too horrible an experience for our move from London to Italy

Overcharged hidden charges once they had our stuff. Delivered 2 days later than they promised because “Switzerland and Brexit”. Switzerland have never been in the EU.

Their unpacking service which we won the Judgment for involved “we throw everything on the floor and just take the boxes away love”

DO NOT GO NEAR THIS DREADFUL COMPANY!!!’

The additional charges you refer to were quoted as optional items at the time your quotation was prepared but were not taken up when the contract was agreed. The additional options were subsequently taken up before delivery was made. It was very unfortunate that an error in the customs documentation prepared by a French company for another of the deliveries on our vehicle held up our truck for 2 days in Switzerland (which has never been in the EU) whilst the problem was resolved. Annoyingly there was nothing we could do to overcome the problem as the Swiss authorities at the border refused to release our truck until it was resolved. You were kept fully informed of progress at all times.
A new system introduced in the UK by the courts service failed to notify us of your claim and we therefore had no oppportunity to defend the claim you made, which we would have refuted in relation the unpacking service provided.
We are sorry that we were not able to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction.

DO NOT USE THIS BUNCH OF COWBOYS

Like other reviewers do not use this bunch of cowboys.The key issue is if you have a full or part load. Most will have part load and as such you will have absolutely no control as to when you will have your stuff delivered. This is because (in Spain) they use subcontractors and you will only get a delivery when it suits them. Again, like other reviewers we felt that our stuff had been kidnapped and they could not give any delivery date whatsoever. Furthermore, we were not in when they tried to deliver with absolutely no warning so they took our stuff to a warehouse in Malaga a 2hrs drive away and we had to wait a couple of weeks more until they felt like delivering to us. A couple of items were left in their van and we had to wait a further 2 weeks before they arrived by courier with some damage to a TV which we couldnt be bothered to take it further as we wanted nothing more to do with them.
All in all a terrible and stressful experience and once they had your full payment in advance they simply had no interest in their customer.
We had no problem with the actual removal guys they were fine. Just the office and Admin.

This has got to be the worst ever …

This has got to be the worst ever shipping company in history. We moved from the UK to Cyprus in Oct 2017 & we stupidly decided to book with Simpsons to ship our stuff to Cyprus, BIG MISTAKE. As when we spoke to a guy in the office called ersin for a quote, he sent someone round who took photos of our property & then came back to us within 2 days with what we thought at the time was a very cheap quote & cheaper than the other shipping companies. Now ersin told us that based on the volume of our property, we would only require a shared container, not a sole container as we don't have enough volume for a sole container, so we stupidly agreed as he explained it was half the cost & we'd save money as we would be sharing the container with another person who was also having goods shipped to Cyprus & it would only take maximum 4-6 weeks tops for our property to arrive to Limassol. We thought ok no problem, but then simpsons decided to take an extra £336 out of my bank account without my authorisation as he claimed that when simpsons gave us a price it was based on 556cubic feet in volume & when they got our goods back to their warehouse and apparently measured the cubic feet again, we were over the agreed 556cuft that we had already paid for and agreed in writing , but no ersin was adamant that the extra £336 had to be paid or else Simpsons would not ship our goods at all, we didn't agree to them taking the extra money they just took it and fed us a fairy story that we had to pay and regardless that we already paid them the final bill in the 1st place , they threatened not to ship our goods if we didn't pay the extra money. Now amongst our property was our deceased son's belongings aswell which they didn't care about as once they took the money that was that. We left the UK in Oct 2017, it's now Dec 2017 & they still haven't shipped our stuff at all, if anything they kept making bs excuses that they were waiting for another consignment to load onto the shared container. We emailed them, & phoned them on numerous occasions explaining that it was a matter of urgency that our stuff is shipped immediately as it's been longer than the 6 weeks as promised & they have our late son's belongings & they couldn't care less about us or our late son as they saw fit to physically keep hold of his property as they were refusing to ship it to Cyprus for no reason whatsoever & they were keeping it against our will. On top of that we've now had to fork out an extra £2700 to an actual shipping company to collect our property from Simpsons warehouse & ship it to Cyprus, something you'd think it was Simpsons job to do , after all that is what they were paid to do & failed miserably. Also we received an email from Simpsons explaining that they would be refunding money back into our bank account as they did not ship the stuff at all eventually. But they have failed to refund us the money they originally took from us, as we are constantly emailing them on a regular basis quite rightly asking where our refund was , but they don't reply to any of our emails. We are a Greek-Cypriot family & the person who was supposed to be our so called " Point of contact " is Turkish, now that shouldn't be regarded as an issue, but that's exactly what it turned out to be, as he deliberately decided against our will that Simpsons had the divine right to just take £336 out of our bank account, without our consent. Then we were messed about to over & over again as to when our property would be shipped to Cyprus, ignored our emails & calls. Basically, it doesn't make any difference that we're Greek & he's Turkish as the company are English, but the most crucial point here is that from our point of view based on our horrible experience with this company is that they have no idea about excellent customer service at all , as there was none whatsoever when we tried to communicate with them regarding our shipment & refund which, as of today 06/06/2018 we have yet to receive our refund as promised, as this has yet to materialise & doesn't look likely that it's going to either. We have emails from the company stating that some form of a refund was being processed by the accounts department and that the amount payable back to us would be refunded back into our bank account asap, this was back in January 2018 & we're still waiting for a refund. Βottom line, we want to make the community aware & take our advice from our horrible experience as Simpson's paying customers. Steer clear from this poor excuse for a Shipping Company at all costs. Simpsons are by far the worst Shipping Company Ever , As once they had Got hold of our money, they then couldn't care less about us, & the fact that our goods were still not shipped or the fact they conveniently tried to get out paying us back our refund which we are still entitled to & we will fight to get our money back from them for as long as it takes, as there's only so long they can hold onto money that doesn't belong to them whatsoever as that's our refund which they no more excuses but to pay it back in full. Unfortunately I had to put a one star rating as I wasn't allowed to give it no stars, but even a one star rating is one star too many for this poor excuse for a shipping company, they are just heartless who are just interested in making money by any means possible. Warning Avoid at all costs, they are very economical with the truth & that's just being polite.

Do not ever use this company.
They will with hold your goods at there depot and charge you extra.
I paid them £740 to move me over to Sutton-in-Ashfield from derby. They told me when they did the quote that they would supply rails for my clothes and they didn't. They turned up at 10.30 and they were aware the there had been problems with the exchange but we decided to go ahead in the hope that the money would transfer for the house that afternoon. All my stuff was packed on the trucks fine and the 3 guys they sent were lovely. They set off to the new house with my stuff. I drove up to Mansfield to get the keys from the estate agents. I got a phone call from their manager at 15.45 to say that they would need to charge overtime at £90 a hour. I accepted this. I got the keys at 16.30. I was walking back to my car with the keys to head back to the new house when I got a phone call from a very abrupt and rude receptionist who told me that the men were returning to the depot with all my belongings. I was very upset and told her I had nothing with me at all. She didn't appear to care and said that the men would leave a bed on the garden and that they would load my things into storage and redeliver in 4 days time. I was horrified. I told her that I had agreed to pay overtime and she said that nothing had been said to her and the men were leaving. I got back to the house to find a mattress left. No bedding no pillow nothing. I have a pituitary tumour and hypoparathyroidism and I realised that my medication was packed on the truck. My gp had to order emergency medication because I tried to ring their office and nobody was answering. I had nowhere to go and no clothes food belongings at all. The following day I rang them up by this time very angry. The receptionist was adamant that they could not deliver for another 3 days right before Xmas day. I told her that I would get another company to fetch my stuff that day. She put the phone down on me. Then I rang her back and asked why she had put the phone down and she said it was because she had finished speaking. I explained that my medication was on the truck and she said that was my fault for packing it. I told her that I would contact the police because it amounted to theft. I got a phone call later that day and was told that they would deliver the next morning at a cost of a further £990 which included redelivery storage costs and 2 hours overtime for them having to unload my things into storage. I was contacted to give card payment over the phone otherwise they would not deliver. I was very distressed. I paid and made it clear that it was under duress. My belongings were delivered but so much in the boxes has been broken including a unique stained glass clock and many of my glasses and one of my picture frames. I still haven't found any of my remote controls for my TV etc. Also the attachments that hold my shelves in my glass unit are missing so it's rendered useless. I am now left with no money to buy family Xmas presents as a result. This company are fraudsters. If it took them 2 hours to unload my stuff at their depot and they knew I was 10 minutes away before they left the house they should have simply charged overtime to unload it at the house. But they wouldn't do that because they took my goods so that they could charge again for delivery in addition to the overtime. I will not stop until this company are out of business because they treated me so appallingly that day. I have never known such vindictive administration staff. I will be seeking damages and compensation having already spoken to trading standards. Apparently they are approved by Which. I will be informing every agency that endorses this company and ensuring that all people are, aware of their bad practices

Do not use! Bad reviews all over the net and such a terrible experience

I placed my trust in this company. I can’t but disagree and strongly advise not to use Simpson’s at all cost!
A agent came and assessed my house. It was fairly simple and a fee was agreed and my items would be loaded in Colchester, UK and delivered to one address in Cape Town, South Africa. My items as described by the receiving agent were first on the container and last off. Impossible to get stolen or remove during shipment...

The container was full, my 2 box’s each 250sqft were full! When I received my shipment it was missing a three seater sofa, washing machine, fridge and parts of my double bed! My wife is devastated as we now have no clue what else is missing as there was a box with no number on that appeared. On the day every item had numbers and seemed to have been thoroughly gone through! When the items arrived I was missing large items almost impossible to lose! I sent a set of sofas, one arrived! Simpson’s have ruined our move. Cost me far more than the pay out. I paid for 500cubic ft to ship and they never shipped a great deal of it.

I took out insurance and received a small payout. I emailed Simpson’s saying due to not actually completing or ever sending the agreed amount of cubic feet I deserve some compensation. The reply was simply you are only entitled to insurance claim. I believe this company is horrific, DO NOT use at ALL Costs! Terrible service, terrible after service and all round bad experience! 0 stars out of 5.

Contact me for full story if your thinking of using this company! I will gladly give you enough reasons to look elsewhere!!

Warning: they can kidnap your goods

I totally discourage anyone using Simpsons Removal services. My experience has been dreadful, with the company actually “kidnapping” my goods before delivery.

Basically, I was told the day before scheduled delivery of the goods in Madrid (moved from London) that I had to pay extra GBP 600 to have the goods transferred into small vehicles, since there was a traffic restriction in the city of Madrid they never mentioned. They had a month to let me know of the issue, and they blame me of not knowing local regulation in the whole city of Madrid, which is something I did not agreed to.

I had to pay the extra 600 GBP to get my stuff delivered, with Simpsons Removal claiming my goods would be send back to the UK if I did not pay.

If you decide to use their services, please ensure you know every single transport law, as the company will blame you if you fail to do so…. and you would have to pay extra…

Damaged goods due to poor packing and handling

We moved a 7 bedroom house from UK to Demark 1st July 2017.
We paid for packing, and that was a mistake.
A lot of our drawers with bits and peaces were not packed, though we several times made the packing crew aware of it.
In the van, the unpacked drawers were turned upside down, which made the drawers a chaotic mess, with broken things.
Our furniture were scratched due to poor wrapping in the van, and a lot of our belongings were not packed properly. They had just tossed our things into boxes with no wrapping.
A lot of things with sentimental value were not wrapped, and therefor damaged.
Now 3 month later, we are still struggling with the insurance company, which will not accept our claim.
Be aware that you also only have 7 days to make the claim, which is impossible, when you have 450+ items to unpack.
Do not use Simpsons removals, they are extremely unprofessional.

Avoid

I recently moved the content of our London home to Lisbon. With £5,226 plus insurance, Simpsons provided the best offer for a partial load. A partial load is a service whereby your belonging will be shipped together with other people's belongings. The timing depends on demand for a certain route. This flexibility is spelled out in the T&Cs.

Prior to hiring Simpsons, the company send a surveyor who told me that a normal delivery time to Portugal is between one to three weeks. My expectations was built accordingly and we packed our suitcases with everything we needed for three weeks.

It has now been 19 days since the collection of the consignment and, after trying to find out the delivery date for more than a week, I was told today that it would not be three weeks but at least six weeks until my goods are delivered.

The sales manager was rude and provocative and showed absolutely no empathy, insisting that the company was in its full right to deliver within six or more weeks. Whilst this is correct, the service was missold as I was led to believe that delivery would occur within no more than three weeks.

Given the service and communication, I can only recommend not to choose Simpsons for your move.

Avoid.

Simpsons have been holding my belongings for 15 weeks. No sign of any movement. My family's move to Canada has been ruined.
As soon as we paid, they had no interest.
There are a LOT of horror stories online - be warned!
Removal men were ok.

I shipped some items of furniture and …

I shipped some items of furniture and books to Ireland from England. The pick up was all good, but then it was an absolute mess from then on. I was assured it would be there within a month, so booked flights to go unload it. It didn't show up until after I left. When I called, they said that they could get someone else to take it quicker, but it would be an additional £450. They changed the date 3 times, saying they had to give the job to someone else as the truck it was on had "technical difficulties." This other person didn't show up on 3 occasions when they said they would. When they did show up, with 1hrs notice, there was only 1 man. They had assured both myself and my 70 year old neighbour that she would just have to open the door. There is no way that this one guy could have carried the large dining room table by himself. Luckily, another neighbour was passing and came in to help. The icing on the cake was when I found that they had taken three boxes of books that weren't supposed to go. I would never use these people again. Awful.

Items missing and delayed delivery

Simpsons moved all my belongings from Brighton, UK to Cork, Ireland. One of my items went missing and the delivery was later than confirmed on booking. I don't recommend using Simpsons for European removals.

COMPLETE DISASTER!

Packing and removal went smoothly. However once they secure my possessions for shipment from UK to Australia I witnessed a complete transformation. The support team couldn’t have been less supportive. In fact they purposely tried to make my life difficult by withholding my possessions. The removal occurred over 2 weeks ago and I am now in Australia, however my consignment is still in the UK warehouse! This is despite the surveyor telling before the quote they ship several consignments a week to Australia – so clearly an untruth to make the sale. Simpsons will not provide any update. I have complained to the BAR to which Simpsons have said they will now not move anything. Essentially holding my belongings hostage. The other companies who quoted me warned against going for the cheapest, Simpsons – I wish I had listened! I have no confidence I will ever see my belongings again so am seeking preemptive legal advice. You have been warned.
