Trackr Avis 98

Late to the party because TrackR services and apps were shut down in August 2021 but reading these reviews brings back my lived experience.

I have about ten of these that I've had in a box probably from around the time I bought them. Same stories as I've seen on here: batteries died constantly, anything outside your own home was gone for good, the subtle lie that this worked when it didn't.

Why am I writing a review? I've seen TrackR has a new incarnation as Tracker Mist and I feel it would be immoral to support this company given their unethical contribution to landfill and their poor customer service.

I bought five and they were useless. Now seen the company is out of business so was surprised to see they are being sold on ebay for £5.99 each! What a charlatan!

Was given TrackR as a present. Batteries were flat but TrackR sent me new ones. Finally got it going only to find the app is no longer supported and no alternative provided. These 3 devices are now useless

Great idea. Doesn't work. Batteries last weeks. Won't find devices more than 10 feet away.
Now the Support email no longer exists.
Don't even think about buying this - it's unsupported garbage.

Initially I bought several TrackR devices thinking I could keep one on each vehicle and other items and check them out. Soon I realized it is no GPS device, it works only if lots of people around you have one. It is like the notorious piramid money game in which you only succeed if lots of people enter the game behind you. Reality is there is nobody around you with a TrackR device so the system of plenty devices around you communicating with your device simply never happens. Perhaps the company should had given away millions so that, by the time others began purchasing, the grid of communication could had been established providing the sought for situation. Easier could had been the creation of a real GPS positioning device, because the option as said before, would had been giving away millions of TrackR devices at the manufacturers expense. Soon after I realized I had to be next to my car to be able to locate it. If I were to find my vehicle before and stand next to my vehicle, what would be the use for the TrackR device? The only useful use I found for it, is in case of parking your car in an open parking lot or in town where you would need to walk far away to your destination, as in a concert or event , because then you can set your position standing next to your car and when returning, at least you would have a image of where your vehicle is located and walk directly toward it. The screen has an image in a map of where your vehicle was last time it was scanned. Thing is I think whatsapp and Google can do that too.
I gave 2 stars because at least when I called TrackR because my device was dead, they told me they would send me batteries and they did send me several, I appreciated that.
Good intentions but not very well done. Hope a real GPS device shows up.

Received my TrackR pack of five and the batteries were dead. I emailed the company and didn’t get a response. Bad customer service and bad product. I do not recommend.

This is absolute waste of money and your time.
At first it all looks great - I bought a pack of 10 and placed them everywhere - suitcases, wallets, keys etc - then you set them up and test them - so you spend a couple of hours - and you feel happy.
Then a few weeks later you start getting errors - and the batteries go flat. I replaced the batteries several times - so I spent considerable time "managing" them, but when the time came that I really needed them - the battery was flat.

I must agree with all people below: it is rubbish, doesn't work, they promise to send batteries because when I bought them, two were empty immediately: they don't send anything and after changing the batteries that we bought ourselves, it is still not working. Worst item bought ever I think. Waste of money.
App in the Netherlands only in French; not helpful either. Very disappointing

Yeah. What all these people said, is the truth. They are absolute rubbish, a waste of money 💵.. At 40 dollars Nz from JB HI-FI, You'd be better off buying some food 🍲 , alcohol 🍻, or weed🌿 with your money instead.. Heh.
I bought two ✌️ and rue the very day I bought them... 🤦‍♂️

All devices eat batteries, when you need them they are dead, they send a battery replacement one at a time from USA to EU and the ones they send are cheapos, dont waste your money.

Absolutely pitiful and certainly not fit for the purpose stated. Items are doa after removal from packaging. Have repeatedly asked to return for refund- but the scammers fail to respond!
Don’t fall for this scam!

Took me 5 minutes to realize my mistake. App not available in my region (Atlanta, Georgia) and NO customer service contact info. Hopefully I can get my money back and never need to deal with them again.

Wish I could give zero stars, terrible, diabolical items. Batteries constantly die, app doesn’t work, doesn’t track devices. Told me my wallet was somewhere I had not been for months even though it was with me and connected. Have had loads of these, even ‘free’ replacements ones that I had to pay a fortune in custom/Royal Mail admin for. All have been utter rubbish.

battery replacement is impossible. their app has many bugs.

Schwer zu koppeln und wenn das endlich geklappt hat geht der Tracker verloren sobald die Bluetooth Reichweite verlassen wurde!
Neu koppeln geht nur mit Taste am Tracker gedrückt wird ...
Dann weiss ich auch so das Ding ist!

Möglich dass auch nur die APP nichts taugt aber egal!

Received my trackrs package of 8 and the batteries were dead within a day. Then, I was not able to remove the back cover to replace the batteries. The siren isn't loud enough to hear from afar and it barely lights up to be able to see. I will be returning this lousy product.

TrackR must be out of business. On November 30 2019 I purchased six of their devices. The order was processed by checkout.org. There were two different models in two boxes which means they probably were not made at the same time which turned out to be important. The ones in the first box failed to do anything. Pressed the button as instructed. Nothing. None of the devices in the first box would pair the batteries were completely dead. The ones in the second box did pair but the batteries needed replacement. In searching for information on the company a news article in January 2018 said, "the company has laid off a substantial proportion of its staff, ..." I tried to access their Website and the screen reads, "No forwarding set for trackr.com". Emails sent to their support group, over two weeks as of today, have gone unanswered.

I've kept a Trackr in my wallet for 3 years. Lost wallet yesterday and was happy I had hidden inside the device. Didn't work! (found my wallet at the store). Tried to "fix" location problems, etc but the app doesn't help. So I went online and realized I was scammed. I put my trust into their sales technique and now realize it is very untrustworthy.

Might work in the same room one time. battery lasts less than one week. It is hard to get to work once. They say they work off any in the same area. Not true. They would have to be within a few feet of each other. This was probably a scam to sell thousands in a short period and then disappear. There website is down and not working.
