Been a Lifx user since the beginning… AVOID
Been a Lifx user since the beginning and have reached the end of my tether. The lights are well made, have nice colours and are bright, but my god everything else fugging sucks. The app doesn't work a lot of the time. I end up stuck with very bright lights as I'm trying to go to bed, or stuck off or low during the day, and I have either turn it off at the switch or physically use other lights in my home.
Add in the fact that they discontinued support for the first series of bulbs I bought, so that I can no longer connect them to wifi, completely bricking my products. Wish I had jumped ship sooner, it's a complete shit show and I'm sick of it.
Expensive mistake
Very expensive lighting, look great but connectivity reliability is absolutely awful- thousands spent WORST mistake we made. Avoid at all cost! No support whatsoever
Poor quality products and customer service
I wish I had bought my bulbs from a quality brand. The bulbs are totally trash, they do not work occasionally, cannot reconnect them to the WiFi and basically useless. The App is even worse: very clunky and has lots of compatibility issues with iOS. The customer service are clueless, they do not know their own app or system, why are there at all?
Spend your money elsewhere and avoid this company.
LIFX has completely fallen apart under Feit Electric
I’ve been a loyal LIFX user for years and loved their lights — *until now.* After Feit bought the company, support and reliability went straight off a cliff. One of my bulbs stopped working, and when I contacted support, they flat-out refused to help because I didn’t have a receipt.
Here’s the thing: the bulb is **registered in my LIFX account,** connected to my Wi-Fi, and clearly shows I own it — but that wasn’t enough “proof.” They’re hiding behind pointless “policy” just to dodge responsibility.
It’s disgusting how a company that once set the standard for smart lighting now treats its customers like they don’t matter. I honestly hope other smart lighting brands learn from this fiasco, because LIFX is now a perfect case study in how to ruin an outstanding product line.
Check their reviews on Trustpilot before buying — this isn’t an isolated story. Avoid LIFX. Save yourself the frustration.
LiFx has destroyed my product
LiFx has destroyed my product
Yesterday (Sunday 23rd November, 2025) my LiFx bulb was working fine.
Today (Monday 24th November, 2025), the bulb no longer works - and LiFx has told me that it's "no longer supported".
My bulb is now incapable of changing colour, brightness, or even turning on/off unless I use the wall switch - the app recognises that the bulb is there (it can see it, and connect to it), however the app has been programmed to not function with bulbs of a certain generation/age.
LiFx have literally written obsolescence into their app, so that it will not work with certain bulbs anymore.
When your bulb works perfectly fine yesterday, and suddenly, magically, it "breaks" the next day, that's not a product fault, it's the company telling you that you're not allowed to use the product that *YOU OWN* anymore.
Do not purchase LiFx products - as you will eventually find they "stop working", due to an "update" from the company, and will be expected to purchase new lights....
Keep the tiny user manual forever or else?
Moved around not sure where I placed my tiny little manual.. and so my $50 build is now useless unless I want ultra bright white light. Disgusting poor user experience. So what go buy another one?? Sure but I'm going with any other smart bulb this is an unbelievable rip off!
Not recommended
Supported this company when it started added a good few bulbs over the years. But had to bin an equal amount, never worked to any degree without fiddling with the app etc. from the two remaining only one can be controlled by the app.
Wouldn't recommended them to anyone considering a lighting system
Very difficult to set up
Very difficult to set up. Lose connection for no reason, then will not set up again. Hate these bulbs. No support at all.
I must express my disappointment with…
I must express my disappointment with the recent experience regarding LIFX. As a long-standing and loyal supporter of the brand, I had high expectations for the service and quality associated with their products. Unfortunately, this situation has led me to reconsider my options.
Given the circumstances, I will be exploring alternative brands that better align with my expectations and offer the reliability and support I seek.
Lightbulbs are extremely complicated to connect with a high failure rate.
Bulbs are excessively complicated to connect, and often fail to connect at all. Customer service only provides copy + paste "help". Read the reviews, too many people spending literal hours trying to connect Lifx bulbs.
Try a different brand.
Shocking to see poor reviews
Shocking to see poor reviews.
Having purchased my first bulb at least 8 years ago, I’ve now got 5 and they all still work! I use them daily and they almost never fail in connection - very stable and reliable. By far the most reliable bulbs I’ve had. The app is also nice. Very functional and good UI. Updated regularly.
Really not sure why the reviews are so bad. It’s an expensive product but you get what you pay for. At least I did.
Just changed my WiFi and now the ‘good’…
Just changed my WiFi and now the ‘good’ Lifex bulbs won’t connect (everything else has). If not sorted soon I will go elsewhere.
My experience with LIFX
LIFX Customer service is in shambles. My experience with LIFX, now under Feit Electric, is a warning for any potential customer. After purchasing an expensive product, I found myself abandoned by the company when they stopped supplying essential power adapters. Promises of availability turned into years of waiting. When finally escalated to a support manager, Holden, the response was dismissive and evasive, shifting responsibility to previous owners and undermining my status as a long-time customer.
Holden’s cold reference to me as a "former customer" is an insult, considering my continued purchases. This blatant disregard from LIFX is appalling. It reveals a company more interested in hiding behind legal technicalities than supporting its loyal customers. Such a lack of accountability and respect is not just disappointing; it’s a betrayal of customer trust.
This experience is a clear sign: LIFX, under the helm of Feit Electric, has failed its customers spectacularly. Beware of a brand that treats loyalty and customer service as afterthoughts.
Switches don't work. HUGE delay
Switches don't work. Their support team totally has their heads burried in the sand and are trying to suggest it is a network error, which it is not. It's because their switches use the Cloud and not LAN.
I was an early Lifx adopter
I was an early Lifx adopter. Most bulbs failed in the first two years. Some were replaced under warranty. I'm now throwing the rest away in order to drop the poor app. I've switched to a Kasa and Wyze setup. Much less expensive and 10x more reliable. Wasted well over $1000 on lifx which is all now in landfill.
Great product horrendous customer service
Although LIFX are happy to sell their products in the UK they will no longer uphold the warranty as the original company went into liquidation and the brand was bought by a US company that will not support warranty claims.
I’ve had some of these bulbs since the original kickstarter campaign. Customer service was excellent and any bulbs that did develop an issue were promptly replaced under warranty. However the new owners aren’t interested in the customers that helped them develop the product or who have supported them from the start.
Dreadful
Dreadful. Poor pick-up of WiFi, stuck on for no reason although the ap says still online, ap very hard to decipher. By far my worst lighting decision
Dont expect them to last past the warranty
Like a lot of other customers my Lifx light strip stopped working just outside the warranty period.
I contacted Lifx support asking for some assistance and they replied telling me they couldnt help me becuase my light was out of warranty... I didnt even ask for a warranty claim.
We went back and forth for 2 full weeks and in the end there was no assistance offered, just blame that my wifi network was at fault, even though it was the same network with the same configuration for the whole life of the light and all of my other Lifx lights were still working just fine.
The blame continued until I gave up, the only option now is to dump it in landfill.
The lights might be rated for 20+ years but dont expect them to last past the warranty
I purchased two Lifx B22 smart lights
I purchased two Lifx B22 smart lights, and they're fantastic, especially for someone like me who is deaf. They've really helped me wake up on time with their light schedule feature. It gradually brightens in the morning, making waking up easier, which is particularly important for me since I can't rely on traditional alarms. Setting them up was a breeze, and they work seamlessly with my other smart devices. The app is easy to use, and they even work with voice assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant, which is great because I can control them without any issues. The light quality is excellent too, with vibrant colors and brightness levels. Overall, I highly recommend Lifx if you want to upgrade your lighting setup, especially if you have unique needs like mine as a deaf individual.
Get a Phillips Hue instead/save yourself the headache
have had my lifx light for about 3 years and have NEVER been able to keep it connected for more than 2 weeks. Bought a new one to see if it was a dud, and still, it will SOMETIMES connect (usually the app won’t even find it), and then it works great for a week or two and then "IT LOOKS LIKE THIS LIGHT IS UNAVAILABLE". tried to update it, and it just disconnected midway through. Half the time I just end up using it as a normal light bulb. Going to buy a Phillips hue tomorrow, and I will be crushing this one with a car so as to never have to deal with this headache again. absolute paperweight. you WILL be disappointed if you waste your money on this trash.
