Use someone else instead

I called Metro Rod at 8:30pm for a blocked toilet and was given an ETA of 4 hours. This was treated as an urgent call-out and I was charged a night tariff.
If we had been told the truth about the delay, we would have used a local contractor instead.
Instead, the ETA kept slipping back with no clear updates, leaving us waiting overnight. We lost a night’s sleep and I missed a full day of work because we were repeatedly told someone was “on the way”.
The engineer eventually arrived at 2:00pm the following day — around 14 hours later. Despite this being a daytime visit, we were still charged the night rate, with no refund or adjustment offered.
Poor communication, missed commitments, and misleading charging. This is not how an emergency service should operate. I would not use them again and would not recommend them to anyone.

I cannot recommend this company more

I cannot recommend this company more! Our unpleasant drainage situation was made worse by one incompetent company. We then had to call out Metrorod, who came to us the same day. They quickly identified the problem, but also that we needed more help to resolve it. They agreed tp come the following day, with other specialists and we're then able to resolve our problem. Even our specialist commented on how helpful and professional Metrorod were to work with.

Avoid - Not trustworthy

I had a sewage pump which went faulty around the Christmas period. A booking was done for someone to come around on Boxing Day. I was given the first hour charge which I accepted. But the guy they sent within minutes of arriving told me he did not deal with pump issues and could not fix it and left. Said I would get a call to arrange somebody else more appropriate. I had made clear in my booking that it was a pump fault. A few days later I got called from the Huddersfield branch and I told them I had managed to fix the issue in the meantime myself and the booking can be cancelled. I asked for a refund and was refused. The girl on the phone said I was lucky I fixed it because the pump guy would have cost an additional £375.
But would not refund the money. At no point during the original booking was this mentioned. This company is a rip off. Do not pay any money upfront like I did because they will try and scam you.
AVOID.

Second time had to have this company to…

Second time had to have this company to my drains and NEVER received a call that they were on the way! First guy was fantastic, second guy I asked him to check pipes ok after being unblocked as horrible smell. He lifted covers, said not blocked they're fine. I know they're not blocked! Spent more time on his phone to his family and walking round the block than doing what I asked. He literally looked down the drain, put cover back on and said it's fine when it's not!

Outstanding service over Christmas…

This review is on behalf of my elderly mother who had a blocked drain and bathroom flood on Christmas Eve 2025. After a terrible call out with another company and her not being able to use her bathroom for 5 days over Christmas as the job was not done, on Monday 29th Dec Metro Rod were called out. Their customer service agent was Super helpful and gave us updates as to where the plumber was and how long he would be. The plumber rang as he was leaving his last job to let us know he was on route.
Damien arrived at 12.30pm and worked until 8pm outside in the dark and rain trying to find the blockage in an elderly persons complex in Mansfield Woodhouse. He was incredible and very understanding of my mother’s disability and circumstance's and kept going so she was able to spend the night at home. She had spent 5 days at my house over Christmas unable to use the stairs to proper facilities.
We are both amazed at this gentleman’s kind and determined nature to ensure he got the job done.
I do hope he gets recognition as he is a credit to your company.

I’m beyond angry and frustrated writing this. Metro Rod has failed to pay wages owed, and the way they treat workers is absolutely disgraceful.

No one should have to chase a company just to be paid for work they’ve already done. Bills don’t wait, rent doesn’t wait, and neither should wages. The complete lack of respect and accountability from Metro Rod is shocking. Promises are made, deadlines pass, and you’re left being ignored while they continue operating like nothing’s wrong.

This isn’t just “bad admin” — it’s people’s livelihoods they’re messing with. If you’re thinking of working for, contracting with, or doing any business with Metro Rod, think again. Save yourself the stress, the anger, and the financial hit.

A company that can’t or won’t pay its workers does not deserve your time, labour, or trust.

Spread the word. Don’t let others get caught in the same situation.

Great service

Had Trevor round from Metro rod…

Had Trevor round from Metro rod Dartford. How good was he. I had a worrying situation of incoming water to my underfloor crawl space. Within a hour or so job was sorted at a very reasonable price, including camera work and rodding. Trevor also had the time to explain everything going forward. He has completely done away with my stress right on top of Xmas, we can't thank the guy enough.
