The Restaurant Choice Avis 

An update on my review below: Having had no reply to two messages sent via the website I rang and quickly got through to some one who was very helpful and agreed to send me a new card valid for a full 12 months equal in value to my unused card. Can't complain about that, but it's still a pity that I got no response to my messages and there is no mention on their website of what to do if you have a card that is due to expire, so won't be improving my rating.

I echo the others on here who have had no luck contacting Restaurant Choice. I've sent two messages via their website, one on 25 July and again on 4 August. Following submission the website indicates they will respond within 1-2 working days but I've heard nothing. I did get through to someone on the phone a few weeks before sending my first message, but they were clueless as to whether any extension on cards would be offered due to the lockdown. Their website has a "Latest information on our response to Coronavirus" page but this is almost entirely for the benefit of their staff and not for customers who are paying their wages. Frankly, their customer service is very, very poor. I will avoid using them in the future. Cards like this should only be attractive if they give a discount on the cost of a meal. Otherwise cash is a better option as it never goes out of date and can be used anywhere!

Complete silence to any and all enquiries. They're more than happy to take your money, but if you have any issues, they just don't respond to you. Given there's a global pandemic, you would assume they would give out partial refunds, or honour your voucher for longer, but no. They just bury their head in the sand. The type of company that this pandemic will thankfully put out of business. Shocking.

I always check reviews before buying (or using) anything so when I saw the reviews for these gift cards I was very disheartened and worried constantly throughout our meal that the cards we’d been given wouldn’t actually work (as in previous reviews) but we were lucky and ours actually did work fine (pizza express). I just wanted to post this incase anyone else is reading all the reviews and panicking, sometimes the cards do work, although that doesn’t distract from the fact that some people here seem to have been treated appallingly and are quite rightly furious, as I would be. I’m docking a couple of stars because when I asked for an extension due to Covid they said no, with my card expiring 5th August, it was quite a struggle to find anywhere we could dine in and use them that was open near us! Good luck to everyone struggling with this company, their customer service clearly needs some work.

Used website 'contact us' page form three times towards end of June/early July as card was due to expire. Voucher now expired. £15 out of pocket.

I had the same problem as many others. My card has recently expired, I have not been able to use during lockdown. Restaurant Choice to not answer heir phone or return email messages. Feel ripped off. Give cash not vouchers for a worthwhile gift choice.

Cards expiring during lockdown. I have tried to contact The-Restaurant-Choice no luck with phones, webchat etc.
Disappointing service.

My card expired during lockdown so I could not use it at all as not available on takeaway and the restaurants were closed. Asked about an extension but just told no card expired. My card expired in May.Not happy.

No extension to vouchers which have been unusable during Covid lockdown. No response to polite contact via the website form. On their website they seem quite pleased with how they’ve handled the Covid crisis. No wonder, they’ve pocketed all the money for unused cards. (See update below).

Update - I telephoned them and they’ve promised to send a replacement card with an extra 2 months as soon as restaurants reopen.

Worst and poor food , totally rip off

I ordered A traditional Food Called a Halwa Puri because I thought as restaurant name Deera Lahore so they must be specialist but trust me they rip off me and when I complaint to restaurant they showed me bad attitude and said do what you like.

Received two 25 pound vouchers for my birthday put them away and forgot about them then came across them at a later date after checking the balance on line finding out that they are no longer worth the 50 pounds that they cost after a phone call to customer service to be told yes they are worthless how is this legal it is just a con and a money 4 nothing making system so avoid

Card has money on it and within date yet has not worked in two of the restaurants on the card. No response from the company when contacted.

It’s incredible, reading how many bad reviews there are about this company. As with many other writers, we were given two cards as gifts, each to the value of £25, and with no idea when they were purchased. The expiry date of 12 months from the date of purchase seems very short in this day and age, especially when compared to other companies.
I was planning to use the two cards this week so checked the balance online and couldn’t believe that the cards had expired and the value was zero! I phone the Customer Service number and explained my situation and they have now agreed to send me a voucher for 50% of the card that had ran out within the last three months. As the other card had expired five months ago I will receive no credit. So, from gifts of £50 I will enjoy only £12.50! Better to give money than use these cards, none of which show the purchase or actual expiry dates!

Shame there is not a zero star rating because that is what they deserve. No compassion or understanding of the circumstances surrounding my bereavement which meant I did not use my card in time - not that it is annotated anywhere when it expired. Some companies just do not see the people aspect.

waited 1 hour + for order, bad service.

This was a gift for us we went to spend it today on Valentines day. We had no way of knowing when it was running out and it didn't work. I can't believe that they are aloud to do this. How much money have they made from people missing the expiry date?

It's all just a massive con, there is no reason why it couldn't last 2 years, apart from they would make much less money.

My wife rang up the company and complained and they have offered to send us a card for half the value. Still NOT HAPPY! but I bet the company is, they just took half our money for doing nothing!

Got a £25 gift card for my birthday 2019, tried to use it at 4 of the 9 restaurants on offer. Funnily enough none of the restaurants either accepted it or could process it. Waste of money. Very sad to see that it wasn't just a case of having a faulty card and that this has happened to a number of people. I hope this fraudulent business gets shut down!

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!
My husband and I received a voucher to the value of £70 as a Wedding gift. Didn't realise that it ran out of date in 12 months and as we had received quite a few vouchers we didn't have time to use them all in that time anyway. I telephoned them and they registered a complaint but I didn't hear anything and they were useless on the phone! I emailed them and emailed one of the Directors but again no answer whatsoever. My aunt paid for this voucher with CASH which has no expiry date as far as I'm aware! Totally digusted, what a waste of hard earned money! Upset, angry and want to warn as many people as possible to never, ever use these vouchers.

Don't buy one of these cards. I was at the front of a large queue in Nandos while the manager was on the phone to them to try and get the card to be accepted. It didn't work and i ended up paying the bill with my debit card. The manager said this happens all the time with these cards. Highly embarrasing!

Got a restraint card as a gift and asked google about the list of restaurants we could use and had to settle for a bad meal at Pizza Hut , somewhere we would never go. When we came to pay we were told it was a different company and not accepted there. Had to pay myself for something we didn’t really want. Now i daren’t try it anywhere else .
