Don't put our properties exclusively on OnTheMarket
So annoying that my Kent estate agent insists on putting property on OnThe Marketfirst , which appears to have a very wonky countdown clock, that keeps adding, rather than removing seconds and minutes to when your property is supposed not to be exclusively on their site. Why do agents do this? I have been waiting two days to get my house onto Rightmove - still no sign. No point in being visible anywhere other than Rightmove. All us buyers and sellers know this, but agents clearly saving money (and wasting valuable time for sellers) by using OTM and Zoopla first before shelling out for your property to go on Rightmove at higher fee. Get us on Rightmove, guys! Forget the other platforms.

I recently contacted OnTheMarket regarding a rental property after being served a Section 21 notice, as I urgently need to secure a new home. Initially, the person I spoke to seemed friendly and enthusiastic when I mentioned I was looking for a three-bedroom property. However, as soon as I explained that I work as a restaurant supervisor earning £22,000 a year, their attitude changed completely.
I was abruptly told that I would need to earn at least £60,000 to meet the criteria, and the tone became dismissive and unhelpful. There was no attempt to explore alternatives, such as a guarantor, joint applicants, or any other possible solutions. The conversation felt very one-sided and lacked any empathy for my situation.
Given how challenging the rental market is right now—especially with ongoing changes to rental laws—I had hoped for at least some guidance or understanding. Instead, I was left feeling belittled, distressed, and without any support at a time when I really needed it.
I would strongly encourage better training in customer care and more awareness of the difficulties renters are currently facing.

Disappointing pressure tactics and lack of professionalism
I had a mixed experience with Miranda in Kettering. While the property presentation itself was pleasant and the agent was kind at first, things took a turn for the worse immediately after.
She used aggressive sales tactics, giving us only a few hours to make a final decision. When we decided not to rush such a significant commitment and sent an email to explain our position, she went completely silent. Not even bothering to reply to an email just because we didn't succumb to the pressure is, in my opinion, super unprofessional.
It is a shame that a good first impression was ruined by a total lack of basic courtesy and professional communication.

Thought I was getting instant online valuation. Spent time filling out and didn’t get any valuation !
Instead my details got passed to several agents and still no valuation

Useless valuation tool.
Put my house details into their valuation model and it came up with a value 50% below similar houses sold in my area. A complete waste of time. It then listed local agents to contact for a proper valuation. Presumably to get commission . A total con.
Wrong advertising and I will contact the advertising standars authority if not corrected.
You advertised my next door neighbour's house as mine. You have mainly used his address photo with some of my property photoed, but my main complaint is zi want someone to put my old photos bavk on the site or send me them, when I bought the house in 2007.
Also you put my address in the advert when it should be my neighbours address.

Bad customer service!
I’ve been disappointed with the customer service so far. After setting up an alert on the app to receive property notifications, I was contacted three times in less than a month to “check in” on the same alert, each time asking the same questions about budget and requirements. I’m not sure what value these repeated calls add given the alert is already set up.
The last call was from someone named Jordan. When I explained this was the third call and that the frequent contact felt unnecessary, he cut me off, said “take care,” and hung up without any apology or acknowledgement. Overall, it felt dismissive and unprofessional and the team would benefit from better customer service training.
Booked a house viewing
Booked a house viewing, had to call them the next day to actually get one after sending a request, got it for 19th Jan at 1pm (text verification of the appt) when I get there I called them as no one had turned up, got told it was on their system as 12.45 and I no showed, not once was I contacted to see where I was or a reminder text I get it isn’t like other appts so I wouldn’t really get a reminder text but to have my email and phone number and still not ask me where I was it’s ridiculous, complete waste of time, don’t know if there’s any other private renting places that are better but now I’ve applied for a council house

Hopeless instant property valuations
Utterly random and mindless instant property valuation based on a phantom sale a few years ago that did not occur (and was presumed for a 2 bedroom flat rather than 4 bedroom detached house).
A waste of time and yes I checked the address

Poor quality leads and communication
OTM provided poor quality leads. After 6 months we compared our list of successful Sales and Lets to the leads provided, ZERO can from OTM. They did provide hundreds of leads, needing many staff hours to service, but not a single one was of viable quality. The rep Ami was great when selling the dream to us at the start, but once we signed there was very poor communication. When we wanted to exit they held us to small print they verbally said they wouldn't (so we just paid it to get rid) and then even after our exit they continue to keep our property listings (now outdated) on their site to make them look bigger than they are.
