Extremely Disappointing Experience
I placed an online order for four tyres, including fitting. The following day, I received an email from Halfords advising that there was an issue with the booking and requesting that I contact customer services.
When I called on 27 May, I was informed that a system error had occurred and that my order could not be fulfilled. I was assured that a full refund would be processed that same day. However, I made it clear during that call that I was happy to proceed with the purchase and accept the tyres, as I urgently needed them for my vehicle’s MOT. Despite this, no alternative solution was offered, and I was told that a refund would be issued instead.
Having received no refund, I contacted Halfords again on 4 June. I was then informed that the refund had not actually been processed until 2 June, several days after I was originally told it had been issued.
This delay has caused significant inconvenience. I purchased these tyres specifically because they were required for my vehicle’s MOT. Due to Halfords’ failure to either provide the tyres or process the refund as promised, I am now left with only a few days remaining before my MOT deadline while still being without both the tyres and the funds needed to purchase replacements elsewhere.
During my most recent call, I was advised that the matter would be escalated to management. However, I was then informed that it could take several more days before anyone responds to my complaint. Given the urgency of the situation and the time that has already elapsed, this response is disappointing.
I am extremely dissatisfied with the lack of organisation, poor communication, and failure to resolve what should have been a straightforward issue. I was willing to accept the tyres despite the booking problem because I needed them urgently, yet I was left without the product and without access to my money.
Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not use Halfords again and could not recommend them to others.
Very efficient staff
Mobile service balancing is a nightmare
Had all 4new tyres purchased online. The only option at checkout was mobile fitting service. When the service van arrives I checked the new tyres' DOT number and they were 2years old. The mechanic told me that tyres have 5years shelf life. After the tyres where fitted and "balanced" the steering wheel and seat where shaking. Called Halfords and they sent another mobile service van to re-balance the new tyres. After that, the problem was still ongoing. Called Halfords again and the same process was repeated. Problem was still not solved. The 4th time, Halfords sent mobile service with 4new tyres (again 2years old). Tyres were replaced and "balanced", the problem is still there. Called Halfords again and was told to go and balance them on any other garage and that I would be reimbursed by Halfords. Tyres fitted where from the premium brand range. Seems that they're trying to pass the responsibility to someone else instead of fixing the issue.
Excellent service from Halfords mobile…
Excellent service from Halfords mobile tyre fitter, friendly and took time to complete the job properly and clean off some corrosion that had caused my old tyre to lose pressure.
Irresponsible and unprofessional, time wasting.
The requested service (battery replacement) did not take place, as after three days of waiting I was informed the technician was all of the sudden off sick and my waiting time would be reset by another three days, possibly next week. I declined such a ridiculous offer and informed Halfords I would not be coming back to them for any more business.
Halfords mobile fitting massive letdown twice
I'd first like to say that Halfords the store, it's products, staff and it's in-store fitting is first class. However they have let me down badly with their mobile fitting service.
I booked in a dash cam fitting at my home for front and rear cameras. I was going to upgrade from what Halfords fitted in-store a few years ago.
The fitting price has doubled since the last time but the service has drastically gone downhill.
The technician took one look at my vehicle from the outside and sucked his breath in and said ooooh before even looking inside.
Then the excuses started why he couldn't do the job, not enough time, old cable won't come out easily, the cable isn't long enough. Every solution I presented was shut down.
So I phoned up and got the fitting rescheduled for 4 days later as that was the quickest they could fit me in. Come the morning of my fitting I got a call saying the technician had phoned in sick and when I phoned later was told he had quit the job that morning.
I've had to postpone my van being converted to a camper twice now, they were expecting to start it three days ago.
Halfords asked me if I would like to book a third time and I declined because I can't keep putting off the camper firm who are waiting for my van.
Also I have lost my £10 voucher I used to buy the dash cam and fitting. They have processed a refund minus my Motoring Club voucher.
Very unhappy and won't be using the mobile service again. I will stick to in-store, much better service.

Needed to replace the battery in my car due to poor voltage. I was going to take my car to Halfords to have it done until I saw they do mobile fitting. Arranged this on Halfords website, which was very easy to do. Arranged for the following day, for the mechanic to attend my home address. Was able to track mechanic, however was called by Mebin, who arrived quickly, did the job efficiently and was also a nice chap to boot. Thank you Mebin.

AVOID AVOID AVOID
AVOID AVOID AVOID - I wouldn't even be giving 1 star. Took my car in for a deep DPF clean, the car has come out worse than it went in! They have also put my milage as 67000 when my milage is 90,020 and it just so happens to not be covered under warranty once it's done 24,000 miles since the DPF Clean. I was also not given the diagnostics included in the clean so they didn't make note of the soot levels before or after the clean and it was stated that I would get this information. I had the soot levels read before I handed it to them for the clean and funny enough when it had come back they were the same..... plus they promise they drove it for 20 minutes but they must have been going 2mph as they only covered 0.5 of a mile..... They have now locked out the Regen function on my car so now I have to pay £499 for a specialist company, who have informed me not to drive the vehicle as it will cause engine damage. I gave the garage the benefit of the doubt and contact them to ask them to change the mileage to the true amount. When asking them about the diagnostics they said that the DPF was fine and clear - not realising I got this checked on my way home. I proceeded to ask them for the diagnostics that were promised and the change of mileage on my invoice..... yet to receive the email from them. They also said they didn't take diagnostics and they aren't sure what they were or are. They just stated it's fine and clear.
So, I call Halfords to discuss, having confidence that they would resolve this ASAP due to the fact that I cannot drive my car. But this was not the case they told me to wait 7 days (would not even refund me straight away!). After spending 2 hours on the phone they agreed they would call me back tomorrow. So currently awaiting a call back and money back.
They have been awful, I have never known such bad customer service in my life. I also mentioned that I have a 3hr commute to and from work everyday and that my father in law is severely ill in hospital (who I now cannot visit, due to the fact if I move my car it will damage my engine). Halfords you are a disgrace and so is your garage (National Tyres and Autocare, Telford, TF1 5AQ)
Easy and definitely recommend
I ordered 2 new tyres online and booked the mobile expert option. It's one of the best experiences I've had compared to taking my car to a workshop. I was able to pick a Sunday, which is more convenient for me and I picked the anytime slot from 8am to 8pm, but I was able to track what number I was on the list. I got a phone call by 10.30am from a polite and cheerful guy called Robson to say he'd be with me within half an hour. He arrived around the time expected and the job was done within half an hour too. Robson explained what he'd done and the reason for an issue I'd had with one of my tyres and he also told me who to contact if I have any issues anytime soon. I would definitely use this service in the future and recommend it to others.
Last minute cancellation with no alternative
Our mobile fitting appointment was cancelled on the actual appointment date with no alternative available - transfer to a local garage, rental car, etc.
I can't recommend Halfords' mobile fitting, sorry.
The Halford tyres technician with excellent skills
The Halford tyres technician was very friendly attentive and kind to clarify all queries with recommendations.

Awful. 2 different sets of fitters did a terrible job of balancing my wheels after £900 of new tyres were fitted by them. The second lot refused to acknowledge athe problem but anyway made a worse job than the first bloke. So I got my wheels balanced at my local garage afterwards andvthey are now perfect. Cost me £50. Halfords? Pah .. never again.
Service not provided on time. Twice.
Remote service person failed to turn up to an appointment in the allocated window. Not one time, but two. Support useless, they have no idea where techs are. The actual job was completed fine eventually, but overall was a huge pita.
