OMG. Just now realizing why I haven't received 2 different documents that I applied for in late June '26. And I wondered why the fees were so high and odd $ amounts. Probably no remedy at this point.
Absolute con job ! Subscription trap ! I went on Ancestry.com for the free trial. End of trial period and cancelled Ancestry. All done, so I thought. Unbeknown to me, probably by a sly one-click su... Voir plus

These people will steal your money I canceled 3 days after a free trial still getting billed nearly a year later had to contact my credit card to complain they were already very aware of Archives.com can't wait to see their reply!
STILL scamming people
STILL scamming people! Made a payment of £8.95 for a months membership to view and receive a deceased relatives death certificate, still wouldn't let me view it, emailed them and they want me to call a number in UTAH, from the UK, I think not, contacted bank to report them and stop any more payments, found that they had charged me another two lots of £8.95, card now cancelled, may or may not be able to get my money back through charge back for goods not received. SCAMMING BUGGERS!!
Very bad as others say avoid.

Only way is to stop your card
I was able to get some help
I started a membership with this company on sept 10th, I cancelled it the same day. Through archives.com, I also purchased a subscription to newspapers.com. I thought that when I cancelled Archives, I cancelled Newspapers as well. On sept 18th, I recieved an email saying I was charged for my newspapers subscription. The same day, I made a call to archives and the lady told me my archives account was actually not cancelled so she did it for me and cancelled my newspapers.com subscription too being that it was purchased through Archives.com and also refunded me the money I was charged. It took a few days to see the refund in my account but it went through and both of my subscriptions were cancelled. I think I also recieved a refund because I cancelled while the charge was pending. I probably would have not been eligible for a refund had the payment been processed. It’s unfortunate that many others had a horrible experience with this site but I was able to get through to them and have my account cancelled, both of them at that. The number I called for Archives was 888-896-4442. I called at 9 am on a Friday to cancel my subscription & again at the same time on Monday to make sure everything was cancelled. I also got two emails verifying the cancellation of my Archives and Newspapers subscription. I will say this, Call the company to cancel. Don’t cancel online. That’s what I did before my free trial was over and I was still charged. Apparently it is way more effective to cancel over the phone than on the website. Hope this was helpful.

The wife’s CC has been hacked to pay a membership she didn’t take out. We are now investigating how long it has been going on for, as the company have no viable contact information and the credit card company seem to be aware of the problem are are being very evasive. Clearly this highlights checking your statement every month for strange activities. Or, be doubly careful with online shopping sites and their indemnity.
I cannot cancel this subscription
I cannot cancel this subscription. The telephone number provided when you go to cancel subscription cuts you off 0800 345 7920. I have tried calling my bank to cancel, contacting Archives.com online and I can't get into the account to no avail - I'm now going to OFCOM.
They fabricate search records
They fabricate records to get you to sign up with your credit card. Try it, it would be funny if it didn't trap people into handing over credit card details.
I entered the name..
'Spanbuxcacci Grafyusdry Fsdesttru'
It came up with
1 death record
123 birth records
128 census records..
View 374 records now..
Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs. I have found it impossible to cancel my subscription. i have contacted them via email, but they dont answer. DO NOT SIGN UP.
Was about to sign up
Was about to sign up, but thankfully checked the reviews from others and decided it was a scam website.
I would give the no stars if I could
I would give the no stars if I could. They charged me $50 and I have no idea why. I don't have an account with them. I have sent numerous email since the beginning of June trying to get my money back. I get an auto reply from their "Internet Support Team" each time I send an email. I guess I'm going to have to have my credit card cancelled so they no longer have my info.

I signed up for a free trial and emailed someone to cancel and they charged me anyway. Also, there was a newspaper.com trial tagged onto the free trial for archives.com that I was not aware of and was charged over $70 total for services I never used. Archives.com doesn't even offer a way for their paying customers to cancel their subscription...the only way to cancel is via email. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE
This a scam!
This a scam!! I signed up and cancelled within 15 mins and they charged me anyway.
Archives.com is a scam
Archives.com is a scam. Their information is basically what you can find on Google. I have had much better results on White Pages than Archives.com. By the way I did a search on myself and I was not on their website and I am 46 years old and been in California all my life. Do not give them your credit card number.

ZERO STARS!!!!
I e-mailed and called to cancel my account and I was still charged!!! FRAUD ALERT!!!!! There e-mails say they have no account under that e-mail address and say do you have another e-mail you used? NO!!!!! I have one!!!! When you call it’s all computers no real people!!!!
It isn't free at all
It isn't free at all. This is misleading, they say it is free, as soon as you search they take you to a page to enter credit card information for a 7 day free trial, after which they start charging you. Organisations like this should be made to be honest in their marketing
Zero acknowledgement from customer service
I thought I'd canceled the free Newspapers.com trial that I'd signed up for via my Archives free trial; it turns out that I hadn't and was alarmed when a charge for $49.95 popped up on my phone. "Fair enough", I thought, "the charge was made just now, so I'll immediately contact customer service and get it straightened out within a day or two". First I messaged Newspapers customer support, who directed me to Archives customer support. It's been nearly a week (and three requests for help on my end) and Archives has yet to dignify any of these messages with a response, let alone a refund. This is the first time in my life that I've ever publicly complained about any business, but to be completely and repeatedly ignored over an issue like this is ridiculous and unethical. YMMV but for anyone like me who considers $50 a considerable chunk of change, avoid Archives.com because once they take your money, that's apparently the last you'll see of it. There's no option to delete your credit card info from their site either, so this is something else to keep in mind before entrusting them with it.

Disappointed..easy to sign up to but been trying for past 2 days to cancel my membership..not been possible as of yet and no help
thieves
thieves, steal money for a useless free trial which they don't even have info for I used it ONCE and it cost me £8.95 (GBP).
nightmare to cancel have to send a request instead of just clicking cancel. THERE IS ALSO NO OPTION TO REMOVE YOUR CARD DETAILS.
THIEVES, SCAMMERS AND FRAUDULENT TRANSACTIONS. I PROMISE I WILL ENSURE THIS SITE IS SHUT DOWN.
