There are better options out there.

I was a customer of Trifecta in 2017-2018, just a few years after they opened. I was genuinely impressed with the food, both in taste and quality, and their customer service was stellar.

Fast forward to today, nearly 10 years later, and my wife and I canceled after our first batch of meals. The food is pretty terrible. That's the only honest way to describe it. My wife couldn't even finish two of the meals, and I only finished them because we paid good money for them.

The meals were bland, the chicken was dry, the rice was undercooked, and one of the meals had a strange, grainy texture that neither my wife nor I could pinpoint.

I'm only giving it two stars instead of one because we received our meals on the scheduled date without errors. If this was a review strictly about the food, it would be one star all day long.

There are better options out there.

Bad taste - both the meals and customer service

1) meals have a bland taste and seems like they use the same spices for everything and it's just wrong.
2) BRAND new customer, i literally just signed up, and didn't realize their cut off time was the day after I signed up and I am out of the state the day they deliver the food (which is 1+ week ahead of time). I immediately contacted customer service to try to put a stop on the order. They said "NOPE" and "since you're away, have a friend or family take your food". Such crap customer service. I've tried numerous other meal delivery services and they always find a way to accommodate unexpected scheduling issues as an ESTABLISHED customer... so I expected at least some flexibility for a new customer.
3) try Cook Unity or ANYTHING besdies this service.

We understand the frustration of missing a cutoff deadline and having an order arrive during travel plans. However, we also believe it’s important to provide full context for readers, especially as the same complaint is now being reposted across multiple review platforms.

The central issue here was not a refusal to assist a customer or a lack of willingness to help. The request to stop the shipment came four full days after our posted cutoff deadline, after the order had already entered fulfillment and carrier processing. At that stage, we no longer had any physical ability to cancel, intercept, or reroute the shipment.

Perishable meal delivery operates on extremely tight production and logistics timelines. While some services may occasionally accommodate requests made shortly after cutoff, a request made several days afterward is simply beyond what most operations can realistically reverse.

Our representative’s suggestion to have someone retrieve the package was not dismissive; it was the only remaining practical option available once the shipment could no longer be stopped.

We certainly respect every customer’s right to share their experience publicly. At the same time, repeatedly posting the same complaint across multiple platforms does not change the underlying facts of the situation or the logistical limitations involved.

As for the meals themselves, taste is subjective. Many customers enjoy our meals and nutritional approach, though we understand they were not a fit for this customer’s preferences.

We’re sorry the experience did not meet expectations, but we also want prospective customers to understand this situation stemmed from a missed cutoff timeline rather than an unwillingness from our team to help.

I ordered steak and both times they sent me rice each time. When I asked for a refund, they refused.

After reviewing your account and order history, we were unable to find any instance where steak was selected, charged for, or included in your orders. Because of this, there was no charge for steak to refund. All itemized receipts are available in your account for review at any time, and we’re also happy to provide copies directly if needed.

It appears there may have been a misunderstanding regarding the items selected in your weekly order. Our support team reviewed the request thoroughly and responded based on the actual order details, which is why a refund was not issued. In other words, we cannot refund something you were never charged for.

We always aim to be fair and transparent, and we stand by both our billing accuracy and the way our team handled this situation. That said, if you’d like us to walk through your orders with you step-by-step, we’re more than happy to help clarify.

Awful!

This company isn’t good…their food is extremely bland, I wouldn’t recommend anything I’d tried from them. Their customer service is equally as awful..one of those companies that’ll charge you early, deliver early, and when you try to contact them about it “welp there’s nothing we can do.” I’d intentionally skipped 2 weeks after I’d received my first order from them, I wanted a full reflection on whether or not I wanted to continue with them. They sent me my third weeks orders, without me even picking my meals, immediately after I’d just gotten my first week. I tried explaining to them that I’d paused two weeks between shipments so I could take my time in a decision. “Welp, sorry, nothing we can do.”..what do you mean? My order wasn’t due for another two weeks? “Welp sorry, nothing we can do”…it arrived super early…and it was a total waste of money because I wound up not even enjoying their meals. I wouldn’t have been so upset about it if they tried to work with me on it, but there was zero effort to correct an early charge and early delivery. It was like I was scammed. That’s honestly what it felt like. So- if you’d also like to throw money down the drain and taste the blandest of foods in all of the land, go ahead!

We’re sorry to hear you were unhappy with both the meals and your experience, and we want to clarify a few important points for anyone reading.

Regarding the shipment in question: our system records timestamps for all account actions, including skipping weeks. There is no record of the January 16 delivery being skipped before the cutoff deadline (Friday, January 9). What our records do show is that on Saturday, January 10 (after the cutoff had passed) you logged into your account and skipped the January 23 delivery, which was the first remaining date available to skip online. That same day is when you contacted our team to cancel and dispute the January 16 order.

Additionally, a reminder email was sent on January 8 notifying you of the upcoming deadline to make changes or skip the January 16 shipment. Once the cutoff passes, orders are already in production and unfortunately cannot be canceled, refunded, or rerouted—this applies consistently to all customers.

We understand how frustrating it can feel to receive a delivery you no longer want, but the charge and shipment followed the subscription terms and timeline exactly as outlined and communicated. Our team did review the situation and explained these constraints at the time.

Taste is always subjective, and we recognize that our meals won’t be a fit for everyone. We’re disappointed that the experience left you feeling upset, but we want to be transparent that this was not an early or unauthorized shipment, nor a case of skipped weeks being ignored.

We appreciate the feedback and wish you the best in finding a service that better fits your preferences.

Healthy food, lacks variety and outdated website and customer service

I appreciate the healthy/organic and clean ingredients. That said the website and service if you order regular subscriptions is poor and diminishing over the past few months. Over 1/3 of items and even sometimes 1/2 are out of stock even when you log in at the beginning of the week. Trifecta will switch out meals from your subscription but confirmed they have not notification to tell you this and you have to login every week to fix this or you are paying $16 or more for a meal you do not want. Also they could benefit from more higher protein /lower fat meals. They only have 4 options for "performance meals" which seems counterproductive when marketing to athletes. I liked the service but the extreme lack of variety and availability is leading to consumer fatigue. Their customer service is responsive, but due to the website inefficiencies (operating 10-15 years behind most consumer based websites) I would have a hard time recommending this to others. After 6 1/2 months I am likely to move on.

When meals sell out due to high demand or supply constraints, substitutions may occur to ensure boxes ship on time. While we currently don’t send automatic substitution notifications, we do encourage customers to review and adjust their menus each week before the cutoff so they stay in full control of their selections. That said, we hear your feedback clearly and agree this is an area where we need to continue improving the experience.

Regarding variety and performance meals: our menus are built around whole-food nutrition and clean macros, but we understand that athletes and long-term customers want more high-protein, lower-fat options and broader rotation. Menu expansion and improved availability are active priorities, and simplifications we’ve made recently are intended to support more consistent fulfillment moving forward.

We also appreciate the candid comments about our website. While we’ve made updates over time, we recognize that expectations have evolved and there’s more work to do to make the platform more intuitive and proactive.

We’re grateful for the 6+ months you spent with us and for your honest perspective. Feedback like this directly informs where we focus next, and we’re sorry to hear we ultimately fell short of earning a strong recommendation. If there’s ever an opportunity to support you again, we’d welcome it.

Regarding your cancellation request, all subscription changes or cancellations must be submitted at least 7 days prior to the scheduled ship date. This requirement is clearly outlined on our website and in our Terms of Service, which are agreed to at the time of sign-up. While your request was made 6 days in advance, the order was already in production and could not be cancelled or refunded.

Your subscription has since been successfully cancelled, and no future orders will be processed.

We acknowledge your feedback regarding meal variety, quality, and value, and it has been documented and shared internally. While we regret that Trifecta was not the right fit for you, we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

Fantastic customer support!

The first shipment of meals were delicious. I just received my second shipment on Saturday, 09/06/2025, and it appears it was delayed by the carrier and when I opened the box, the meals were warm and the ice packs had melted. I went to their webpage and started a chat, forgetting it was Saturday, and I was in the process of sending an email when Kian responded. Kian took care of every thing for me. Fantastic customer support! Thank you Kian!

Post-Op life saver!

Trifecta was a life saver when I had knee surgery. It was easy to skip weeks when I didn't need it and the food was quite tasty - especially the trifecta burrito, yum!

I also really appreciated that canceling was easy, with Dave's help, once I was back to 100%.

I ordered way too much food!

I accidentally ordered way too much on Trifecta due to my own mistakes. I called Trifecta and was dreading getting a run-a-round. BUT...Dave was incredibly helpful as he straightened out everything in just minutes and educated me on how to order exactly what I need and how often. Thanks to Dave and Trifecta for great customer service!

Consistency

My first week with trifecta

My first week with trifecta. Few things to note. Food is good. Not great, but it's prepared in advance, so wasn't expecting great. It's portioned well, seasoning is on light side, so can be tailored to the person. And it heats up so much better in the air fryer. If you are microwaving, you're doing yourself and Trifecta a disservice. Use foil in the air fryer and it's super simple to make, and no mess.
Customer service has been friendly, helpful and responsive.
Dealt with Kenzie R today and she was lovely. My only thing I'm not loving. Is the fee for the trifecta app to keep track of the food I'm eating. I understand it has plenty of other uses besides the food, but I only wanted to track the food.
Although the cost for the year subscription wasn't terrible. Pretty reasonable.

Not safe to consume food, arrived hot and covered in slimy substance

I received my first delivery from Trifecta today - which was supposed to be delivered yesterday. A digit on the address was inadvertently entered wrong but that house number does not even exist. When the adress could not be found, instead of reaching out to me to iron it out or leaving the package at the warehouse, the driver left the package at someone else's door, knowing good and well that it is not the correct address. When I finally got the package today, all cold packs were melted and leaked onto the food, package was not even cold! This food has been on the road for days, left out in Texas summer heat for hours, went back to their warehouse, and again been on the road for hours to get delivered to me. The food is not safe to consume anymore! To top it off, they refused to give me refund. They need to take the 'food safety' course AGAIN! After I see how they -cannot- handle their deliveries and cold supply chain, I would not eat anything prepared by this company. They have zero regards for your health and no control over their own business.

EDIT: The order was not delivered to the address with a digit error by Trifecta's team. The order was dropped at a completely different address that is unknown to me and left out there in Texas heat. That action has nothing to do with original address provided being wrong. At the time, your team did not know the address was wrong - and they still could not deliver! Had this package been delivered to the original address provided, I'd take responsibility for that and not ask for a refund. However, in this case, Trifecta did not deliver the package to any of the addresses that I provided on time as they should have.
Instead of assuming responsibility, Trifecta is charging me in full for completely inedible food and asking me to purchase more food from them as a 'courtesy'. After seeing how these foods are being delivered, I don't even know how many times they are melted/frozen during their so called 'cold chain'. After so many days on the road, at least 2 of those without any refrigeration other than the cold packs in the box, which are completely insufficient for Texas, that food must be pure breeding ground for bacteria. And your company still delivered this box to me yhat is literally a health hazard, and asking me to pay in full.
One last time, if it is still not clear, I didn't provide the address that you left that box at. Your team left it at the wrong address and now you still want your customer to pay for your team's mistake.

When a house number doesn’t exist, as was the case here, it prevents the carrier from completing a timely delivery and disrupts the cold chain we have in place. While we understand how frustrating that can be, the delay—and the resulting food temperature issues—were a direct result of the address entry error.

Despite this, we extended a 50% courtesy credit to you as a gesture of goodwill. We routinely absorb part of the cost in situations like these, even when the issue was not caused by our team, because we genuinely want our customers to have a good experience.

We take food safety very seriously and adhere to strict protocols, but no perishable product can be expected to hold temperature when delayed and rerouted due to a bad address. We hope this provides clarity, and we regret that our efforts to resolve the situation fairly were overlooked in your review.

The delivery delay and misrouting stemmed from an address entry error at checkout—specifically, a house number that does not exist. When carriers receive an unrecognized or invalid address, they may attempt delivery at the closest match within range or reroute the package. This decision is made by the third-party carrier, not Trifecta directly. Unfortunately, we cannot intercept or redirect packages once they are in transit.

We recognize the food was compromised during the extended delay, and that’s precisely why we offered a 50% courtesy credit—despite the fact that the root cause of the delay was a customer-side error. Our cold chain is engineered to withstand standard shipping timelines, but once the package is undeliverable or rerouted due to incorrect details, that chain breaks down—especially in extreme climates like Texas.
