I’ve had a very terrible experience…

I’ve had a very terrible experience with MT Auto Parts. They claimed they sold the engine “as it was,” but it was obvious they had worked on the engine themselves. There were stickers from their trade company showing that parts on the engine had been replaced before the sale.
They advertised the engine as having only 52k miles, but the overall condition looked more like it had done well over 100k miles. The customer service advisor reassured me multiple times that there was nothing to worry about, that the engine was in good condition, and that it would run perfectly.
I was also told there was only a 30-day warranty after the timing chain had been changed, even though the fault with the engine has no correlation to the timing chain itself. After going back and forth with them, I explained that my mechanic quoted an additional £1,000 for parts and labour to repair the issue, but their response was simply: “Your warranty has passed the 30-day mark and you didn’t change the timing belt.”
Not long after installation, serious issues appeared with the engine, including a faulty Valvetronic eccentric shaft and motor sensor. This has been an extremely frustrating experience overall, especially after being reassured everything was fine before purchase.
I paid £5,000 for this engine, which already felt overpriced, and it just goes to show: “You don’t always get what you pay for.”
Based on my experience, I would NOT recommend MT Auto Parts.

Good afternoon,

We are truly sorry that you did not have a positive experience with your purchase.

I will try to explain everything that you said. I believe all the things will be the same as we said to you when you reached out to us, and then some things you never reported.

We dismantle cars that we purchase at auctions and sell second-hand used parts online. None of the parts that we sell have been repaired by us, rebuilt, or refurbished. We do test all of our parts, but there is a limit to how many tests we can do, mostly with engines, as we do not take them apart. The engine that you purchased was running with no faults and knocks. A video was sent to you prior to purchase where the mileage was visible. We even sent photos of car’s damage. Over the phone, we did explain that we did remove oil pan to check the bottom end. Bottom end was fine and we noticed that the previous owner put forged rod bearings and pistons that were mentioned to you over the phone as well.

We do provide a 30-days warranty for all our parts, and for engines, yes, we do ask timing chain to be replaced for the warranty to be validated. The reason for that is most engines will be on higher end of mileage; the engine is already out of the car so it costs less to replace the chain, and more checks can be performed by the garage while doing the chain.

We mark every part that we sell with our warranty/ void stickers to avoid any issues if items are returned. Engines are marked as well and all components that are on it for example turbo, alternator, oil cooler and so on.

You confirmed that the issue that was reported to us happened only after car was driven for a while and not when the engine was fitted. You did not report to us any overall condition issues about the engine when it was fitted. I am sure mechanics would double-check with you if you want engine fitted if it looks like it has done double mileage than it was advertised.

The issue you reported was a valvetronic issue, it was visible after the rocker cover was removed. Again, if the timing chain had been replaced, that would have been visible, and it could have been reported to us on the day of engine fitment.

We always try to work with customers about their issues as things happen, but this instance two points of our warranty was voided and your reports did not seem genuine for example cost that you have paid for engine to be swapped, issues that you had with engine(you only reported one but in review said you had multiple), condition of engine, actual date when engine was fitted.
