AKC Pet Insurance Avis 

This pet insurance is a scam!!!!!! Don’t get it. I was paying extra for Illness then when I filed a claim I found out my dog wasn’t covered for Illness due to his age but it never said that in the policy. I called to cancel my policy and they never canceled it and was still charging me and won’t refund me my money.

The staff I spoke with were very knowledgeable. The answered all my questions and valued my concerns. This is the first time I had to ever purchase pet insurance and they walked me through the steps and all coverages. They were able to assist with adjusting my insurance policy without having any issues.

Understanding and kindness.

My first experience. My dog was diagnosed with Alopecia. We had the hereditary insurance. They denied my claim saying it was a pre existing condition. Did not cover anything ever. Talked to the customer service agent. I said so you guys do anything you can to get out of a claim?? He said, Yes sir!

I'm new to the pet insurance world but knew that it would be important for my little Frenchie to be covered. Sydney has been helpful on more than one occasion at answering my questions, helping me navigate the site, and generally being an all around kind human. This type of service helps build trust and will definitely keep us with AKC Pet Insurance.

This the 3rd dog that I have had covered by this insurance. My recent experience with Jessica J. and Ashley D. is just one more example of the excellent service that they provide. I had many questions to ask about upgrading my policy to get the best coverage for my 2 year old female Doberman and they went above and beyond to assist me.

Ashley W. was great. She addressed my concerns and helped me. She also followed up with me via emails which I greatly appreciated.

We are not happy. We received an email to Redeem for a complimentary office visit on a wellness exam. The claim was denied, and we went to one of the best Vets in our area. To me this is just bad business and very misleading. I would not trust these guys!

I just got off the phone with Ashley. She was so helpful in making me more comfortable with a customized policy within my budget for my 7yr old Basset Hound. For me, I purchased the Exam Plus and Congential/Heriditary add ons. I think it's important you understand what you are buying and don't just sign up on line without having a conversation. Pretty sure that would resolve negative reviews I see. I have a better understanding of coverage now and feel more secure in what I have purchased. Ashley was so helpful, honest and provided some feedback of what may be best for my hound. I am so glad I spoke to a live person which unlike most companies these days, you get right away!! AKC Pet Insurance covered over $40,000 in expenses for my Labrador Ben who had bilateral TPLOs (6 months apart) and had physical therapy for 2 years. They covered all of his treatments and therapies without question. I expected his premiums to increase dramatically but over the 6 years the premium went from $85 per month to just $103. Given how much they reimbursed that was so much less than I expected.

Canceled my policy as of today. I originally got AKC pet insurance due to their name so I thought they would live up to their reputation ..as all other comments say good luck getting reimbursements with any claims. I submitted a claim for roughly $350. It was denied and I was told I will need to update my policy to a hereditary policy. It’s a bunch of bull crap and just another way of making another dollar off of policy holders. This wasn’t told to me when I purchased the policy, nor did I even have the option to do so. go figure!

I have a policy with AKC pet insurance for 6 years. I submitted my first claim ever, a few months ago. Reimbursement around 450 dollars. My premium jumped from 79 a month to 101 a month. I expected a slight increase, but not 22%. If it had been a massive claim, yeah, but it wasn't.

Purchased a Platinum package from AKC which included 30 days of pet insurance. Go home, registered my pup and tried to activate my insurance to find out they no longer insure Canadians. Now stuck with a $2000 vet bill. Had i/we known the breeder would have put me under her insurance for that first 30 days. All I got was "Sorry", but yet they take the money and tell you insurance is included in that price".

Great service!! Submitted claim and it was paid resolved within 2 days.
Also, found phone reps very courteous and helpful.

Atrocious service and reimbursement! The worst experience ever. Do not use AKC insurance. Four years of premium’s and only one claim approved with a meager $21.80 reimbursement. Waste of time and money.

After reviewing all the comments in here. I have one question. The claim denial happened on these due to injuries being caused by preexisting conditions. However on your page you claim to be “the only insurance plan that covers preexisting conditions?” Sounds suspicious!

This insurance is the biggest scam I’ve ever experienced. I’ve paid ever month for almost a year & submitted 4 claims from my Vet only to have every single one of them being declined, immediately! All claims were “supposed” to be covered & not even a single one was reimbursed. Total & complete waste of almost $1,000.00 dollars, down the drain. Do not make the same mistake I did. Complete bait & switch!

I bought an AKC insurance with the optional Breeder Coverage Endorsement. I was hoping that it will help in case I need it. Well, they just collect the money and don't even look at the claim, denying it right away. I had to call them, and after a long conversation with an agent, she send me an appeal form that I had to submit with a vet's records and I did. In a few days, I received a new explanation of benefits with a denial code D13 - Fees to diagnose or treat any illness or injury related to breeding, pregnancy, whelping, and nursing, unless you purchase the optional Breeder Coverage Endorsement. Are you kidding?? I was paying extra money every month for that coverage... I called them again and they said that they will send me a new letter with a new denial code and hunged up on me. Horrible insurance company!
