I am writing this review as a warning to potential customers about OptinMonster's unethical billing practices. As a medical professional and business owner, I have dealt with numerous SaaS providers, but OptinMonster's conduct has been absolutely unacceptable.
What Happened:
OptinMonster automatically renewed my subscription WITHOUT my explicit authorization
When I contacted them immediately for a full refund, they REFUSED to provide complete reimbursement
Their customer service was unhelpful and dismissive of my legitimate concerns
They seem to rely on these "accidental" renewals as a revenue strategy
The Problems:
Predatory Billing: Automatic renewals without clear, prominent notifications
Poor Refund Policy: Refusing full refunds for unauthorized charges
Unresponsive Support: Customer service that protects company interests over customer rights
Lack of Transparency: Billing practices designed to trap customers
Impact on My Business: As a healthcare professional managing multiple business operations, I need reliable partners, not companies that engage in questionable billing practices. This experience has wasted valuable time and resources that should be focused on patient care.
Recommendation: There are many legitimate alternatives in the market (ConvertKit, Mailchimp, etc.) that respect their customers and have transparent billing practices. Save yourself the headache and choose a company that values ethics over predatory revenue tactics.
To OptinMonster Management: Your billing practices damage your reputation and drive away serious business customers. Consider this review a professional feedback on why your current approach is unsustainable.

BEWARE!!!!!
Autorenewal of your subscription is locked in to all accounts. The only way to NOT have autorenewal is to CANCEL your ongoing subscription.
In my case I am on the annual subscription, last year 2024 I paid $260 which I thought was fair for the service. Today they charged me $860 on autorenewal, no alerts or anything to say the price would go up or I was about to be charged.
I have reached out to support and will update if I get a response.

We’ve used Opt-in monster for years. Recently I had a small issue and reached out to the team, they responded quickly and in my opinion went above and beyond to ensure everything was taken care of. And a world where customer service is a lost art they excel.

My issue was immediately understood, responded to, and even though a fix wasn't available at that time, my representative remembered it and followed up to resolve it when possible.

Great company with excellent customer service. They have all of the tools to DIY improve your website and if you ever run into a snag or just have a question, their support team is top notch!

Amazing support. I emailed with a query on an embedded piece of code that they could've easily put down to an issue on our end but they did a pacth within a few hours that got it working.

It's great if you don't care about specifics like performance or that settings are implemented correctly. This platform is glitchy and untrustworthy. Support is barely there to non-existent.
I have Opt in Monster for the 12 brands I support in marketing. It's a mess. There is no enterprise data view. Data is dropped. Pop ups fire at the wrong time. Validation is impossible because caching apparently keeps old pop up setting live, even in incognito or when the browsing history is reset - suspicious.
I haven't been able to access my reporting dashboard for over a week - their solve? Clear your cookies and close your browser from a different screen. It didn't work. No response after multiple attempts.
Data and trust in the UX are paramount to me. Would not recommend.

They doubled the price of my subscription and billed me without notice. When I asked for a refund, I was denied.

We had a fantastic experience working with the OptinMonster team. Their support is very helpful and responsive and was able to guide us throughout the setup of the tool. The pop-ups were an engaging way to convert our users.

I initially wanted to try this as a small targeted test for a local promotion. I paid for the subscription and set up my promo, which seemed easy enough. I tested, re-tested until I had the response I wanted. However, when I kicked off the promotion, no pop up appeared on my site. Apparently the view I adjusted to at the last minute was a paid upgrade and not visible to my customers. I use a lot of software, you are usually informed when there is a paid upgrade.
Lesson learned, since I had a paid subscription, I figured I would try again at a later date. Then this morning, I get charged an extra $36 out of the blue, for what I don't know. Well folks, you lost me for a measly 36 bucks and I will be a vocal detractor of your company at every opportunity.
