Poor quality if your a heavy haulage…

Poor quality if your a heavy haulage mechanic, overpriced, the 18v batteries are weak. The representative only come round on payday so they can collect the bag full of cash and pee off for another 3 weeks. God forbid your tools break ie 1/2 inch air gun £185 to be sent away for repair which will take months. I'm done with them switching to milwaukee for my battery kit they are far superior. Don't waste your money.

impressed!

This review is regarding the Snap-On CT8850. This tool is a ½ inch drive impact driver used for removing rusty, seized bolts. It is a pretty hefty tool but Snap-On did a great job manufacturing it and removing any unnecessary weight. It is not a heavy tool but it can take on heavy tasks. The battery it uses is an 18 volt 4.0 mah or 5.0 mah battery and it lasts a long time. I just bought one a while ago and it is still on its first charge after a lot of use. The main shaft is at an angle above the handle plane in case you need to take off wheel lug nuts and the tool can't fit because it's being blocked by the wheel. Snap-On fixed that when they produced this tool. It is an amazing idea that improved the ease of use tremendously. The material is made out of a tough rubber and a heavy plastic. The rubber parts include the handle, making it comfortable to hold, and some parts of the shell. The heavy plastic makes up most of the shell which makes it feel very durable. I have been needing an impact driver for a long time and I was skeptical at first when purchasing because Snap-On’s products are a little pricier than other companies like Matco, Milwaukee, and Dewalt, but this tool was well worth it and Snap-On and Milwaukee tools will always be my personal preference. I believe they make the most durable, and effective tools in the trade. This tool has helped me with really tough tasks like over torqued tractor lug nuts to crankshaft bolts; it takes the bolts right off without a problem. Well done Snap-On!

Customer support is thick

Customer support is thick. I've asked the same simple question three times now and have gotten three different non-answers from three different people in the same email chain. Their electronic torque wrench has a poor battery compartment design that loses contact during the torque process. So I'm asking for the maximum safe operating voltage of the internal circuit. First response "I do not show we carry a battery pack for this item. Unfortunately if this unit has been modified in any way we can not direct you on what can be used." Second response "I apologize, we would only be able to inquire about the voltage with the original battery pack in this. I do show this can be sent into our repair center with a $125.00 flat rate repair cost. Is this something you would like to do? If so, please advise your full address, phone number and where the tool was purchased to get a warranty started for you." Only there is no battery pack, this wrench operates on 3 AA batteries. Third response "Per our engineer, it’s not an insulated TW so we don’t typically test it on energized circuits." My question? "What is the maximum voltage the circuit inside the torque wrench can operate at safely? If you can't answer, forward my query to an engineer or someone who can."

Impossible to get any kind of customer…

Impossible to get any kind of customer support. I've been a long time customer 10+ years. And the quality of the tools has gone down significantly. No longer truly made in America. It's all Chinese garbage now. You're better off buying harbor freight tools, at least their customer service is willing to help. And forget trying to order anything your rep doesn't have on the truck. 6+ months. Good thing I don't make a living with these tools. Oh wait. I do. Or did. Can't make money without the tools. Can't pay snap on without the money. I will never buy anything from snap on again.

I am service manager at Toyota

I am service manager at Toyota. Snap on sold me a defective $20K tire machine. My techs broke multiple rims and damaged tires. Had snap on rep come out and train my techs on how to use it: the tech they sent broke a tire and rim (my employees). Snap on refused to pay for it or acknowledge the defect in the machine. Ted our area rep was a D*** about it the whole time and refused to help. The tech from snap on that broke it came out and offered me his own money to pay for it. Did not take it but appreciated the gesture. Snap on is no longer welcome in any of my groups 5 dealerships. Unbelievable. I hope snap
On sees this and when you do email me. I am located in Boston metro.

I am only giving this a 1 star because I can't give it a zero. I have been a long time customer of snap-on and when my account was finally paid off snap-on continued to run my payment. When I finally found this and that my account was paid off all they could tell me was we will refund it but it is going to take about a month in half or longer to get the full amount back. Customer service is terrible inwould not recommend snap-on anymore. Cornwell and other brands have better customer service

I couldn't have asked for a better snap on vendor, Brian smith

So I've had Brian Smith the vendor for kingston and the surrounding areas. He has been nothing but amazing from the time I met him till today, where I still deal with him. My credit wasn't that great he went out of his way to make sure I got nothing but the best interest and so forth for my credit. My credit is now 700 Thanks to snap on and Brian Smith. Hands down the best vendor I have ever delt with he's honest, fair, friendly, extremely intelligent when it comes to every aspect about snap on and how he deals with his customer. I got another job where he doesn't go, but I've delt with him for so long I told him that when he gets to his stop that's closest to where I will be working that I will take a lunch to go meet him. I wish nothing but the best for Him and his family and his serious awesome peterbuilt snap on truck!!

When you die, they seize your tools.

My son who was an car audio technician had been buying Snap On for the past 5 years. He passed away on Nov 10 this year. He died at 11am. At 6 pm that day the Snap On truck owner seized his entire tool box plus personal items. Without even a phone call to his family. They’re now holding them demanding payment or the tools are resold. So basically you’re just renting the tools as when you die they take them back.
He refuses to even show me an inventory or what was taken and a lot of it wasn’t even snap on that he basically stole while I was still in shock of my sons death.
DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY.

Where do I start… I’ve been in the…

Where do I start… I’ve been in the trade more than 15 years and have purchased well over $100k in snap on tools. The quality has dropped off considerably over the years. Most recently I had a couple tools I purchased one a butane soldering iron which on to my second one will not work out of the box and my dealer explained snap on is no longer providing warranty on them. $230 down the drain. Second was my snake light that literally quit working after using 3 times. My third and final straw was a piano hinge failure on my road chest. I had to pay near what I paid for the first one to get that problem resolved and the rep said it was lack of lubrication. I pulled out the owners manual and asked if either him or my dealer could show me where it says the hinge requires maintainable throughout its service life? Nope no where in the manual does it explain that. I had also purchased a second brand new heavy duty road chest and when it arrived we unboxed it to check quickly for damages and put the boxing back on, for close to a year it sat in the garage with no tools in it. When I got around to loading it up I used my crane to pick the chest up and set it down on my bottom box, and that’s when I realized there clearly shipping damages where a fork lift fork had been driven into the bottom of the box causing some significant damage. I’ve waited two years for my dealer to replace it and he told me snap on would do a trade where I pay more money. That’s if for me I’m done. It’s time I move on and purchase professional tools from one of the competitors that value my business and will at least honour the warranty they sow on quality tools. If I wanted china warranty on china tools I know where I could get them at a fraction of the cost that snap on charges.

Appalling customer service

Purchased a top chest only to find that one of the locks on the back of a drawer was upside down and so half of the box wouldn’t lock. I informed my franchisee about the issue and he contacted them to order the drawer to sort the issue out.
Fast forward 1 1/2 years and still have only half a locking tool box. As my franchisee has now left his orders have been cancelled off and so I won’t get it sorted any time soon.
Constantly using Brexit and Covid as an excuse and isn’t acceptable as another well known tool brand has no issues.

Very unhappy former customer

Snap on tools is an unreliable, antiquated company filled with inept, helpless people that are incapable of resolving simple problems . Don’t waste your time and money with this awful company or their ignorant sales representatives.
