My central air-conditioning stopped working so I called them up. One guy shows up has a quick look and assures me that he had seen this issue before and that a $2249 'rejuvenation' would fix the problem. I questioned this and he reiterated "I wouldn't bulls#!t ya, if I didn't think it'd fix it I wouldn't recommend it". I stupidly paid this trusting that a business I'd called for help wouldn't scam me. He left and another man came out. He spent 2 hours cleaning the aircon unit, looking around and taking photos of anything he could charge me for. He then said it was broken, needed new parts and this would cost $10,000 but he recommended and pushed that I pay $20,000 to replace the unit. Realising I'd already been scammed I did not pay this. So I basically paid $2249 for nothing. I have tried speaking with customer service but they aways say no one is available. I have contacted them via email and they say that this is the regular price for that service.

I have since had a decent electrician come out and fix the problem without needing any new parts for only $220.

Scam company that takes your money and attempts to quote you $2000 for cleaning your aircon filters, a 5 min job. They never fix the problem and do not quote on parts. The callout fee is literally the business model, they collect $142 every time for doing nothing.

Worst Experience Ever! I was charged $141.90 for booking fee. Then the technician didn't turn up according to the appointment. After they delayed several times the technician came finally. He first asked sign the appointment. He briefly had a look at the air conditioners then gave me a quote $2049 for split system leaking water issue! I realised that I was cheated! They just cheated $141.90 for doing nothing!

Worst experience ever. Charged $142 call out fee and then quoted $3600 for Air con maintenance (1 year old system). Declined service and booked another plumber for $260. Literally just taking your call out fee.

Lucky for them there are no zero stars. Booked for air con repairs between 2pm and 5pm. I took the afternoon off from work and received a call at 7pm saying that they would be there around 11pm. ( WTF ) I told them it was not convenient at that time. They rebooked for 3pm to 6pm the next day. Just after 6pm, they phoned saying that they would be there sometime later in the evening. Seriously? This company obviously overbooks expecting people to put up with it because they need the service. Use them if you will, but I suggest that you don't.

WARNING! - DO NOT USE METROPOLITAN PLUMBING, AIRCONDITIONIG AND ELECTRICAL

I recently engaged Metropolitan Plumbing and Air-Conditioning after my air conditioning unit broke down. I was quoted a $141 call-out fee, which I understood to cover the technician's visit, diagnosis of the issue, and an additional quote.

However, upon the technician's arrival, he failed to inspect the unit or diagnose the fault, despite me reiterating the details I had already provided over the phone. Instead, I was told that additional technicians with special safety equipment were required, which would incur a further $149 call-out fee. I was then quoted $2,500 for a diagnosis that supposedly included safety rigging and equipment, as well as rejuvenation work for the air conditioner.

Given that my aircon unit is located on the roof of my second-storey house, I reluctantly accepted the additional charges, believing they were justified due to the stated safety requirements. Later that same day, two technicians arrived, diagnosed a fault with the fan motor, but did not use any safety equipment or rigging, nor did they perform any rejuvenation work. Instead, I was presented with a separate quote of $6,000 to repair the fan motor.

Naturally, I was taken aback by the high quote and requested a detailed breakdown of the services provided, including all invoices and a report of the work done. To date, I have only received a receipt for the initial $141 call-out fee and no further documentation or explanation.

I followed up with the company's customer service via email, formally requesting a full refund, yet as of today, I have received no response, no receipts, and no refund.

Reflecting on the experience, it seems clear that the company's quoting process was misleading and designed to impose excessive charges for services that were never rendered as promised. Unfortunately, I have since learned that this company has a troubling history of questionable practices, with multiple reports of overcharging vulnerable customers. It has even been featured on current affairs programs, and there are ongoing investigations into its business practices in multiple states. It is concerning that a company with such a reputation continues to operate within the community.

I believe Metropolitan Plumbing and Air-Conditioning should be held accountable for its actions and exposed for taking advantage of customers. As it stands, I have paid a total of $2,600 for services that were never fully provided, and I have received nothing in return but an unfulfilled promise of work.

Avoid this company like the plague. I booked AND PAID them to visit my residence on a Tuesday and they didn't show up. I had to rebook for the following Thursday and again I was told they are too busy to attend. The worst customer service ever!!!

Had to call out a plumber. After paying 141 dollars for them to come out, wanted to charge me 1000 dollars to replace a flexi hose. Scam!

I had one of the worst service experiences with this company and feel obligated to warn others. We were charged $2,439 for air conditioner servicing, but the problem was never resolved. The technician, Ron, assured us that jet cleaning and rejuvenation would fix the issue, so we agreed to proceed. Later, he claimed the entire unit needed to be replaced for $14,000—which we did not agree to.

Out of the $2,439, $1,190 was quoted as a charge for equipment to access the roof. However, they never used any equipment, like a harness, and simply used our stairs to access the roof! The rest of the charge was for jet cleaning and rejuvenation, which was completely useless. We eventually replaced the entire air conditioning unit with a brand-new Fujitsu system for under $4,000, including assessment and installation.

At the time, I was heavily pregnant and due any day, so we wanted to resolve the issue quickly. Instead, it added unnecessary stress and extra work. When I tried to contact their office to escalate the issue, I was repeatedly ignored via email and phone. After finally getting through, I was directed to a rude customer service representative who seemed trained to deal with upset customers but offered no solutions. He flat-out refused to refund or fix the problem. When I mentioned escalating the matter, he offered me a mere $100 refund—but only on the condition that I drop the complaint. I refused.

Later, I discovered this company is notorious for scamming innocent people. It’s shocking that they’re still operating in a country like Australia. Avoid this company at all costs. They lack integrity, overcharge customers, and provide zero accountability.

DO NOT USE! THIEVES

This company charged $145 call out fee for aircon issue. Then the whilst here wanted to charge $1800 for a “diagnostic test” and that just to look at it not even fix or repair it, that is additional.

Had an honest trade attend located the issue in 10minutes order the part and will return to repair all for $350.

This company floats under numerous titles “metropolitan”, “ fallon” all do the same con job to unsuspecting people and rip everyone off.

Numerous complaints on ACCC about them and the trades that work for them have zero shame in their conduct to rip people off.

Arrived at 9.00 and finished at 10.30. Very fast and efficient service

DANGER: Avoid at all costs!

These guys have a system to continually upsell, without completing the work they have quoted. Starts off with a quote, then a service, then replace parts and then a full replacement of the system. Innitial quote was $2049 then esculated upto $30,000 ...Stay Away!

The gentleman that they sent over was fantastic. Love the service.

Do not use this company under any circumstances. They charged me $1849 for less than half an hours work. Disgusting prices and a disgusting company. They don’t even deserve one star but I had no choice but to give at least one star.

I contacted these guys to repair a broken light switch. They refused to give me a quote over the phone and charged $141 call out fee. They advised that the 'electrician' would be there within the next 2 hours, he was over an hour late. When he attended he claimed that he had never seen that kind of switch before. Then went on to show me the quote which came to $849. Absolutely ridiculous to attempt to charge someone that amount for changing a switch. Definitely don't recommend. Complete rip off
