You now have to get through an AI to speak

It takes 5 minutes just to convince the AI system they have in place to put you through to a human. CHATGPT it is not. The banking app is broken more than it's up and if you are trying to do anything from another country, forget it. Customer service staff are under-trained, don't know business terminology, probably under-paid and could care less mostly. It is a shambles of a bank. Rank amateurs.

Been with this bank for my business for…

Been with this bank for my business for years and ever year it just gets worse. Everything everyone is saying in the reviews is correct. I have 2 personal accounts and 2 business accounts with them. I am only have the business accounts as I still have loans with them but as soon as they are paid off In will be closing them. I have had Starling accounts for my businesses for the last 6 years and they are far better. Put your money with them you won't regret it. I applied for an overdraft with Metro Bank in 2019, I am still waiting on an answer, terrible service terrible bank now which is a shame as when I joined they were really good. There online service is terrible. I regularly get blocked from my account for no reason and even trying to add new payees is an issue. I would steer well clear and use another bank.

This is the worst ever bank iv dealt with,
I opened an account for my son when he was 11 or 12 his had his own card but apparently its joint with me so when I go onto the app his account comes up, trying to set Apple Pay up and my god what a nightmare!!! Because they have my old number I was told to go into the branch which I did to then be told no they have the correct number , so we called up and the man over the phone passed by the verification code notification as it still come up with the wrong number.. card was unblocked on Apple Pay but when he went to use it as the shop it didn’t work as the lady in the shop had already sent out a new card…! Got the new card then tried to set up Apple Pay again ( this is so he can buy lunch for school) so called them again and was told he didn’t pass security questions and had to go to the branch ( security question being my old number) he doesn’t even no his own number!!! So as the wrong number is on the account they can’t send a code etc honestly so bloody frustrating..!!!! All I want to do is set up Apple Pay what 12 year old is going to remember any security answers or they customer number! I would sooooo avoid this bank I have no trouble with Barclays etc who can sort issues out on the phone!!! Metro should be shut down they cards are so thin that they don’t even work half the time

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. Reading Agent & Store Manager NEVER answer their phones
Nor reply to VM messages. Complaints to Cust Svc DO NOT get answered. IT INCAPABLE of deleting ONE name in User Lists and Mandates AFTER 7 Months of repeated calls. DO NOT do business with them as you WILL regret it!

The worst bank I have ever used for…

The worst bank I have ever used for business. Inefficient, long wait times, poor customer service and lack of care. They have left me in multiple bad situations and scenarios. Stick with the main banks like HSBC, Nationwide etc. don’t waste your time. Iv since got a new business account with HSBC, it’s easy to use, easy to get help, fast and efficient.

Rubbish clueless lazy staff at Metro…

Rubbish clueless lazy staff at Metro bank at Fulham Bdway station.
It seems that all they are interested in selling are the security boxes at inflated prices.
Instead of being helpful, they are negative and off putting.
When I got tired of waiting for a reprint of One statement- whilst he was dawdling on the back of a chair; (he took about 10 mins); and when I said I would pick it up before they close; on my way back to the station; he said it was ready, and handed it to me!
They are a total waste of space.

1 year and still no replacement bank card

I have been a customer for 8 years
My bajk card expired and I ordered a new one. This has been a process that has taken over 1 year. I still do not have a bank card so I cant use the account how i want to.
Multiple phone calls- I don't live near a
branch.
Customer service is terrible, no resolution, get palmed off to other people. Get told that an IT ticket will be raised and we will send a card out.
It has been over 1 year amd this still isn't sorted.
Customer service team doesn't seem to know what they are talking about and very poor English which means they use the wring words and give wrong information to customers.
Have asked Multiple times to speak to a manager, told I will get a call back and never do.
1 year no bank card replacement
They keep saying "because your card was lost/stolen, we can't issue a card"
MY CARD WAS NEVER LOST OR STOLEN- IT EXPIRED. Everytime I ring to chase this card, I get told different information. It's frustrating as I have to explain the whole situation again.
Worst bank ever, don't join if you want to have questions answered by people who know what they are talking about.

Bank card,not allowed non English speakers, wow

Last time visited Metro bankat Clapham junction, they told us prove off address. today we visited with all documents they needed. they told us we don't give for people don't speak English, what is this called R?we ask them to show or give us their policy saying bank card not allowed non english speakers, but not have it.

All good until

All good and decided to change my account from over 16s to a current account to open more use of it. Went to pay abit of money into my account at post office and was told they don’t do metro I read they do so I contacted metro and they only allow to pay into the account and businesses only not personal so to me I don’t think The account is that good for anyone other than businesses I don’t know how this Bank affords to keep the building I mean there’s nobody in that Bank hardly. The service in the bank were lovely though and even after opening and going back still lovely. But not being able to take money out at a post office isn’t great really, I want more things I can do with my own money for a personal user and Metro don’t offer that.

Metro Bank is no longer enticing

I opened an account for my children in the 'early days' that this bank opened at Holborn.It entices customers with its operations, moving away from the traditional banking system. I remember an article in a journal that actually summarised that other banks are watching to see how long Metro Bank can keep up the charade. Anyway, after Covid came and went, we seen that the 'welcome' perks have surely been eradicated. The opening hours of 7am - 7pm ( 6 days a week while Sun 9-4) have gone; the coin counting machine has gone; the card at the branch has gone; they no longer open on Sundays. They have removed all that made them competitive. So my sons now grown have moved their banking affairs to a bank that they feel is suitable to their needs. And since loyalty or perks have gone, it's who best serves that they would entrust their money.

So so so so bad

So so so so bad. Holding my account and money and unable to get into it. Many visits to store and phone calls still unable to sort it. Worst experience with a bank of my life. Never use them

Poor service or maybe I should say crap ? When I opened account was told 7 days a week opening that’s stopped nearest one open on Saturday is Brighton but am now told can only pay in £250 a day in cash I have a business account so that’s no good to a business maybe they don’t was business accounts well I have just asked for mine to close as I find them to hard to deal with they don’t call back I would say anyone has been rude but I don’t think they know what is happening really can’t wait for my account to close now

Worst bank ever

I suffered from fraud and the bank refused to refund the money saying that is a civil case
Fraud police said is a clear case of fraud but metro bank is shit

Services have completely fallen. It is no longer the bank it used to be.

I hate to say this, but 'everything' that was good about Metro Bank is now gone.
It is now just a normal bank.
I also find that their Online Banking is not always accurate. There seems to be an issue with PENDING TRANSACTIONS.. sometimes they appear, then disappear and then re-appear. Sometimes I have been put into debt (for a few hours), only to find a few hours later that I have a large balance.
It seems that their internet banking calculation methods are sketchy and chaotic.
I'm considering to leave them and go to another bank or building society, which is a shame because I really want them to do better.. and I am disappointed that they got rid of all the services they used to be good at, especially Printing new bank cards at the branch, which was actually the whole reason I joined the bank in the first place!

They don’t deserve one star but I can’t…

They don’t deserve one star but I can’t give them zero. They’ve blocked my account 2days before Christmas due to suspected fraud-I received a payment from my solicitor(inheritance) they blocked the account and requested evidence. I sent the evidence requested immediately. Still haven’t heard anything and I’m getting worried. I have no money and I’ve gone into minus in my other account.
This is so frustrating because it shouldn’t have to take this long to confirm where the money came from. They need to be clearer with the time scale because having your account locked is putting me in a vulnerable position

Difficult to get money out of account

Opened an online account with metro bank over a year ago. Three months ago the account was locked without reason and would not allow any transactions. Made several calls to unhelpful and rude staff who eventually forced me to travel over a hundred miles to a branch to get the account unlocked. The lady we saw at the branch did not even offer an apology so in disgust we closed our account. They clearly provide a higher interest rate to attract customers but make it very difficult to get your money out when you need it. Stay clear of this bank, you are better off with one offering a good customer service even if the interest rate is lower.

On arrival at Metro bank unapproachables…

On arrival at Metro bank I was supported by a member of staff who seemed very uninterested and not welcoming.
I was opening up a current account and she did not request a new card and pin as I never recieved one after 8days.
I called Metro customer service and they said they would send a new card an pin out in 7 days. A week later went back to Branch to query these episodes, was met by staff who again was not welcoming and told again it will take another 7days for card no explanation as to what is wrong. Very unhappy with service.

Disappointed

I have been really happy with this bank for about 3yrs now. However, I tried to book a hotel room with Travelodge 14/11/2024 for my sons birthday. Payment left my account, but never reached Travelodge. Customer Service tell me they can't pull it back, even though it is sat in "pending". This is now 22/11/2024, As soon as this money is back, I'm closing the account. Especially after reading the similar reviews on here.

I been a victim of a fraud transaction…

I been a victim of a fraud transaction from a fraud company named LUCKY2GO.
I reported the same day to Metro bank, what happen was that metro bank let the money from pending to be released but never try to charge back. Now they restricted my joint account with my wife which we been clients since 2016 and rather than chasing the real criminals they are holding us ransom and with bills to pay, from rent to council tax and credit cards. The way we've been treated is abismal. Metro bank should work for the clients not to criminal fraud company's. I'll never trust Metro bank ever again and now i have to go to litigation with them through ombudsman to the bank of England.
Unbelievable.

Queues always wait ages to be seen…

Queues always wait ages to be seen never more than one staff working, two new cards both not working on contactless, bank can't help any more tell you to phone customer services still not resolved new card no pin received eight weeks later loved the bank when first opened not a great fan now will move to another bank
