This is far from a 5 star hotel

This is far from a 5 star hotel so if that’s what you’re expecting avoid. The setting is stunning and has a lot of potential but:
1. Room wasn’t cleaned properly and hotel I’m general felt grubby in areas. I felt like I needed another shower when I got home.
2. Service wasn’t great, the female bartender was extremely rude on several occasions and clearly didn’t want to be there. (Really wish I’d have gotten her name!)
3. Food was okay, but again not 5 star or anywhere near it.
4. The steam room was out of service without any notice or advice.
5. Spa area is beyond basic. Feels more like a leisure centre than 5 star spa.
6. Workmen wandering around the spa area while we were there.
7. When we were checking out we weren’t asked about our stay. I suspect that is because they are used to hearing complaints.
Again, wouldn’t waste your money. Very disappointing

Do not stay here if heavily pregnant, they will not accommodate you.

Having spent years travelling from the most northern to southernly tip of this island and stopping at countless hotels along the way, never have I received such poor service let alone in an alleged 5 star hotel.
Firstly, I would like to highlight that this trip was a special one for my partner and I, as I am 8.5 months pregnant, and it was a 2 night stay for our babymoon.
Upon arrival on Monday evening, we checked in, and before going to the room, I requested the receptionist to confirm our spa treatment times for the following afternoon, as it has been a while since I booked them.
On contacting the spa, the receptionist presented confused, as it appeared the spa was having trouble finding our booking, and she requested we go and speak to them directly.
So, leaving our bags at the front desk, we went to the Thai Spa to see what the problem was. Upon a brief back and forth, the spa confirmed they had us as a customer (baring in mind we have never stayed here, so they had been in contact with me), to which I was able to show them the call log of making the booking, and having given my card details to secure said bookings. This first and foremost raises GDPR concerns, as they were unable to find this information. Where did my card information go?
The Spa then advised us they were fully booked, for the Tuesday for the treatments/times we had previously booked, so wouldn't be able to accommodate us. However could offer a 30 minute slot each, which given my partner had opted for a 60 minute hot stone massage and I a 90 minute maternity package, was just not what we wanted for our special trip.
When we elaborated this to the spa, they said they could offer a 60 minute treatment for us both on the Wednesday at 1.45. This would have been fine had it not been the case we were leaving Wednesday, and check out is at 12.
We then stated we could only do this if the front desk would provide us with late checkout, as we specifically booked treatments for the Tuesday so I would have access to our room after, as being heavily pregnant with diagnosed pelvic girdle or 'SPD', means I have difficulty with mobility and require help changing.
Upon returning to the front desk, this was all explained to the receptionist, who firstly said they could push check out to 12.30, which again was no use to us given the treatments would be ending at 3pm and we would require it to 4pm. This then resulted in the receptionist going back and forth from the back office to us, we assume to discuss with a manager who was for some reason unable to present themselves to discuss in person.. First it was 12.30, as mentioned, then 1pm, then best they could do was 3pm at a charge (!) of £40 rather than £60 due to the error.
At this point, it became clear no one was listening to us. Paying for late checkout was not the issue here, it was that the time wasn't what was required. But still, we were expected to pay for their mistake for my pregnancy related ailment which did not make it possible for me to change alone, on a wooden bench of a ladies locker room without my partners assistance. This is blatant discrimination of pregnancy according to the Equality Act of 2010. To this is was offered to provide a treatment room, to which we laughed as we were told the spa was fully booked other than our slots.
We then challenged the receptionist if it was the case that on a Wednesday in January, they were so fully booked, there wasn't a room they could spare for an hour, to allow a heavily pregnant person to change with assistance. The response was "sometimes we would be". Not answering the question. I myself checked their website upon hearing this, and had the option to book any number of rooms, they were simply unwilling to accommodate even when the issue was their mistake.
We then felt completely defeated and unwelcome, and as I said, discriminated against. With my partner becoming increasingly frustrated with how I was being treated, proceeded to go outside and ring the Manor house, just up the road, who when the situation was explained to, could not have gone further above and beyond to accommodate us, which we will be writing a very different review for shortly. With that we requested our booking/payment be voided and we were going elsewhere.
Long story short, I wouldn't stay here or recommend staying here from receiving this kind of treatment. It was frankly an embarrassment and felt surreal to experience.

New year get away

This was a gift ! What wasn’t a bad few days away I feel 4iclock check in is very very late and dispute being able to use the swimming pool it was very very noisy with kids. I asked could my husband and I use the spa facilities ie…. Sauna and steam room but it was completely booked out so it was a No No for us , I felt the day of arrival was a total waste hanging around until 4om to get into your room ! The room was nice and kept clean food was Ok poor menu for 5 star hotel in my opinion it’s more a 4 star hotel . Staff are lovely but few things could be updated….. (check in time , menu , and a bigger and better modern spa update.

Very poor service and food. Went for lunch last Monday in Blaney…

Went for lunch last Monday in Blaney bar for our daughters birthday. We have eaten there a couple of times every year over the last number of years. This has been really the worst experience. Waiting over an hour for our food. No checking in with us re more drinks, apologies about delay etc. When food did arrive, my chicken dish was most expensive dish and looked like boiled chicken and was disappointing, my sons nuggets were also poor. No condiments so left waiting for those although they should have been set with cutlery. A number of people at various tables complained during our time there. We finished up our disappointing meal and left and won't be back. Very poor service, husband asked to speak to duty manager who had conveniently disappeared. Service staff were nice and polite but standards have definitely dropped since previous visits. Not 5 star treatment.

No longer a 5 star jewel ……

Arrived in Lough Erne Hotel for a 2 night stay. Friends had given a voucher and we were so looking forward to our experience. The hotel is situated on the shores of Lough Erne and we were allocated a nice room overlooking the lough. The room was adequate for two persons… the furniture was a little tired as was bed linen. Toiletries are Voya and the nespresso machine facilitated large mugs of coffee with biscuits!

The food offerings are adequate. Dinner in the Catalina dining room requires some modifications particularly for the main course options. The waiting staff appear to be /are unsure of themselves and require additional training. They don’t engage with the guest and did not offer any condiments ie mustard. We were not asked until well into main course if we enjoying our meal? The dinner menu options were ok but a supplement of £10 for a tiny fillet of beef was excessive given that Lough Erne carries a 5 star rating. The sides inclusive of mashed potato were over cooked and it would haven been nice to have a second choice of vegetable other than turnip with a fillet of beef. Desserts are very good beautifully presented and prepared immediately in house.

Our evening meal on day two was outdoors in the bar courtyard. This experience was extremely unpleasant. Having been approached by a member of staff we were informed rather abruptly that two people wished to sit in the sun at this table. We had just finished our meal and were considering a dessert. Given the rude interjection and the two guests were now pulling up chairs at the table we decided to leave. Very disappointing and it did mean we checked out next morning quite annoyed.

Breakfast is average and the eggs Benedict option needs serious work to have the overcooked bacon taste like a proper rasher/ham. The attention to detail is very poor. Its just standard but not really a 5 star breakfast. Day 2 they forgot to bring the breakfast which necessitated leaving the table and asking at the breakfast area for my breakfast.

Most of the guests as is to be expected are from the US who avail of golf packages for the Faldo course and stay at Lough Erne. So most of the experience in Lough Erne is focused towards golf packages and they really do not need the local punters! That said all the staff were friendly except the individual who rudely interrupted the meal in the bar on day 2. Lough Erne may have been a jewel in the past.. however it needs to work harder to up its game to 5 star status. We are unlikely to return

Table booked for 1pm receipt 4.06pm and minus one course of the meal

To be honest wouldn't give a star if it was an option.
Spent mothers day here today in the Catalina restaurant for what felt like a lifetime and for a first mothers day experience. After 3 hours we called it quits after the longest service of our lives to wait for food. We left without receiving our tea and coffee as well as petit fours as wouldnt justify another extra hour in between a course !!
Horrendously slow service an hour in between each course is not justifiable. It also wasn't even that busy so I would be concerned if it had of been. Nearly complaints from every table were being made and lots of staff seemed to hide prob dodging the embarrassment of how slow they also had to wait on the food to be served.

Golf great- hotel service in the bar area very very poorpoor

Great resort for a golf break-both courses are in good condition and challenging. Castle Hume clubhouse was closed when we arrived and no staff anywhere to direct visitors. There was a telephone number to call which directed you to hotel reception so we went there for coffee before our round. However i stood for ages waiting at the hotel bar awaiting at least some acknowlegment to order. Then i could not find anyone around for me to pay- very bad start.
We were eventually directed to the 1st tee which was not particularly well sign posted.

Arrived in the hotel bar at 6pm-waited 25 mins for service_eventually went to the bar myself and got the drinks.30 mins later i had to go to the bar again to get drinks. Poor poor poor!
Went to the restaurant for our 7 pm reservation- staff could not find this even though this was booked by reception staff earlier in the morning. Resaurant food and service excellent. Rooms are very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Shame about hotel service, lots of other golf resorts around Ireland competing for business.Experience let down by poor service in bar areas

Disappointed big time

We visit alot of hotels and we were excited for this one as it looked beautiful on pictures but i can honestly say we were let down so much we left feeling like it was an absolute waste of money few points below...

1. Steam room broken and has been for some time when chatting with members.
2. Leisure facilities average at best looks like a leisure centre not a 5 star hotel/resort.
3 loughside bar steak dinner £36 consists of a small sized super salty steak one onion ring and two cherry tomatos NO veg, salad, chips or potatoes it was not good at all.
4. Beauty treatments under staffed therefore fully booked.

Tho breakfast was good thats about all i can say was good.

Very disappointing

Very disappointing! Standards have dropped considerably from previous stays. Three seperate calls from spa before arrival to ask exactly same questions at each call? Booked afternoon tea for husbands birthday and recieved a call to say they wouldn't be serving it on the 6th January, would i like to book lunch instead on the sunday. As it was booked with a voucher i couldn't use for anything else i was told they would talk to someone and get back to me,heard nothing so called before arrival and told you are booked in monday?! Unprofessional!
Service was terrible, from a long 3/4 hr wait for our booked afternoon tea, to an hours wait for dinner in the bar. When eventually my chicken arrived it was pink & when I sent it back discreetly to be recooked the waitress was sent back by the chef with it to tell me that's the way it's cooked! Bad management, disrespectful chef & nobody's around to care. We did not see any management in 3 days. Reported all the issues at reception, who took note on check out & nobody has been in contact. 5 star ? I would struggle to give it 3.
Very quiet when we were there so to be put in a booked lake view room with a wall to the left of window and a large balcony below us was not very nice..
Would we recommend this hotel again..no.
Sean the concierge/doorman was friendly, apologetic & a asset to this sadly depreciating hotel

Lovely food but a rude manager

Went out for some food which was lovely and a few drinks with friends. The bar/waiter staff in Lochside were lovely, but there was a so called manager there, black hair (Kelly). She was so rude and unprofessional. We listened to her call the staff crude names and hurl abuse at them. To me this was not professional behavior or any way to treat staff. I am an employer myself and if I behaved in the manner she did I would have no staff. There are correct procedures to follow when rep remanding staff. To call a person a stupid C**t as they walked away was outrageous. How do managers get away with her attitude in this present day, I do not Know as she is a bully!!!

The staff looked as if they did not want to be there when she was in the room. Their faces changed from warm and friendly to petrified. They were not even allowed to have a conversation with one another while they worked. If this is how 5* management treat their staff then I would not recommend working in that environment.
We had been to the Killyhevlin another night and the atmosphere amongst the staff was amazing which left them very friendly and chatty with the customers. The energy of the room was brilliant and in return we got a fantastic service. Warm friendly environment along with good food will always guarantee a return for the customer. Manners are easy carried.

The hotel has 5 stars. The service lets that down to maybe a 3.

The hotel has 5 stars. The service in the bar does not reflect that. Twenty minutes after finishing our meal I had to go to the bar and point out that our plates and empty glasses hadn’t been cleared, we hadn’t been asked if we would like to see the dessert menu, or if we would like more drinks. Then the bill had a service charge added, for two people. Oh, and they couldn’t get our drink order right either. Not 5 Stars from me.

Great Place, Great Staff and a Great Stay

You sometimes pay for what you get and yes some may say that Lough Erne is expensive but you most certainly get your money’s worth. My wife being a regular visitor booked for one night stay and 5 course evening meal. Before we had even arrived we got upgraded to a Suite, beautiful room. Small box of chocolates with a little note thanking us for being frequent users.
On arrival for a 5 Course meal they asked about the dietary requirements for one us, which we do not require but going through the notes of previous visits they had found the requirements of a friend, I thought this was a nice touch to care enough to check past visits.
The meal was superb, each course explained by the waiters, how it was prepared and where the ingredients came from. I would add this point all locally sourced within Northern Ireland right down to the hand churned butter!!
I hope the management read this because I want to praise one of the staff, Ethan went above and beyond not just for us but for everyone that night. He took time to listen to our stories and each table over and over again, he was the perfect host and the next morning at breakfast remembering our names and then gave us a lovely table overlooking the Lough.
I have read some of the comments and I can honestly say I have a totally opposite experience of this wonderful place. Can they get it right all the time? No because we all can make errors, is the place perfect? No but it strives to be and that is all we can ask.

Great place, great staff and a great stay

Disappointing

I was destined to be disappointed; my initial impression of the decor was it was old fashioned, this in itself was not a bad thing as some hotels have a commanding presence with the use of older decor and style. However I feel that on this particular occasion it fell short of that and instead looked rather worn. Ignoring this, I went to the check in the receptionist was a delight, she was funny and informative making sure to tell us where the main amenities were and how to access them from our room.
As we were early for our check in time we decided to head for a bite to eat at their bar, mainly for convenience and as the resort was classed as 5* I though what could go wrong! We entered the bar area and, honestly, I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to wait to be seated or just pick a spot and plop down. The staff at the bar area seemed to either not be aware we had entered or chose to ignore us; I’m hoping it was the former. We took ourselves off to a seat and waited for someone to bring down a menu, a couple moments later a lovely server came down to hand over the menus and ask if we’d like a drink. We had a look over the menu and were quite shocked at the prices of some of the items; again thinking well it’s a 5* establishment we should really have expected the price to reflect the high standard of meal. Sadly this wasn’t the case the food came out and it was just passable.
I must preface this by saying the voucher for the stay was a gift and was organised to have a courtyard viewing room; it was in fact overlooking, skips, bins and the delivery entrance. Trying to keep the small sliver of optimism that the other aspects of our stay would compensate for the courtyard view being nothing more that a dumping area. At various times during the evening the clang of glass bottles being emptied into a bin was heard, the coming and going of golf carts and reversing beeps from other vehicles was almost a constant noise in the background creating a not so restful ambience. Even worse still was first thing in the morning the noise levels increased and from 7/8am it started up again. This steadily got worse as the day went on, The breakfast was underwhelming, baring in mind again this was a 5* rated hotel we thought it would be an impressive spread however instead we got what most other average hotels offered; The few pastries that were available were hard and didn’t exactly seem fresh. I made an effort the second day to order eggs Benedict but was again disappointed in the overwhelmingly vinegary Hollandaise sauce, the poached eggs were palatable enough but the muffin they were served on was dry and stale.
The spa facilities were not what I would consider luxurious. There are two showers, one small pool, a jacuzzi, a steam room and a sauna with 4 loungers.
Returning to my room I opted to lay down and try to relax there only to be treated to a slew of sounds from outside the room. These went on for quite some time before I finally gave in and decided I’ll contact reception. Upon being shown another room the staff member made comments about ‘never having noise complaints before’ which left me feeling like my grievances were just an inconvenience to the staff. It seems the resort is coasting by on their previous prestigious reputation of hosting some famous guests and being a members only golf range; most of the impressions given by those staff members who are directly in contact with guests lack a level of basic politeness and on a couple occasions there was a general understanding that to the guests who weren’t members they weren’t seen as important enough to even acknowledge going as far as to ask whether we were members and physically changing their interactions based on this. There was a brusqueness from these staff members that left us feeling very much like an inconvenience; even going so far as to physically shoo us away when a member wanted a photograph by a window.

We booked one of the lodges for two…

We booked one of the lodges for two nights, when we arrived there was no heating in the two bedroom lodge. It was December and -4 with freezing fog the whole stay. Part of the day was clear but still -4. The first night we asked to have the heating checked. Nothing happened. Next morning we were up extremely early to pick up our son from the airport. It was too cold to sleep well. On the way I called to ask someone to check the heating. When we got back it wasn’t any warmer. I thought maybe the heating was on a timer. Called at reception to ask again, I was asked who I reported the problem to and the girl said she would let her know. Nothing happened. We were sitting in scarfs, coats and body warmers. I called reception and asked for the person I had spoken to first thing in the morning. She said she would send someone, he turned up fairly quickly got some heat going but didn’t improve the comfort of the place. 4 attempts to get a basic requirement is very poor, not even an acknowledgment or apology.
