Awful vacuum cleaner
Awful vacuum cleaner. The hose is very short and heavy to use, so you have to drag the vacuum cleaner with you on a short leash.
The vacuum cleaner falls over too when using the hose.
When vacuuming carpets, It is fine moving forwards, but bounces when pulling the vacuum cleaner backwards. To stop this, You have to move it backwards at a snails pace, so it takes a very long time to vacuum the carpets. No such thing as a quick whip round the lounge anymore. . It's fine on thin carpets that have very little pile
This is the lower end of the shark vacuum cleaner range and it really shows. No product testing at all, just get it out of the door to the punters.
Our previous shark cleaner was far superior, but twice the price.
That too had its flaws, as the hose would eventually tear at the base.
It is unusable on most of our carpets which are mostly new or less than 2 years old.
Do not recommend at all.
Unstable and easily falls over plus, it has a very short hose.
Sadly, this hoover is extremely unstable and easily topples over when in use. The hose is very short, so I have to lug it upstairs as I hoover. Also. quite heavy.
Seriously don’t bother !
Well I have to say for suckability and hair in the brush de-tangle ability I would rate this higher. Otherwise it’s like pushing a bison around and I now dread using it so I guess what you gain in the engine power you pay for in the heaviness of the whole contraption. Obviously tested by a 15 stone male gym goer this is NOT for 70 year old ladies looking for an easy way to hoover. Good for straight up and down on carpets but swinging around corners ? NO - it was on a Tesco website for half price and now I know why. It’s lumpy, top heavy and the tube isn’t nearly long enough to use with detachments to hoover your stairs. The advert is misleading. I wish I had stayed with H who did everything including little corners that this
“ bison “ doesn’t touch.
Really disappointed ☹️
Never thought I would say this
Never thought I would say this, but after years of using a vax, the shark lift off is lighter, more manoeuvrable, great suction. The controls are easy to use and It does a great job of stair cleaning. I waited for 6 weeks so that
the review was based on my experience
Sceptical at first but you can't always believe what you read!
Avoid at all costs
Piece of expensive plastic rubbish. Too heavy. Falls over at the slightest touch. Managed about three sessions and then it stinks - even after emptying and washing the filter pads. Cable is in a stupid place that requires leaning down every time you move.
I have recently bought a Hetty (Henry's pet hair friendly sister) and would NEVER go back to Shark.
The vacuum is very heavy and easily…
The vacuum is very heavy and easily falls over. Very hard work to push on carpets and when pulling back it is leaving ridges on the pile. Switching to hard floor on the carpets makes no difference even on low suction.
Shark Liftaway, disappointed initially, but now happier
24.3.25: I am updating my review below. There is a yellow sticker on handle which tells you to switch to minimum suction if hoovering carpets is too juddery/ impossible. This solved the problem completely. I didn't realise my carpets were so dirty, the amount of dust it sucks up is really quite amazing. Re hard floors, I use the max suction in carpet mode, rather than hard floor mode and it's much better. The narrower head (compared to Dyson) means smaller areas are accessible, though, in general, hoovering takes a bit longer. The machine is great to use under my bed as it can hoover whilst machine is completely flat with it's flexible design. I'll have to check if there's a better brush attachment to order to use on skirting etc. It's still annoying that it tips over without much effort when using the hose attachment, when there's no need to use the "Liftaway" feature. However, I have increased my rating from 2 star, to 4 star.
24.2.25: Good price and arrived quickly are my only positive comments. It does have very good suction on carpets but is too powerful as it judders across the pile and I had to switch it to hard floor mode. It's really bad on hard floors. Doesn't pick up dust or get to edges. I had to get the broom out! Just ridiculous. It falls over quite easily. The hose attachment is easy to release and return but is a little short. The brush attachment is designed at wrong angle so hard to use on skirting etc unless you're double jointed. It's heavy and sways when pushing it along, so steering takes a bit of getting used to. I wish I'd bought another Dyson. Might get my old Dyson repaired...
Where did you purchaseOnline
Utter crap
Utter crap. The Shark vacuum liftaway. I've had to superglue the hoze and tape it as it keeps splitting. The vacuum won't stand upright on it's own. Poor materials. Poor build quality. Don't know why they call it a shark. I've seen tougher goldfish. Do not buy. Total waste of £350.00.
Woeful
If you're looking for an efficient, easy to use vacuum cleaner this is definitely NOT the one for you. Shark seem to have forgotten what this device is used for and have produced a massively over complicated 'cleaner' with cheap and nasty materials and matching build quality.
The suction is immense and, in my opinion, ridiculous making vacuuming a carpet an arduous task. The cleaner head begrudgingly moves along the carpet as it tries to suck up the underlay or better still tries to east any loose fitting rugs. As for suggestion this machine is able to detect what surface it is cleaning, dream on, it hasn't a clue and will flash red and just stop working. When overriding the so called surface 'detection' mode it cleans ok but should you switch off to move an item and then continue the clever little thing has reverted to 'detection' mode and you have to start the process again to carry on cleaning.
The cleaner is heavy and, as previously mentioned , materiels and build quality are cheap and nasty. The plastic bin is made of thin fragile plastic, the hinges for both top and bottom emptying appear to be made and designed to break.
The electrical cord is similarly made of the cheapest of materials. Why oh why does any manufacturer of a corded electrical product think that the end user would be happy with a cord which immediately tries to return to its coiled stored shape, memory wire if you will, which snags repeatedly or tries to wrap around any obstacle.
This vacuum, full of totally unnecessary gadgets and gimmicks, will be going back. Shark engineers need to understand a very simple concept, just because you can doesn't mean you should!
I have just bought shark lift away …
I have just bought shark lift away hoover what waste money as I can't use it on my carpets or my rugs .I won't be buying shark again
NOTE: THE HOSE IS SEPARATE FROM THE HOOVER HANDLE!
I want to add my review regarding accessories for Shark Lift Off Hoover. Recently I had to order a hose for the 602UK series and was astounded to see that you had to buy the hose and handle together. By rights a customer should not be told this or charged £41.99. The hose unclips from the handle. I took a photo but can't get it on here. My hoover is a 702 and again the hose and handle are separate.
Delivery was quick
I don't know where this beauty came…
I don't know where this beauty came from but omg I'm so impressed. I've wanted one since they came out. And it's definitely worth the wait. So easy to do the stairs. I've had Dyson etc and always gone back to my faithful Henry. Well sorry old boy you've just been made redundant.
Designed to be unrepairable
Fine while it lasts but is deliberately designed to be unrepairable. I need to replace the motor / switch for the roller, which is a very common fault. I've found that at least one of the screws appears to have a custom head which my tool set can't match. Advice online from repair companies echoes what I've found - shark builds in 'features' designed to force you to buy a new one rather than fix the one you have. At a time of climate crisis this is an absolutely shocking example of vulture capitalism. Will never buy one again and would urge you not to either. Totally disgraceful.
good vacuum for dust and hopeless for anything bigger
I have owned this vacuum cleaner for two years now and this is the problems I find with it.
1. Anything bigger than dust it just pushes along the flooring
2.The convoluted hose at the rear is too short, it doesn't extend easily
3. On tiled floors it hasn't the power to suck up dirt from the grouted sections
I bought this cleaner based on recommendations that it was the best one for hard floors, it isn't it need a larger gap to allow crumbs and larger debris to pass underneath.
Customer services brushoff
T
Bought a NVT600UK to replace a flimsy Dyson so-called "Animal" vacuum that burned out. The Shark is refreshigly sturdy and seemed well built. It was ok for about 18 months, but did have a tendency to fall over when using the wand.
Then the main motor failed, so I repaired the machine with a kit. Soon after the floor brush nozzle unit failed and I couldn't face repairing that, so bought a replacement for £75 (direct from Shark) which has just died. No lights, no motor.
It has lasted 7½ months.
I rang customer services 0800 number and get a distinctly Far Eastern American English language school voice on the line and after taking a few details, I get put on hold for 30 secs or so. Then another similar voice comes on the line and I am told quite firmly that there is no warranty on parts!
The brush head is a good 40% of the cleaner!
"Where did you purchase this item Sir?" twangs the cheery voice.
"I bought it direct from Shark UK"
A surprised silence...then "there is no warranty on parts, only whole machines"
"Thankyou for wasting my time"
I am sure that under the Sale of Goods Act an item should last for 12 months? It used to be 24 months under EU law but you know what happened...
Complete waste of money and time.
I have had enough of using this!! More often than not I need to take it apart to unblock it. It doesn’t clean into the edges and the suction in the hose won’t pick up pieces larger than grit. I won’t even go into the dog hair that it leaves on the carpet 🙄 Absolute expensive rubbish!
Nothing good to say
Nothing good to say. Wish I hadn’t bought this vacum cleaner. Upright won’t stay upright when using tools. Keeps toppling as does the Lift Away. Lift Away too heavy to hold but you put it down and it topples. Have been hit with it so many times. It is dangerous! Don’t know how this machine got through product testing.
The shark lift away needs a body…
The shark lift away needs a body builder to use it it’s far too powerful and has no real adjustments the fact you can’t adjust the brush head position makes it impossible to use on carpets and rugs….it’s not fit for purpose.
After reading such great reviews on…
After reading such great reviews on Shark LiftAway i purchased one. It does do a great job on carpet....but it's SO HEAVY to manouvre and pull about. I feel like ive done a "work out" after using it!! Bad choice i made choosing this brand.
Great customer service
I have had my shark liftaway just over 2 years with no problems. Very Happy. I recently noticed that the handle attached to the wand had broken and was coming off whilst hoovering. Rang the warranty number got straight through and the gentleman was so helpful. Sent me a link for a video call. Showed him the issue and it was sorted. A new wand will be sent to me free of charge absolutely brilliant. service
