I had an unfortunate bicycle accident…

I had an unfortunate bicycle accident and this hospital was nothing short of amazing. The nurses, the plastic surgeons, the aftercare nurses and the trauma department and stitch removal were all immaculate. Service was fast, and everyone was friendly and welcoming, excellent at their job and comedic when required. I cannot thank everyone enough and if I could remember everyone's names I would list them and wish to personally thank them. This is by far the best NHS service I have ever come across. Thank you so much. If there is a way to personally thank everyone involved, I would love to do that.

INCOMPETENT STAFF POSE RISK TO PATIENTS

I attended urgent care at St Thomas' Hospital after a Thai boxing injury left me with a deep wound near my eye. The injury required 7 internal and 7 external stitches on the lacrimal gland. Unfortunately, I was treated by SARAH JONES , a senior emergency nurse practitioner, whose actions have left me disfigured and emotionally devastated.

She failed to follow proper medical protocol by not consulting a surgeon or ophthalmologist—both of whom are the only professionals adequately trained to treat such delicate areas. Instead, she stitched the wound herself, causing severe complications.

When the stitches were removed at Guy's hospital, there was an obvious lump of excess skin on my eyelid—so large it was visible from a distance. I experienced ongoing pain, and 20 days later, two non-absorbable stitches forced their way out, creating a keloid scar due to how long they had been left in. Despite the seriousness of the outcome, the hospital gave me a review appointment eight months later. Absolutely outrageous.

Thankfully, I had the financial means to afford private surgery. Without it, I don’t know how I would have coped. I genuinely believe that the actions of this nurse put me at risk of permanent damage—including potential blindness.

Sadly, this is not the first negative experience I’ve had at this hospital. But this incident has been life-altering. The care I received was not only negligent—it was dangerous. Patients deserve better, and this level of risk and indifference is unacceptable.

Disgraceful

Disgraceful! Got an appointment booked in but one of the receptionists got mine cancelled without reasons. Had to complain about it. Finally got seen and had to get an appointment for the result. However, they messed up my appointment again! This is all from the pre assessment department whoever arrange the appointment, utterly useless and unacceptable for messing up patient's appointments just to hit their KPI. I am going to take legal actions against them and report them to the press globally!

I’ve usually found Guys Hospital staff…

I’ve usually found Guys Hospital staff excellent but I recently was disappointed by a porter wheeling me in the hospital in a wheelchair very closely past the area where you purchase snacks etc. I asked if he could stop quickly so I could get a coffee and sandwich. He said he was too busy to stop for me. I was ok about that. I know there are other patients that take priority over my hunger. When he took me to my destination within the hospital, I was quite perturbed that he spent a considerable amount of time for a general chat about nothing hospital related with a colleague, right in front of me! The time that took, he could have fulfilled my request in much less time he took to chat to his friend about nothing important. I then realised he just didn’t want to take me. This was the first time I had ever been refused such a request. This small experience burst my positive bubble. It can take just a moment to be considerate to a patient and avoid negative reviews such as this that spoils it for the other exemplary staff at Guys. I just want this porter to understand that I didn’t request him stop for fun. I hadn’t eaten all day. I can only get around via wheelchair. His consideration for just a few minutes would have been so appreciated. I then had to wait 2 more hours for transport home.
Update: the next day at my next appointment, I made the same request to a different porter. Yes he was very busy but he was courteous enough to take me. He left me making my purchase whilst he fetched another patient, then he returned to collect me. I wish I had taken his name because he is a very special employee, friendly, cheerful, courteous.

Truly appalling

Truly appalling ( non existent ) treatment at the cancer centre, being told that the reason no treatment would be received was because " not a high enough priority to receive treatment. " Must be one of the worst cancer treatment centres in the world

I was referred to St Thomas in November…

I was referred to St Thomas in November 2024 for back pain. I have arthritis of the spine and had wanted to explore Spinal cord Stimulation which my consultant had mentioned whilst I had injections in my back.
I saw the doctor in January 2025 and he thought it wasn't Arthritis. I was then send to a MRI scan which I had in March 2025. They told me that it would take two months for the results of the scan. Two Months !!!!!!!! I know it is a busy hospital yet months is over the top. I have pain and I want help.

incompetent and racist staff

Our experience during a devastating time battling breast cancer was made diabolically worse in this hospital by the extremely racist and incompetent staff. How this hospital can still operate is beyond me. I haven’t even spoken about the dire need of refurbishment this hospital is in need of because that is lesser important in this matter.

Dr. Ash Kotari is a very incompetent surgeon who deliberately delayed the surgery for months, simply because he lacks the experience to perform in his role. He was overselling a surgery to completely remove the breasts and reconstruct them via flap. He insisted that there was no other option available and kept us in limbo for months. This led to a completely unnecessary delay which made the tumor grow larger. He willingly and intentionally played with a life. Eventually we went back to our home country in Europe where there are still reputable surgeons and the cancer is not only gone by process of a very simple lumpectomy as we requested but she is also left with two large C-Cup sized, natural breasts. According to Dr. Kothari, not even an A-Cup would be feasible after removing the cancer as in his words, ‘’a tea-bag would be bigger’’ and therefore a very intensive and clinically more dangerous surgery needed to be performed with years of recovery. I strongly advise any cancer patients from seeking help at this deteriorative hospital where you will be left scarred, botched, misinformed and misdiagnosed due to the extreme incompetence of their surgeons and their Oncologists if you decide to go with their plan.

In one of the many useless meetings, Dr. Hisham Hamed and Dr. Mark Ho-Asjoe were present. They both portrayed a very hostile and obvious racist and very disrespectful demeanour. It was clear from the first seconds that they had a ferocious dislike for Black people and were sabotaging the meeting wherever they could. This is very dangerous and leaving your life in their hands, especially as a Black person, I cannot guarantee that they will try to end your life prematurely out of hate. Dr. Hisham Hamed in particular portrayed a very obvious disdain for Black people and was constantly verbally attacking us for no reason other than the fact that he was annoyed that we were well read and well informed about everything regarding breast cancer cells and breast cancer surgical removal. Our knowledge made him visibly livid and I consider him an absolute danger to society, he is a narcissistic psychopath.

My advise to anyone regardless of race is to avoid this hospital at all costs but even more so if you are of African or Caribbean descent because your life will be treated as disposable by the above mentioned people who swore to cure and cater to those in need but feel ever so comfortable stepping aside from this if it means they can feed their unadulterated, passionate hate for Black people.

Consistently rude- Pain management team St Thomas London

Consistently rude; none-commital and aloof.

You can tell by their demeanor and overall approach that they know they're above criticism. Despicable pain management team!

You would think that going to the very centre of London and seeing so-called experts would give you a chance of care, but no! It's nowhere close!

There are 2 particular Italian doctors(though its across the board), that, between them, haven't the got first clue. They literally look at you like you're a liar! They know you can detect what they're actually thinking, and give no care in demeaner, as they know they are above scrutiny.

I had no physical test; barely asked any indicative questions, that would flag a diagnosis, given I was their for a specific reason; hence why I knew at the time he wasn't even asking the correct questions. This is extremely astounding to me, given that this is a major Hospital at the centre of London.

Do not expect to go to London St Thomas' and expect any more care than you would in any other region of England! its actually so deflating and I think these Drs are past the point of caring.

No wonder the zeitgeist of today, is a shared despair towards Drs in general. History wont judge them well!

Absolute brilliance.

Very difficult trying to explain, share my thoughts into guys hospital and Dorcas ward, from the very start of my lung cancer journey, and being treated by the team from guys has been quite remarkable, words really can’t express how the care I received, absolutely outstanding, impeccable,I just cannot praise guys and Dorcas ward enough.i would like like to refrain from quoting any individual names, because each and every person was just so caring, professional, understanding.however I would like to say a special thanks to ms tan and the team, really at the top of the game, quite superb in every way.i just cannot fault guys hospital and the team, and obviously can’t thank them enough,I really could sit here for days writing and praising,it would finish as long as the Magna Carta.who would ever think that being in hospital would be a pleasure, well I certainly do,because the whole team in Dorcas ward made it just that, again I just cannot praise enough, and are so very grateful for the care I received,a team of dedicated professionals,so very understanding and caring, the dining was good I came out putting on weight..thank you so much to you all at guys and Dorcas ward.i,m forever in your debt.paul Harvey

Pathetic

Waiting over four months for an examination! Given a date! Finally in the last week I get a e Mail changing my appointment time to first thing in the morning! I have a ninety minute travel time! I tried numerous times to explain the situation! Which is nigh on impossible!
I am a merchant seaman and we have a unit which specifically deals with this occupation!
To exasperate this issue! Because I cannot get there for this allotted time! They cancel it and offer an alternative appointment in July!
This is possibly the worst hospital I have ever had the misfortune to have to deal with!

Sleep clinic do not give results so the uncomfortable stay is pointless

Had a stay at the sleep clinic back in October and still am awaiting my results. My physical and mental health are seriously declining through absolute exhaustion. When I spoke to someone at the sleep clinic they said "the managers are TRYING to make the Dr START her paper work". It's so sad and quite frankly scary the state the NHS leave their patients in. Unacceptable

Keep safe and away form NHS

When 31st Oct 2024, due to long term health issues related to mould at Infectious Diseases and general internal Medication, however after explaining all my symptoms Dr M Woodman, knowing that All my symptoms are in line with NHS website for mould infection/ fungi related issues still tuned around and said it's not the cass, so they will not carry out specialises blood and stool test, and when I told him I will go private he said its wast of wealth and even if I found out there is nothing that will be done.

After going to private test, I was diagnosed with high level of fangs in my blood that was causing all my health problems.

I can only think of tow reasons whey this Docter did not want to carry out any investigation or test, to save the NHS money, not taking my health in to consideration or did not like my apparent relegen that I desplayed.

Keep away from this hospitals if you truly value your health, go abroad to too health professionals, don't wast your time and with in uk as they are bound by the uk government laws.

...........

First time I went to Respiratory Physiotherapy (St. Thomas) they gave me a walking stick which gp should have given myself years ago. Still it was a grateful gesture. I was also diagnosed with dysfunctional breathing by their other colleague's at Guys who have also saved my life twice after 2 near death experiences with pneumonia/chest infection/asthma.

Since then and for the past 3 appoinments, all they told me to do was some form of yoga breathing exercise which I'm unable to do because their colleagues at NHS mental help therapy are complete total loss.

This has been going on for the past year or so:

First appointment - Breathing exercise.
Second appointment - Breathing exercise.
Third appointment - Breathing exercise.

Every time they enjoy listening to my bad life experiences contributing to my anxiety and how my life worsens.

For my last appointment I had someone who was so young and clearly inexperienced to deal with adults with complex problems.

Made me complete useless questionnaire forms, and everything I marked severe for my breathing issues as a result of my uncured anxiety for several years. Wasting papers as well.

He read the questionnaires for a laugh, scribbled something on them and gave them back to myself - as if this was some kind of sick joke after I told him what happened to myself recently or else pushed by someone else - goodness knows who.

Then he shoved myself again to nhs mental health section who are practically useless and do nothing apart from more shoving around to wannabe counselling which is not suitable for myself. I left the hospital really distressed......

I asked for another appointment but to take more ps they offered another appointment for June 2025 as they are mostly aware that my asthma/chest infection gets severe to the point of death during March/April! Even told them to give my appointment to someone who is worse than myself.

Waste my time and let myself down not once but 3 times every time telling me the same thing that I have to do the yoga breathing exercise.

Clearly taking the ps like their colleagues at NHS mental health who drove myself to anxiety and point of self-destruction. They mess with your head and shove people around to the point of harming their mental health further and cause them further distress for someone like myself.

They do not waste my time only but waste valuable nhs time as well.

Don't be fooled like myself. All the posters and signposting in UK like the signposting at respirotary clinic is fake.

They will listen to your story and then do NOTHING.

They cure all sorts of woke stuff. But in my case, the only thing that matters is that I'm on my limbs/walking stick (not just this nhs department but even England in general) and that's it.

If you want your mental health to get…

If you want your mental health to get worse this is the best hospital for it. I want an exploratory Op seen as iv been left with a problem from an old operation since 2017. Everything is a test rather then listening to me, I've lost count on how many test has been already done. I'm done asking for help, I don't get to go out, Most of my teeth broke from The daily vomiting but I guess that's not important to you guys. Don't ask me what I want done and you can't follow it.

The worst place to work for

The worst place to work for. Despite all the policies they have published online, discriminating pregnant women over equal opportunities and mothers with very young children over flexible work. Applying psychological and emotional abuse and various forms of harassment towards them and creating hostile environment. They openly devalue women by stating that these women become a burden so they apply abuse to get rid of them. My personal experience became a worst nightmare. Wouldn't recommend at any costs unless you want to damage your mental health in a very short period of time.
