loan payment goes up by $300 and yet we keep paying the original amount. Because we are now not sending the full amount the system does not apply the money sent to the home loan and just holds it, begins charging late fees, AND starts sending credit agencies notifications that we are delinquent in payment. The best part is when KeyBank files to foreclose and sends threatening letters . . . this is the first notification we received regarding this matter.
Calling the Keybank Mortgage Loan Servicing folks . . . we are told it is completely our fault . . . KeyBank did it all "by the book."
This is a 300k loan secured by a 2.3 million dollar house. As usual KeyBank is a total joke. Don't do business with this company if you can help it.
Does everything that I ask for in a bank.
I have been a customer for many years and have always had great service. It is easy for me to move and transfer money from one account to another. The bill payment function is rather slow- 3 to 5 business days. The bank hours are good and the tellers always efficient and friendly.

Don't trust their bill pay. For several years I have used their software to pay my mortgage. This year it didn't adjust because I didn't know to use their new autopay. Long story short I have 50 dollars in late fees a 32 day late payment and customer service reps saying too bad. I don't make late payments and really don't like the condescension from the service reps. Looking for a new bank
Car loan overpay
I had a car loan with Keybank. My car was totaled by a collision with a deer. My insurance company paid the balance of the loan. A subsequent payment was deducted. I attempted to have this payment repaid to me. I was on the phone for over an hour, with long lapses between any conversation with the agent. She finally told me that there was no evidence of the final payment, and that I had no way of retrieving it. I could not fathom the incompetence and/or indifference shown to a customer. Don't use this bank!

The worst banking service I have ever experienced. I do not comment regularly but when someone is charging money for nothing and does not notify you about it, it really speaks volume. Every time I was contacting customer service, I got a different answer. Every time I asked for instructions, some additional fee was not disclosed. If you had ever used any other bank, you would consider all the non-sensical payments charged by this bank inconceivable.
