New seller page is dreadful,
The new seller page is dreadful, over complicated and unnecessary.Add that to the excessive fees, terrible customer service and the amount of scammers using the site and it makes Ebay selling an unpleasant experience.I shall be closing my account.
Ebay stated that their fees would be…
Ebay stated that their fees would be slightly less or comparable when PayPal were affiliated to Ebay, which together WAS about 15%. I sold an item of clothing today and the fees came out at about 16.9%. The thing I hate most is the fact we get charged fees on postage, which is dire!!!! I have to drive 3 miles to the post office, pay for tissue paper and the parcel bags, so I really don't appreciate paying postal fees. Absolute thieves. The trouble is they know they can get away with it at present as there is no real feasible competition at the moment, as the other sites have a poor reputation too. Its kind of like 'better the devil you know'!!!
eBay format gone from BAD to WORSE 👎
Their site format used to be reasonable-to-poor, but now after their ‘reorganisation’ it is 100% TERRIBLE.
I’ll wager their customer liaison was non-existent when developing the format.

I bought a wheelchair for my pet who is unable to walk.
I specifically searched for items within the UK. I picked one that said, it was from the UK, as I needed it quick.
I then found out I was charged import tax despite the item “being from the uk.“
Ebay have fobbed me off on every occasion. They told me to Call HMRC - I did. HMRC confirmed ebay needed to refund me or contact them directly. Ebay refuse to do both.
Ebay has a huge issue with sellers pretending to be from the UK when they’re not, which is how this issue has been caused.
Ebay tried to fob me off to HMRC, and when I did this and HMRC confirmed ebay are the ones who needed to take action, they suddenly weren’t at all interested in HMRC.
The only solution that ebay have, is to return my item and get a full refund. Yep... they want me to pull my pet wheelchair off my paralysed pet, so he can no longer walk, just because they won’t refund me the import tax.
Thanks ebay 👍🏻
You’ve now lost me as a buyer and seller, just for the sake of you refusing to refund £10
Just feel robbed!
Just feel robbed!
I was selling an item and according to listing it was going to cost me £17.00, but after it sold I was charged £65.00. I called them up and they said we increased our selling fees to 12%. Well fair enough, if it came up at the time I placed the add, but just charging you after it sold is ridiculous. I would have looked around or used different site. On top of that, if I am paying £65.00 to get my money into my account I want it there immediately, not 3 working days later!
Fraud going on in eBay's Customer Service
There is not other way to explain what eBay's Customer Service is doing accept to say there is clearly some individuals in their India customer support office (based on my experience ) who are engaged in some kind of fraud or suspicious activity with User accounts.
As a British Landscaping company trading for over 30 years, we opened an account to sell our excess stock of Landscaping materials. We registered with all our proper details (address, Company Number and VAT Number), a week later as we prepared to put items on the eBay. We received an email to say, eBay will close your account and you cannot appeal? Spoke to Customer service who we strongly assume is based in India, and the behaviour was so strange, as if someone on the customer service team was up to something and was fearful of being caught. So they ended the chat session really abruptly.
Be very carefully with eBay, and maybe don't even consider using it.
Absolutely worst customer service
Absolutely worst customer service. I sold an item that had to be sent to Ireland on the 11thFeb. I used EBay’s postal service, which I used in good faith, I had to print of and fill in 3 copies of the customs forms as requested. I used UPS as offered by EBay, needless to say my item has not arrived I have contacted UPS, to the point they will not talk to me as they say that EBay Pack Link is there customer and not me, although I am the one that paid the money, I then contacted EBAY on the online chat service and they passed the buck, saying I needed to sort it out with EBay Packlink ( sounds like the same company to me), and they say I have gone over 30 days so they won’t help me, even after I have sent them all the tracking history, which tells them that the parcel is somewhere. The service from ALL three parties has been terrible, the reason I blame EBay is as far as I’m concerned the company I have my contract with. I would never trust EBay to arrange my postage again. This seems to me quite a regular thing with this company
ebay customer services
If you have a problem, you can no longer talk to anyone from ebay ,you have to use the website. which is difficult to navigate .
No repect or consideration.
I've been buying and selling on ebay for 20 years or more and haven't had many problems but those I did have were pretty serious. However, I doubt I'll continue selling through them now they have their new 'initiate'. Having severed their relationship with PayPal, they now manage payments. Not only does this mean their fees have increased (by too much) but there is a delay before a seller recieves their funds. From a total of less than £500, they have charged about £80 in fees and, having yet to see the proceeds, depending on the bank, it could be as long as 8 days before the funds are cleared. This is inconvenient, unjust and proof that ebay do not value or respect their clients.
Poor ebay
Going from to worse
Try and get issues sorted is a no go
Refunds for shoddy goods again a no go
Overall performance as of late 1 out of 5
Money-grabbing
Was forced to register for the 'new seller hub' to receive payments via bank account rather than Paypal.
Sold an item last night, the payment was in my Paypal account? Paid for the postage using that.
The seller hub has a list of fees it has charged me (twice), although you register for so many free listings a month!
In the payments section it is telling me I am in the minus & they will take payment from my bank account, so I did not see a penny for what I sold yesterday.
Customer service also went downhill, they just use the word 'sorry' over & over again to make you think they actually sympathise but offer no productive solutions!
Still one of my fave online shopping…
Still one of my fave online shopping options however they need to do more to prevent overseas sellers pretending to be UK sellers as they’re usually selling fake items
I have been scammed by this seller here…
I have been scammed by this seller here "hotinora" and according to their feedback, they have done the same scam before. I paid them for a graphics card and they marked it as sent, sending me tracking number. When I ran the tracking number through Royal Mail, I found that my postcode wasnt matched to the tracking code. I am in Cornwall, the item was sent to an address in Swansea.
I asked the seller for a refund because I read on his feedback about a similar scam he pulled. Seller said he has already refunded me and sent me a screenshot of a PayPal dispute in the buyers favour. I didn't open a dispute, I couldn't, I paid by credit card! I told the seller this and they moved onto their next excuse..
Seller then says they "forgot to send the item and will issue a new tracking code in 24 hours". I get a new tracking code and put it into the Royal Mail, this tracking code here SE097488408GB "The sender has let us know this item will be with us soon." The item will never be with them because the seller scammed me!
I try to contact eBay but the only thing they do is let me talk to the seller who wont respond to me. The only way I can speak to someome from eBay is on Twitter! The support from eBay has been none existent and now I find the negative feedback I left the seller has gone and they have also changed their profile name!
eBay is allowing a scammer to continue scamming people and to me, eBay are doing their very best to protect this scammer. I have now reported the scammer to Action Fraud and initiated a chargeback from my credit card company.
eBay needs to have some sort of contact or team we can contact to report scams, I can't find this anywhere!
I also had a message removed from the community because I put the sellers profile link in the message! Seems eBay go out of their way to protect their scammers but offer zero support for the buyers who get scammed. Disgusting company.
Enough is enough
After selling for over 10 years on eBay enough is enough
I have had ups and downs but their managed payments is the last straw.
With current combined fees with PayPal of 12.9% + 30p eBays fees pitched at 12.8% +30p hardly evokes any incentive but will handsomely increase ebays revenue which I believe already in its billions.
My understanding is that we would be better off but certainly don’t see any benefits especially if items are collected as fees will be higher and it appears that if you don’t move to managed payments your account could be restricted
Given just over a months notice, I feel forced into eBay’s payments terms without any choice and without an option to stay as I am using PayPal.
eBay should have give users that option and the fact that they haven’t to me says a lot about this company.
To move to managed payments as a private seller you will need to provide bank details and verify yourself by uploading you passport or driving licence.
With the security concerns and functionality issues I have had with eBay, they are the last people I would want to trust with sensitive information.

Useless company! No help whatsoever for customers. All for supporting sellers that keep this crap hole from going bust.
Seller is a Liar - No Help from eBay
On Good Friday 2nd April I ordered some fish food then realised immediately that the delivery time of 2 weeks was no good - 16th April - as I was out of food. So I cancelled within 3 minutes at 3.54pm.
Easter Monday 5th at 8.25am eBay send an email saying cannot cancel as the order has been posted. So I contact the seller who ignores my first email. I send another and he replies saying he posted it on the 9th April. So not the 5th then? Wonder why?
Clue: Easter Monday is a bank holiday and Royal Mail is not open. He ignores my cancellation request. The postage time of 2-3 days is changed to 3-5 days!
I open a dispute and eBay agree I can send it back when it arrives. It comes on the 14th April so I get an eBay return label. They charge me £3.25 for the privilege.
I do not feel I should pay anything as the seller is a liar so I get eBay to call me back. After explaining the situation the call handler agrees to forward to a supervisor to authorise the postage refund within 24-48 hours. 9 days later and nothing so get another call back.
Obviously very disinterested and clearly did not want to be at work. Claims that by using 'Ordered by Mistake' caused this issue. Explained there is no section that covers lying sellers. So now I have to wait another 72 hours for the original call handler to deal with the case.
Appalling customer service. Time eBay was regulated like China where Alibaba has just been fined $2.4 billion. I'll stick to Amazon wherever I can now.
Feeling Robbed by Ebay
i have just sold some bits on ebay to make ends meet but their greed had meant i just wasted my time and all i have done is lined their pockets.. i clicked the max £1 seller fee offer to keep costs low.. i sold 3 items for £1 each and ebay took 93p each .. i got 7p. disgusted to say the least.. i will never sell on there again.. and looking at the reduction in items for sale when i look it seems more and more sellers feel the same.
