Discourage buying this model

Maytag washer MVW4505MW0 has quit (mid cycle) 3 times since purchase in Sept. 2023 We night extended warranty from Best Buy thankfully. Service out 5 times due to ordering parts etc. I would choose a different make and model.

Do not buy Maytag products. Customer service is atrocious!

Recently, purchased maytags, pet pro washer and dryer set that was delivered after Christmas. Washer doesn't wash clothes even with the agitator they come out dirty and with patches of lint and dry in parts as if they never were completely submerged in water and rotated throughout the washing or rinsing cycles, even when tried deep fill options. When used the hot cycle uou can feel the heat/steam escaping where the lid separates from the control panel and accumulates steam and condensation. A few months of this and the steam and water will impact the ability for the electric panel to operate for any use. The filter that is in the agitator says needs to be cleaned but as a 5'5 woman I struggle to reach in to PUSH AND TWIST where the drum doesn't to get the filter loose so I can clean and replace. Obviously if I cant get off buildup will occur over time also going to affect ability to operate correctly. Customer service says nothing they can do for a return, but schedule maintenance and if cant be fixed then they can exchange. Maintenance on a new washer and dryer is absurd?! Dryer works but the lint catcher doesn't appear the line all the way down because there is lint that gets into the basin below the bottom of the filter like it doesn't catch and drops off. Customer service is awful as you wait on hold for over an hour for them to say I'll transfer you to that department, wait on hold again and they cant do anything about a return, say to call Home Depot, and send you to another department to wait again on hold. 3 days of this and I finally after 2 hours gave up and plan on bringing them to Home Depot because they are not worth $2200 let alone $500. Should have known better after having a fridge that lasted us 3 years and said let's give this product a go based on recommendation from Home Depot staff. Overpriced junk and the customer service is worse than the junk products.

Maytag dishwasher paint is by peeling…

If you have an old Maytag appliance and are considering buying a new one because of it's reliability, think again.

We purchased a Maytag dishwasher in 2023 and after only 2 years the paint is peeling and rust showing, caused by the dishwashers own steam. It looks terrible.

We tried contacting their support and they were unhelpful.

We will not be buying Maytag again.

Maytag has some of the worst design…

Maytag has some of the worst design ever with their appliance. I will never purchase it again.
Installed the dishwasher this Saturday. We have to wire the plug ourselves. WHY???
The instruction also did not include any indication or visual cues regarding drain and water intake, assuming any homeowner can figure it out...?

Worst washer I’ve ever owned.

The Maytag Bravos Extra Large with “Commercial Technology” does not clean clothes. Even using Power Wash, Deep Clean, Extra Rinse, Extra Heavy Soil, and running the cycle for 1 hour 45 minutes, clothes still come out dirty. I’ve used both cold and hot water with the same results.

I use one Tide pod (designed for cold water) and have also tried All Free & Clear and other detergents. Pods don’t fully dissolve, and clothes are still filthy regardless of detergent or temperature.

Calling this washer “extra large” is misleading. If I load more than four pairs of jeans, they come out with detergent chunks and visible dirt.

This is the worst washing machine I’ve had in 40 years. It wastes time, doesn’t use enough water, and simply does not clean. I would never recommend it!

Maytag customer service is the worst…

Maytag customer service is the worst experience that I have ever had. Our washer leaked, turns out after two customer service visits, it was determined that during manufacturing, Maytag installed a faulty part. I submitted letters from the service tech along with the faulty part that was determined to cause the leak. I had to submit this claim twice and after 2 months, they got back to me asking me to resubmit everything again! The most incompetent company that I have ever dealt with.

Spend your money more wisely than I did. Avoid Maytag

My dishwasher is 2 months out of warranty and nonfunctional. 3 different attempts to get support from Maytag resulted in all three representatives telling me, sorry, its only under warranty for the first year. Brand new product, barely a year old trash. So much for the old fashioned Maytag repair man always being unemployed.

Poor Quality

We remodeled our kitchen and bought a Maytag refrigerator and dishwasher. I've typically bought Maytag or Kitchenaid appliances because I thought they were of good quality. The appliances were installed in July 2024 and already we've had to replace a drawer in the refrigerator which, luckily was still under warranty. Not the case with our dishwasher. We bought a high end 3 tier dishwasher, stainless steel - it cleans well, however it is rusting on the front of the dishwasher. The appliance store I purchased from did come out and look at it and admitted it shouldn't do this after just over a year but said the warranty was only good for a year. It is rusting around the steam vent on the face of the dishwasher and along the top of the dishwasher where the plastic meets the stainless steel. To me, this is a defect. The store suggested I call their 800 number which was useless. They "escalated" my complaint but of course, I'm being told there's nothing they can do and I should've purchased the extended warranty. It's become a scam with appliances - basically, you have to spend another several hundred dollars for an extended warranty. A stainless steel dishwasher should not be rusting at a little over a year old. Maytag is no longer the company it was. The quality isn't there anymore. I caution anyone shopping for appliances - DO NOT BUY MAYTAG, WHIRLPOOL or KITCHENAID.

Stay away from Maytag Washers & Dryers!!

Bought a brand new Maytag Washer and Dryer 4 years ago from NFM. Tub bearings are shot and need replaced for ~$1,000.00. Tried calling Maytag to review warranty information & was on hold for over an hour. Kept getting routed to "someone that could assist". I was told by our appliance repair technician that Maytag is the worst appliance to purchase because their machines constantly fail. He sees this daily.. i am writing this review to make sure if you are in the market to bypass Whirlpool and Maytag altogether. Don't waste your money like we did. The warranty only covers the drive train and the basket which are two items that don't fail. What a ripoff.

Had a dishwasher break

Had a dishwasher break. Called Maytag and since it wasn't covered, bought a $300 service call. They sent a unprepared local contactor contracted through Maytag's official repair service. Promised a lot. Multiple visits, each time with a new excuse why they couldn't fix my dishwasher. Finally they stopped returning my calls, texts. Spent money on this repair, it was never completed. Don't hire! Maytag was also no help saying that while I waited for the repair parts to ship, my ticket for the repair had closed so there was nothing they could do either. Buy yourself a different model of appliance!

MAYTAG Terrible Warranty Service – Avoid Maytag

My experience with Maytag has been extremely disappointing. My washer, purchased in July 2025, stopped working on September 9, 2025, and I reported it right away. Despite multiple emails requesting service or replacement, the issue remains unresolved. Maytag has repeatedly failed to coordinate with their service partner, Electric Express Appliance, leaving me to chase updates and retell the same story over and over.

The lack of accountability and responsiveness is astonishing. As a customer, I should not have to spend hours on hold with the Maytag warranty line—sometimes over an hour at a time—only to get no resolution. Their warranty promises are meaningless when they cannot ensure repairs or replacements are handled efficiently.

To this day (and it’s October 2nd!), my washer is still not working.

Poor communication, endless delays, and complete disregard for the customer make Maytag a company to avoid at all costs.

The Maytag warranty is the biggest joke—I deeply regret buying this washer.

Absolutely the WORST customer service

Absolutely the WORST customer service. Made an order over a month ago, and it just keeps saying that it's "Awaiting Shipment". I've done 2 customer 'Chats', for which I had to wait over 30 minutes to make contact with a live person. Also made a phone call for which I had to wait over 30 minutes. My credit card keeps getting charged, too.

I am beyond furious. BOTH my washer and dryer broke within two weeks of each other — a ridiculous and completely unacceptable failure for appliances that are supposed to last YEARS. I didn’t buy the cheapest models either, so for both to crash and burn this close together reeks of poor quality and even worse design.

After hours of troubleshooting, missed laundry days, and dealing with customer service that seemed more confused than helpful, I had no choice but to shell out over $1000 just to replace them. That’s money I shouldn’t have had to spend, all because the original units couldn’t even do the bare minimum: WORK.

This whole experience has been nothing short of infuriating. I’m angry, I’m annoyed, and I’m DONE with this brand/store/manufacturer (whoever's responsible, take your pick — it’s all a disaster). Never again.

Avoid at all costs.

So disappointed

So. I had a Maytag washer and dryer. I didn't know the age - came with the house. I loved the dryer but the heater stopped working. Instead of spending $$$ to get it fixed, I decided to buy a new dryer. And a washer since I wanted a matched set. The new dryer takes at least 3x longer to dry than the old. It is so thin that closing the door moves the whole machine out of alignment. And for some reason, Maytag decided to redesign the top so that it slopes. Now when I use it, it vibrates and anything on top falls off. Like my detergent. The washer at least has a larger tub. Even though I bought the simplest version, there is no way to rinse and spin without checking the manual to see how. There is however a "casual" cycle which means nothing. It too has a sloped top. I made a huge mistake on this purchase.

Bought a Maytag washer

Bought a Maytag washer , was lucky to get the first three years before the spin cycle quit except on heavy duty . Then two nights ago it shut right down. Repair guy in says it’s the mother board can fix for $800 but not sure if that’s the only issue. I call
Maytag then put in hold a while . Was offered a 25% discount if I order online. Told within 10 minutes my code with come by email for the offer. Get transferred to sales on hold 2hours 18 minutes not wanting to hang up without the code, finally hung up called back n they are closed. Go figure no code, no salesperson no call. Stuck with a broken washer full of our wet stinky clothes

Update : was left on my own to order online with the 25% off code after calling back in after the long weekend. Delivery date posted changed as I was doing my order up. Called in says no it goes by order . Right now I’ve been given 4 different delivery dates sent to my email? How can one make plans to be home when we have no idea when it’s coming ??

Frustrating experience with Maytag delivery

I spent $3,351 on a fridge, washer, and dryer scheduled for July 17. No communication before the delivery window, and I had to chase down updates. Delivery was rescheduled multiple times, and the washer/dryer arrived damaged and unstackable due to a missing kit. After several delays and poor communication, I’m still waiting for proper delivery. Disappointed with the lack of transparency and the inconvenience this caused my family.

DO NOT buy Maytag

Bought top recommended Maytag washer in 2021, replacing my mother’s decades old one. That one was great, just tired. One I bought was the worst. Grinded and squealed like an Everglades jet-engine airboat! After about 2 years it all went downhill. Now it no longer washes or spins. It will take 5 weeks to get someone to look at it. Got no help from customer service, just emails telling ME how to troubleshoot. Silly people…as if I could begin to fix it! To me, Maytag has lost its purpose and pride snd seems to be content to sell junk.

Maytag Appliances and Service Terrible

Maytag washer less than 6 months old broken for second time. Maytag customer service is terrible. The "live chat" on their website is not live at all. It's an AI bot that uses prompts and you never chat with a human. When it cannot answer your question it cuts off the chat. If you call the number you will stay on hold for hours. Often the phone line will cut off and say it's after business hours and they are closed when it is not after business hours. Maytag needs to hire real people and stop with the AI BS.

Overpriced, Unreliable, and Zero Support

Avoid buying this washer—or any appliance—from Maytag. We’ve had ours for less than a year, and it’s been a nightmare. I paid for the extended warranty, but service is slow, unreliable, and completely frustrating. They schedule repairs, then don’t show up, and tell you it’ll take another 72 hours just to follow up. At this rate, we’re going two weeks without a working washer that cost over $1,000.

The extended warranty is a joke. Without it, good luck speaking to a real person. With it, you’re paying $6 a month for no-shows and zero accountability. Total waste of money and time.

I’ll be posting this review everywhere this washer is sold so others don’t go through what we did.
