My stylist sends items that are exactly in line with my described tastes and petite size. For petite women, I recommend Short Story without reservation! They are fun to work with and have great customer service!

I love working with a company and associates that try to find the exact clothing that I request and that fits! I tried Stitch Fix for awhile but nothing ever fit. Now, I really look forward to a Short Story box because I always find something in it that is unique and flattering. I live in a rural area of NC that has very few quality shopping establishments, but even if I do find something in this area to buy that fits me, I never find anything that is different than what other people in this are buy. With Short Story, i receive many pieces of clothing that are unique and flattering. My absolute favorite piece that I have received is a fake leather motorcycle jacket in burgundy suede.... I get compliments on it every time I wear it. And... I'm the only one if this area with a jacket like this.

I am extremely satisfied with my ShortStory service. I submitted my monthly items back and long story short they where lost. I was terrified thinking I was going to pay for the items I did not keep. Janice helped me and put me at ease. She took care of the package dilemma and now I can enjoy my birthday and next package coming soon. You have a loyal customer with me! Thank you Short Story. Clothing from this company is definitely on brand. The petites fit very well (unlike other subscription boxes) and the quality is good. They are also very responsive by email.

I mainly use them for professional clothing, and they do okay with that. Nice and unique tops and blazers, but not a ton of suits yet.

I love that the clothes are tailored to fit smaller women. Specifically, the pants are always the perfect length. The customer service is top notch.

I received my first box from short story June 2026 and it was not what I was expecting. I live in palm desert CA with high temperature in summer and all the clothes were for winter ..None were the colorsi preferred . I sent them all back but I top I can wear this winter.i wrote them my greviances they responded and said they agreed . The catch is they are keeping my $25 fee and said I would not be charged a styling fee for my next order.. what next order I want my styling fee back. They also said they are a small company but I could choose another stylist..

I love Short Story!
I am 5'2 and the items have fit perfectly. The stylist includes items I have requested as well as a few other items I would not normally choose for myself as I am not very adventurous.
Anna was quick to respond to my questions and very helpful.
The return process is super easy and convenient as well.
I have recommended their services to all my friends, family and complete strangers that have complimented my outfits.
I am always so excited to get my box!

After posting this review and contacting customer service, Short Story responded, refunded the unexpected $25 styling fee, and offered options for dealing with the 5-day preview period.

I appreciate the professional response and willingness to resolve the issue, which is why I've updated my rating from 1 star to 3 stars.

That said, my original concern remains. The website does not make it easy to fully cancel an account or remove stored payment information, and we were charged for a shipment after changing the account to "Self Scheduled" as recommended. The customer service team ultimately made it right, but I believe the account management and cancellation process could be much clearer and more user-friendly.

I'm leaving this review to provide a complete picture: courteous and responsive customer service once the issue was brought to their attention, but a frustrating experience trying to stop the service in the first place. I hope the company continues to improve the user experience so future customers don't encounter the same issue.

If the service works for you, great. Unfortunately, when it doesn't, stopping the service can be frustrating.

1. There is no customer support phone number. Emails are acknowledged promptly, but responses can be slow or, in my experience, not arrive at all.

2. There is no clear way to completely cancel the service. After deciding it wasn't a good fit, I discovered there was no option to delete the account or remove the stored payment method.

3. The FAQ recommends changing the shipping frequency to "Self Scheduled" to stop receiving boxes. I did that and it worked for a couple of months. Then, without making any changes, my credit card was charged $25 and I received a notification that another box was being shipped. I contacted customer support immediately, but the shipment proceeded anyway.

For transparency, I'm posting this review on behalf of my wife, who was the account holder. Our experience may not be everyone's, but potential customers should understand how difficult it can be to stop the service once enrolled.

I’ve had two boxes sent and I believe that value is there. I’ve bought an item out of each box and what’s nice is they take the $25 styling fee off whatever you purchase. Some items are total “no’s” for me, but their check out form is detailed and I’m sure if I kept getting boxes more and more pieces would match my liking. I got an amazing out of jeans that fit me perfectly and were super comfortable - this is sooo rare being petite. Customer service is great! I accidentally forgot to put one item in the return package and they sent me another shipping label right away. There was a mishap with items being charged for, but again, their costumer service stayed consistent and eventually refunded me. I’ll definitely be ordering more boxes in the future. This service is worth a try, especially given the troubles we shorties constantly face while shopping.

I’m 52 years old and 4’11. Just got my second box and everything was a keeper. No more paying for clothes plus having to pay for it to be tailored. I’ve tried the competition and short story’s quality is much better.

After cancellation they will continue sending you boxes under the ruse. It was prepared before you canceled auto shipments. Afterwards, they will also refuse to delete your billing information so they can continue sending these unwanted boxes.

The first box I received I kept like 3 or 4 items but the 2nd box it was a disaster, they didnt read my request. They were sending me winter pieces and shirts that were not even in my size or style. One of the shirts from the 2nd box had snags in it. I wrote them bc I lost my styling fee bc I didn't keep anything. I wrote an email which took them almost 14 days to respond. When they did they were nice, waived my styling fee and said they were getting a new box together and shipping it out ASAP. I just received the box today that last email was March 17th and its now April 21st. Thats not asap. The new box was still crap, shirts that werent my style, one cute black mini cotton dress cute but nothing fancy, it was 90.00!!!!!!!! I didnt keep anything. I tried wantable and received 9 items and kept 6 things and they shipped way faster. Cuter pieces and better prices. I will not use short story again.

My biggest problem with short story is not their product. But they do not make it clear that after creating an account (putting payment information and personal information), there is no way to delete it. I’ve contacted customer service for weeks, and though they responded, they have yet to delete it. It concerns me that a company would hold on to your information and not be honest up front that they will do so.

The pants fit perfectly.i like Short Story selections.

Buyer Beware

I’m really disappointed to be writing a negative review because, overall, the service itself is great. I genuinely saw myself continuing the subscription long-term.

However, after returning my first box within the required timeframe, I received an automated email stating they hadn’t received my return. I replied to clarify that it had been sent back, and a representative quickly responded, confirming it was a mistake and that they could see the tracking information.

A few days later, I received another email with the same claim—but this time, they charged my card $350 for “unreturned” items.

There is no phone support or reliable way to contact them outside of email, which has made resolving this issue frustrating. I’m currently trying to get the charge reversed and have already canceled my subscription.

Unfortunately, it’s just not worth the hassle to deal with a company that doesn’t seem to have its processes fully in order.

I get a variety of items to try on. Many times it's something I wouldn't have chosen myself. Most everything fits me too. I'm not waisting time at a department store attempting to find things that fit. The best part, I don't see someone else wearing the same things as me. I'm over 60 and I'm dressing so I feel good and look youthful.

Short Story Box answered my question promptly and clearly. They were eager to help and accommodated my request with ease. They were friendly and so helpful.

Short Story has owed me $419 for several months now for a box of clothes that I returned. All I get are excuses and assurances that they are working on it but in reality nothing is being resolved. The Representative claims "she is monitoring the situation daily" and "understands my frustration." I'm afraid I will never get the refund that is owed me and I am being SCAMMED!

In addition, their clothes are not that impressive.
