Thank you for your reply Parkonomy

Thank you for your reply Parkonomy. I am concerned about how you could use my credit card when I have no record of having given you the details. Can you please verify when I registered my current credit card with you and permitted you to use it? The 23rd May 2024 "Transaction"(which I did not complete or agree to) is the only one on my entire statement attributed to Parkonomy.

Hi Sue.

We can see you confirmed a car parking session booking using our mobile service at Isca Place on 23/05/2024 at 17:00 to 23/05/2024 at 22:00 with a vehicle registration number ending in VYN. In order to make this booking you would have been required to input your card details and process a payment which, for the record, was completed at 17:04 on 23/05/2024.

As we previously stated, Parkonomy is not able to take automatic payments, it is the responsibility of the parking customer to process the payment.

If you need any further clarification, please let us know and we'll do our best to assist.

My son parked in Bridgend and couldn’t get the app to work. Moved car within 5 mins. Emailed parkonomy who admitted they were updating their services at the time but the other 2 ways of paying were working correctly. Are the customers expecting to wait in the rain to try all the systems. Surely it should be advertised if one is not working. So if updating system how are you sure the other ways was working. Really annoyed as I said moved car and get issued with fine.

Hi Amanda.

We provide customers different options to pay for their parking to try and make it easier. The App, website and Paybyphone (text) services are working correctly but with some car parks, if there is a Wi-Fi/signal issue (for example), we always advise to use one of the alternative methods to ensure payment is made.

The car park operators do provide a consideration period enabling customers to pay for their parking or exit the car park and this time period can vary between car parks and operators.

We always advise, if payment cannot be made within a 5 to 10 minute period to move the vehicle. We appreciate this isn't ideal but it may mean avoiding a PCN.

If you felt the PCN was issued incorrectly by the operator or enforcement company, you are able to appeal it by following the instructions on the PCN.

If you can kindly provide us the vehicle registration number and email address and we will review our response to the helpdesk message.

Thanks for your review.

Hi Anthony.

We have responded to both your queries regarding this, please check your email spam folder if you haven't seen our responses in your inbox.

Just to confirm, your first message was received on 04/05/24 at 10:49 am and responded to on 07/05/24 at 10:55 am. The second message was received this Saturday 18/05/24 at 8.56 am and responded to on 20/05/24 at 10:28 am.

We confirmed in both our responses that you are able to unselect the SMS confirmation/reminders when making the parking session booking. The tick boxes are displayed on the booking screen on the App and website, you just need to untick/click on the two boxes to not receive the SMS.

If you need any further assistance or guidance, please message us again.

Effin ripoff

Effin ripoff! We and several other people parked here, paid a reasonable rate BUT when we returned, the car park was closed! It is not obvious when you park that the part of the carpark you are in is not 24hr. Searching round outside we found a bit that said closes at 7pm. One of the people didn't park up until 7 40!
£30 fee to get someone out to open up for us. In all cases the expiry time of our tickets was before the opening time the next morning!

Hi Andy. The car park operator is Total Car Parks, not Parkonomy for which you provide the review. Parkonomy is an online payment platform and the car park opening and closing hours are clearly displayed on the Isca Place booking page on the App and Website. There are also Total Car Parks signs displayed at the Isca Place (indoor) car park stating the 7pm closing time.

Avoid Parkonomy car parks if you can

Avoid Parkonomy car parks if you can. Neither the app nor the automated telephone service work properly. Full of bugs. And there is no Customer Service/Help number on display to ring when you need help.
I've used the same car park for some time. However the penultimate time I used the app it said 'Processing' and then reverted to home screen/start of parking session screen. I didn't subscribe to the SMS receipt message so had no idea whether it worked or not. In trepidation and at risk of a double charge I tried again. Same 'Processing' message. I wasn't about to try again in case of a triple charge against credit card. I subsequently got a penalty ticket; appealed due to app not working but appeal not upheld. What a bloody surprise.
A month later (today) I tried to park again; same thing happened; "Processing" . Tried to add a different credit card but it wouldn't let me. Said Not Available. If I was doing it wrong then that's the fault of the app design - it's NOT my fault. All apps must be foolproof. So then I tried the voice activated telephone number. It said my stored card was declined and to try another card. I tried two other valid credit cards and each one was supposedly Declined. I know this to be a lie. The credit card companies had no sign of the attempts on their system. So I paid with cash. Thank god there was a cash machine otherwise I would have another penalty for hanging around in their car park for longer than allowed.
I'm in IT for a credit card company. I know all 3 cards I used today were good. I suspect my original stored card was causing the bug in the app as the card was cancelled some time ago when I mislaid it. But of course who is going to admit they've got software bugs???? The App designers need shooting. Good job the banks do a better job of their banking apps. I shall write to the car park management and tell them to use Ringgo instead. I've had no trouble with that.

So thanks Parkonomy - you've cost me £60, as I see little point in appealing to the Independent Appeals Service. I would only lose and then have to pay £100.

Well thank you Parkonomy for replying. I'm well aware you own the app but not the car park. However it was your app failure that caused me to get a ticket, as I didn't know whether I'd paid or not. "Processing' followed by reversion to the home screen doesn't help in any way. 'Card declined, use another card' would be more appropriate. (Having said that I did try other cards via the IVR system and that didn't work either. It seems my Parkonomy account was stuck/in a loop. And I needed instant help in order to know whether I'd paid or not. Don't need 24 hr customer service. I looked on the car park info boards and couldn't see anyway of instantly talking to a human. Also I know very well that there was nothing wrong with any of my credit cards. All 3 from different banks couldn't go wrong at the same time. And I have thousands of £ of spare credit. I've got a triple A rated credit score. You need to investigate what your card processing system was doing and the interface between it and your app. Your acquirer will be able to tell you if they saw any authorisation requests come through to them or not. They keep an audit trail of everything - they're a bank, not the Post Office/Fujitsu. And your card system will also have an audit trail and store any reasons for card declines. Perhaps you ought to tell the car park owner that it was your fault they fined me and I'm damn well innocent. A £60 reimbursement wouldn't go amiss.

PS. I've tried to add a new card to my account today but it says "Currently Not Available' That's not a useful message. WHEN is it available?? Is it next time I try to park? Not helpful. Why can't I add a card whenever I want to? All YOU have to do is to validate the card but not charge it. Nowadays I believe there is a special card transaction code you can use to validate cards but not charge the account. I'm behind the times having retired, but available for consultancy.
Google the following and read it
'Visa payment account validation'

I think that advice is worth more than £60.

Hi Suem. We apologise if you feel you've had a less than positive parking experience.

Just so you are aware, Parkonomy does not own or manage any car parks, we are an online payment platform only and therefore we have no control over whether or not you receive a PCN. Car park operators issue PCNs for various contraventions and this information is not shared with Parkonomy.

On the App and website we have a helpdesk function enabling all our customers to message our customer service team who aim to respond as quickly as possible and typically within 24 hours.

Parkonomy does not decline cards, bank card declines are made by the bank if you do not authorise the payment or the card doesn't have enough funds available. Therefore, as you were unable to utilise our system for whatever reason, seeking alternative payment options was the best solution.

If you can kindly send us your Parkonomy account details to helpdesk.parkonomy.com - vehicle registration number or mobile number and we will investigate further including the software bugs you have highlighted. Our development team may be a little disappointed by your comments but all the same, we'll ask them to assist so you have a more positive experience in the future.

Thank you for your feedback.

Parkonomy.

Hi Myra.

We endeavour to respond to all customer queries within 48hrs. However, if you are referring to your query on 26th December 2023 at 18:56, we responded after the Christmas/New Year break on 2nd January 2024 at 10:21 to give instructions to assist you. It is possible the email response went into your spam folder which unfortunately, we have no control over.

The App does allow the customer to amend or add a vehicle registration number to their Parkonomy account and select which vehicle you would like as the default.

Also, if the car parking session is still active and you've added the wrong vehicle to the booking, most car park operators will allow you to change the registration number you've booked with.

If you need guidance or assistance in the future, we advise sending a message to: helpdesk.parkonomy.com where we endeavour to respond within 48 hours (or sooner during week days) - we can also phone you if you provide a contact telephone number.

Location 2460. Terrible. In site ticket machine broken. No secondary ticket machine. Expensive. Parkonomy not on Google Play Store. Wasted time googling Parkonomy to register etc. I only used site 2460 because all safe local free disabled parking spaces full. Parkonomy no respect for the disabled. Parkonomy sending SMS assuming you were going to over stay. Completely disrespectful to customers. Oh! Parkonomy charging for every SMS they send. 10p when SMS cost Parkonomy less 0.5 pence. Greed!

Hi Manoj.

We are sorry you felt you had a less than positive experience with your recent car parking session at car park location number 2460, Sykes Street, Preston.

Please note, Parkonomy does not own or manage any car parks, this includes payment machines - these are the property of the car park operator. Parkonomy is an online payment platform only.

The parking tariffs are also set by the car park operator and all parking customers are expected to pay for their parking, Unfortunately, Parkonomy has no control over this.

You are able to opt out or deselect SMS at the time of making the booking which is done by simply unticking the SMS box. Some customers like to receive the end of session reminder 15 minutes prior to the end of the booking enabling them to either extend or exit the car park.

We hope that addresses your concerns and in future, if you need any assistance, please message us on helpdesk.parkonomy.com and we will do our best to assist you.

We are sorry to hear this but it is highly likely you have clicked on an advert link which is not associated with Parkonomy. We are not aware of any tariffs which are £59.99.

We acknowledge receipt of your message on our helpdesk and have replied. We have not been able to locate a Parkonomy account using the email address or vehicle registration number you have provided.

In order to make a car parking session booking via Parkonomy, you have to create an account, input your card details and physically press the pay now button, we do not take automatic payments. Therefore the £59.99 payment has not come to Parkonomy.

Please respond to our helpdesk message if you need further assistance but we strongly advise you contact your bank as soon as possible.

Utterly ridiculous

Utterly ridiculous - virtually non existent - customer service. For some weird (technical?) reason all my cards are being declined. The last time I was charged twice. I had no reply to my email, complaining about it. There is no customer service number and no webchat facility. It means that I have to park elsewhere and walk - come rain or shine - in order to enjoy a night out in Bridgend/South Wales. There are no payment machines - (expensive) SMS bookings or smartphone bookings are the only option. I am equally cross with Bridgend Council for outsourcing their car parking management to such a ludicrous company.

Total nightmare, many drivers were struggling to navigate the poor online and text system. I eventually managed to pay, but the payment was not allocated against my vehicle. I have appealed without joy, but did get the penalty reduced to £20 as they say it was my fault. TOTAL SCAM avoid using Parkonomy.
