I spent over an hour trying to make a payment. Once you have entered a car park you are captive if the app fails to work, as in my case. It is impossible to find a telephone number or email address in order to contact Parkonomy. I completed a long and detailed message using the Parkonomy template, helpdesk.parkonomy.com, but it was impossible to deliver it as an email. I am amazed that any company is allowed to operate, especially when they hold card details, when it is impossible to contact them by telephone or email.
In response to the Parkonomy response I wrote a detailed explanation 15/04/26 to the help desk as stated above but it does not send as an email. What is the mechanism for sending messages via the help desk template?

Do not use this app. I booked a parking space on Full Street Derby via Parkonomy who suggested this carpark for my destination and took payment. I now have a £100 fine from the car park company who say they do not have any affiliation with Parkonomy so I was in breach of their parking terms. I've appealed to the IAS but it's not looking good because even though I paid Parkonomy in good faith I was still in breach of the car park terms. IT'S A SCAM!!!

I parked my car at Rugely Trent Valley train station on the 19th of February this year. The Parkonomy website was not working and as we only had 15 minutes to get the train I tried to pay it on two different phones with six different debit and credit cards, not one of them would go through subsequently we've received parking fines each day for three days that we park there. This company is an absolute shower and should not be allowed to continue in business. .
Thank you for your prompt response. You will see from my communication with you (Parkonomy) that I did email you when we were on the train (so nothing wrong with the train wifi - just the app) to say that I had parked for three days and had not been able to pay through the app. I asked for a payment link but had no response. There was literally no other way to pay.

Went to a parking site in Lancaster run by the company yesterday before catching a train. None of my text messages were delivered, and did not have enough time before catching train to download and log on via app etc. have tried this morning with no success. I have also attempted to contact the owner of the site but the email address I found for them is not recognised. Also attempted to use app to pay after the event which appears to be allowed in some cases - again, no success. I have contacted Parkonomy via their contact sheet online but no answer yet and the phone number gives no access to talk to a human and there seems to be no web chat facility.
All of this leaves me extremely concerned. The car isa hire car so they will get any penalty notice, charge me an additional fee for dealing with it, and then forward sometime later to my address in Spain, where past experience tells me it will take several weeks to arrive, incurring yet more penalties.
Having seen reports from other people, I have absolutely zero faith this company will do anything to sort out the problem, preferring to leave everything to their automated system designed to increase revenue at the expenses of customers. I have no objection to paying what is due, but object strongly to being forced to pay extortionate amounts because their system does not work. As this car is a hire car, I may not even have the option of leaving to Parkonomy to chase through the courts
Following further correspondence from Parkonomy I attempted to follow their system again - still no success. Fortunately the owner of the site was at the car park this morning so I was able to pay direct, avoiding the risk of an elevated penalty notice.

Appalling company who rip people off. The app wasn't working properly and despite evidence that my daughter had tried to pay (the app said she had), they took two lots of £60 off her in one week. They take no responsibility for their own failures and are simply out to get your money. Several of her college friends experienced the same issue around the same time and were also fined.
Please be very careful if you use one of their car parks..

The payments platform is really bad and riddled with bugs.
They force registration for no reason at all. Apparently I have an account from the last time I parked and it's not possible to check out as a guest...for a car park?!
Creating a new account sends me my password via email, in plain text. This is a serious security issue.
SMS alerts (which cost £0.20 for both) are auto-opted in. This is shady in itself, but it makes no sense whatsoever when you are paying for parking after the fact when an SMS alert is completely useless.
Payment failed several times with error messages which are totally unhelpful.

I parked the car as there’s no other parking near the rugeley train valley. The app did not let me log in ( I used it before) o couldn’t access to change my new registration number and pay , I rang the phone number there, and it says if you want to change the registration number press 2,when I did so, said we do not recognise that action and the call ended. They sent me a fine (I left the car cause didn’t wonna miss the train and did not expect I was not going to be able to talk to them ) sent many messages through their app and no one replied . Will not use this app again

All part of a scam to extort money from normal people. Absolute cowboys. Deliberately doesn’t work so they can extort money.

Réponse : Parkonomy
Parkonomy is a scam company and someone should take them to court and shut them down, together with Total Car Parks.
They do not want to help customers with payments. They want to enable the operators to issue large quantities of extortionate continuous fines.
I have strong evidence that Parkonomy will not help customers resolve issues making payments. They didn't help me and I didn't even have a PCN at the time. I was just trying to understand why I couldn't pay.
I try again today and I can't pay through the mobile web portal. I was just testing to see if they ever resolved the error.

In response to your reply.
You said "Using the information you provided us at the time, we responded to give you the correct guidance having had your bank card declined and unfortunately we have no control over this".
My bank confirmed that no such transaction was declined so this statement is simply UNTRUE. You have refused to investigate why payments via the web portal are not working for me. I have raised a complaint on this with yourselves several days ago and I await to hear your reply with information about your complaints procedure. Thank you.

Response to your 2nd reply: email was sent to helpdesk @ parkonomy.com on 25th November 2025 and a repeat sent 1st December 2025. Spaces added to email address because Trustpilot does not allow email addresses in reviews.

App is useless doesn’t work at all. If you see a car park where this is a payment option just park elsewhere

What rubbish outfit. APp payment doesn't work after you've wasted time filling in all the guff they want.

Very poor app and experience. Very difficult to use “seamlessly” as claimed by the operator. Additional charges for “booking” and then sms confirmation and reminder. Although not clearly stated that these are charged at the booking phase. As others have highlighted, this is as close to a scam as it gets. Fortunately, had a previous PCN issued by them discontinued at the county court stage. Please don’t pay any PCNs issued by this company, endure the discomfort of the claim going to county court and then search Moneysaving expert threads on how to challenge these spurious PCNs, they never pursue it to judgement stage.

I am not sure when inefficiency becomes fraud but Parkonomy is getting close to it...I pulled into one of their car parks in Ipswich and found that I could not log on to their app/QR code and that tge machines were not working...they looked like they had been recently put in place, but not connected to any system...after several minutes of trying to pay,ni spent a few minutes on line searching for a new car park and drove away...and then a week later received a fine, that I appealed against having evidence of trying to logbook and paying at the next car park...they have declined my appeal.

Réponse : Parkonomy
Its a scam.
System is built to make it as hard as possible to pay or repeatedly fail. Then fine you for either not paying or taking to long.
Each company involved blames the other IE Payment App blames car park operator and vice versa when they all work together to make this scam work.

Awful experience with Parkonomy.
Parked with my two young children, tried to use the app several times and an error kept coming up. Decided to get the children out as we were meant to be going for a Mother’s Day meal, and as soon as we sat down (within 15 metres of the car) I tried again. Tried different cards. Tried calling which was cutting me off.
When I went back to the car to move it, I had been fined. I tried to appeal. I attached screenshots of the errors, explained what was happening with the calls, told them I had two young children, showed them an email from Parkonomy stating there was something wrong with my account, but they denied the appeal.
If the system doesn’t work, for what looks like many people, bring back coins and contactless payments. I for one will not be using any of these car parks again.

Was very helpful with the queries I had when I first tried to make my booking, once I had received some guidance my issue was resolved, but support were very helpful.

Réponse : Parkonomy
The query was answered but after a couple of days wait. This is not very helpful when you’re in the car park waiting for an answer.

I attempted to use Parkonomy to pay for parking at Colchester Institute, but the system completely failed. Even though I got as far as confirming the payment through my banking app, nothing was processed — my car wasn’t registered and no payment was taken.
The app itself is incredibly poor. It is awkward to navigate, does not store card details (so you have to re-enter them every single time), and regularly freezes mid-transaction. On top of that, it looks and feels outdated compared to every other parking app I’ve used — none of which have given me these issues.
Unfortunately, Colchester Institute insists on using Parkonomy, otherwise I would never touch it. Without question, this is the worst parking app I have ever encountered. If I could give it less than one star, I absolutely would!
