Welcoming
Welcoming, friendly staff who are very knowledgeable about your products. They left us to look around and when appropriate approached asking if we would like help.
They were very informative about the products we were thinking about giving us all options available.
Once we made a choice the finances were fully explained and the best deal made available.
The procedure for paying was explained. Delivery procedure explained. A copy of the receipt given was double checked with myself and a delivery timeline given.
I was very impressed with the service given, probably why I returned.
BEWARE - Consumers are SOL if something is wrong with your item
You always think, when ordering online, that you are protected by consumer rights. Reader, I am here to warn you that this is not the case. Archers do not accept returns. Not even a credit card dispute was successful.
December 2025, my partner and I just moved in to a new house together and needed a new bed.
Dec 20, 2025: Order placed for a King Size bed frame (£518). The Birlea Halfden Grey Fabric Ottoman Bed Frame 5ft King Size.
Jan 7, 2026: Delivery & Assembly. We immediately report that the internal dimensions of the frame are unexpectedly larger than a standard King mattress (150cm x 200cm), leaving unsightly gaps. It looks awful.
Jan 8–14, 2026: The "Evidence" Loop. A week of back-and-forth where Archers demands specific "full-length" photos. We provide multiple photos and a Google Drive link showing the 7cm width gap and 6cm length gap.
Jan 13, 2026: The Excuse. Archers claims a 2cm–5cm gap is "normal" for ottomans to allow for bedding and lifting. They begin blaming our mattress for being a few centimeters short, rather than acknowledging the frame is oversized. The mattress is a perfect king size, as evidenced by our own pictures, plus I own another mattress by this company in double size and it is perfect for my other bed frame.
Jan 16–20, 2026: Lack of Communication. We are forced to chase them repeatedly for updates. All we want is to return the bed (we have kept the original box and packaging). We provide an ultimatum: resolve by Jan 23 or we will initiate a Section 75 chargeback.
Jan 21, 2026: The Final Refusal. Archers formally refuses the return. Their logic: the item is assembled and they deem it "within tolerance," despite our evidence that it doesn't fit a standard King mattress properly. This 'tolerance' clause is not listed anywhere on their website.
How could we have known the bed was not the right size without assembling it?
It has taken until now (May 2026) to get a resolution on this, because Archers refused to accept the return and denied the credit card chargeback, saying that our mattress is not king size (lol). My final option with Barclays and the Section 75 is to proceed with an independent furniture assessment report, which can cost hundreds of pounds. I won't be doing so, and since that was my final avenue of recourse, I am writing this negative review.
Note that this entire time (almost 6 months) we have been sleeping in the spare bedroom to keep the bed new and unused and ready to return. From reading prior reviews, I believe Archers knew this return would come to this, and knew that most consumers would not go as far as to get an independent assessment and report of their ordered furniture.
I implore you to read the other negative reviews of this company. All we wanted was to return this bed as it did not fit a king size mattress and was misrepresented online.
I always thought consumer rights were impervious, especially when ordering online with a credit card, but I have been shown otherwise with this experience. This has been an important and expensive lesson for me - learn from my mistakes and do not order from this company.

Cancelled On Me At The Last Minute
Ordered a Julian Bowen bed during the early part of the week. I was told the bed would be delivered on 1 May. I took the day off work. The day before, I had my old bed frame disassembled and removed, expecting my new bed today. I got a call on 1 May from Archers telling me that they are unable to deliver my bed now and that it would have to be another day. But, they couldn’t say when; in other words, it was open-ended. Problem being for me, Archers had my money and were of the view; We’ve got your money now, so there’s no rush.
I’m absolutely disgusted with their service-or should I say, lack of it. Never again.

Excellent Products and Knowledgeable, Personable Staff
Attended at Archer’s Sleepcentre in Clydebank to buy a replacement double mattress. What we found was a modern, meticulously clean showroom, with a wide range of beds and mattresses. We were assisted by Douglas, an engaging, outgoing member of staff, who clearly knew the range very well, and had excellent product knowledge. Having asked a few questions as to our requirements, Douglas immediately directed us to two excellent mattresses, either of which would have been ideal for us. Having made our choice, we chatted over some accessories for our choice, and left the store very satisfied with an uncomplicated shopping experience.
Delivery of our mattress was very efficiently arranged, and was carried out within an acceptable timeframe by two skilled and personable staff.
All in all, Archers was the correct choice for our purchase. First class premises, friendly, professional staff and great product range.
