Stratstone Mercedes of Ayr …Terrible service
Stratstone Mercedes of Ayr — booked for Sat Nat update before going on holiday to France , when returned to pick car up I was told they couldn’t do the update as their server was down . They also carried out a recall update but the following day ( today ) the engine management light has come on . I immediately phoned the garage who state it had nothing to do with what they had done .
I’m now worse off than before my visit , it’s the weekend and we leave on Monday …. Garage made no suggestions or even any offer to assist ..will never be back .
Costed for work that wasn't needed
Basically my car had a health check and I was told there was over £1000 of urgent work needed. I'd had the car less, than 8 months, so I went and had it checked by another garage. Turns out no urgent work was required.
I've now Sent this to the regulators and I encourage more people to do this. This company needs to be looked into.
Absolutely shocking
Absolutely shocking. Woeful. Horrendous. There simply aren’t enough adjectives in the English language to describe how useless this company is.
I have paid for the premium “guarantee” since buying my car in 2021 and have now encountered a fault. At the time of sale, it was all described as a hassle-free, complete peace of mind, no-brainer. However, now that I actually need to utilise the guarantee, Pendragon are nowhere to be seen. I was given an email account to contact, who then tell you to look online, when you then look online, you’re directed back to the same email address. After asking 2 very clear and specific questions about my “guarantee”, I was then essentially told to google it and figure it out myself, on several occasions. When I complained that my questions hadn’t been answered, and that the info online was useless, they’ve now stopped replying to my emails. This company have absolutely no inclination to help any of its customers. Meanwhile, my broken car still sits out of action after nearly a week of chasing useless idiot after useless idiot. Pathetic company, avoid at all costs

Had misfortune to deal with them twice
First an Evans Halshaw Citreon branch in Bicester, arranged a test drive, waited nearly an hour from appointed time yep the sales guy was busy but could have said an apology or let someone else deal with me.
Then went back (fool as i am) to buy another car and sell mine. Had to go through a 2 hour salespitch then receive a derisory reduction based on work which was part of service schedule in 2 years time.
Lastly dealings with Stratstone Glasgow again didn't honour promise to repay travelling expenses to pick car up rather than me paying for delivery. And also despite "selling" me 3 year service plan which I signed for, failed to sort it out.
Avoid any Pendragon company they are totally untrustworthy and have no customer etiquette.

I bought a car from car store Gloucester which broke down and had to go in the garage, as it was needing a part I was without my car a week so needed to find a hire car which was part of the premium guarantee I purchased.
After sending several e-mails to pendragon for help sorting a hire car, I was made to feel completely stupid and they kept telling me they didn’t have a claim against my policy, well As I explained that’s because I already told them I haven’t made a claim…. Yet!!
I got fed up being ignored by then as they stopped replying and basically said unless my car had been in the garage 8 hours they wouldn’t help me, I guess a week without a car isn’t good enough for them?!?!
Absolutely appalling service. Would not recommend to anybody.

I am surprised that you keep sending me emails asking for my opinion on your service. It was that bad, I wasn’t going to write anything, but seeing as you keep asking, here it is. I’m probably one of many unhappy customers you won’t want to hear from. I would have thought you would have heard how bad the service has been right from the start from Mercedes Wakefield.
I sent a detailed complaint via email about a week after I collected the car, so I’m not wasting more time explaining it all again. I was under some sort of illusion that I could have expected higher than average customer service when buying a 30k car. Even though I knew I would not see a red carpet, I expected a red-carpet experience. Instead, it felt more like the rug was whipped out from beneath my feet. It began and finished with a salesman who did not deliver on many things he told us would be happening. I did nothing to make the sale awkward, I accepted everything you said, and paid the full asking price.
After my email, the absolute shocker was when I had a call from the manager. Although I wasn’t expecting an apology, I would have thought there would be one, but there wasn’t. She admitted we had been let down by your service. Although I could have taken the car back to do all the work that should have been done in the first place, I didn’t want to. If you can’t do it right in the first place, why am I going to trust you to work half-heartedly on this car under duress??! I asked for a good-will gesture, but this was deemed unacceptable so was halved, and get this, I could only have that bit on the condition that this rectified all the mistakes and I had no future claims! Instead of saying something like ‘let us know if we can be of any further help to resolve any of the ongoing issues’, there was nothing of the sort.
Disgusting from start to finish. You deserve to be closed down, and re-apply for your jobs again. Bye bye.

Pretty awful experience, bought a used vauxhall astar from Evans halshaw hull,i bought the car online and was assured the car was 'well looked after' but was lied to,faults were hidden from me from the start,the car arrived with body work and mechanical faults which got worse, the salesperson basically told me he is told by his management to hide faults from customers even though it states in their terms and conditions that online customers should be made aware of any faults, was told the car would be repaired,this went on for weeks,when I finally got it to a vauxhall specialist it came back with countless faults and i was told it wouldn't be repaired anytime soon, I ended up returning the car. I emailed pendragon to complain about this and was told management at the branch I bought the car from would be handling the complaint, the same management that are telling their sales team to hide faults from customers, I was promised compensation from them as I'm hundreds out of pocket because of this ordeal and haven't received anything, the whole thing has just been a lot of stress I didn't need and on top of that I'm now without a car, pendragon have zero interest in their customers and how branches trading under their banner sell cars.

Car is good and salesman was good too.
Only complaint I have and think has let the company down is the valeting! The valeting was not very good and could be improved a lot.

Like many other unfortunate people I had the misfortune of dealing this this AWFUL BUSINESS – EVANS HALSHAW FORD BURY, PART OF PENDRAGON PLC. I purchased a red Fiat 500 X 4x4 petrol registration LY65TPV and made it totally clear from the first conversation to James, the employee at Evans Halshaw Ford Bury, that service history was a priority. James was quick to communicate at first and keen to take payment before month end ‘for targets’ but after that became utterly useless. The vehicle was delivered without notice with a broken door handle and absolutely no fuel, cigarette burns, generally tatty, poorly refitted plastic bits which would suggest repairs, corrosion and bent rails on the underside where it was incorrectly jacked up. I subsequently purchased another Fiat 500X - what a difference, LY65TPV IS AN ABSOLUTE LEMON in comparison. But that paled against the next issue, the fact that the vehicle had NO PHYSICAL SERVICE HISTORY. I was emailed a scrappy PDF and provided another invoice. I told them they would need to take the vehicle back. They tried hard not to accept it, with a silly poorly trained manager, Paul, rambling on about how new vehicles did not come with a service book as this info was online but when I asked him where it could be accessed he told me the vehicle was old. A 2015 £11k vehicle isn’t exactly an old banger. The vehicle was fetched, IT TOOK MORE THAN A MONTH TO BE FULLY REFUNDED, with James blaming head office for the slow pace. I lodged two online complaints, 532048265 & 532141307. The only response were two automated emails ironically titled ‘reputation’. I called Pendragon PLC twice, was informed that the lady who dealt with complaints was working from home AND NEVER HAD A RESPONSE from her either. I was surprised to see this was an LSE listed business. Take a look at 2.2 rating on TrustPilot for PENDRAGON PLC, they couldn’t even be bothered responding to any reviews… that is all you need to know that should something go wrong in your dealings with Evans Halshaw Ford Bury, you’re certainly on your own and will likely be out of pocket.
Car held in ransom due to Evans Halshaw not paying their bill!
My used car had a fault which was booked to be repaired under the 3-Month Warranty issued by Evans Halshaw. The repair was completed in 2 days by an external garage. I am still waiting to get my car back as it is being held as a lien until Evans Halshaw decides to pay them. I have been told this could be 30 days! Very little communication throughout. I expected to be receiving my car back after the repair had been completed!
No courtesy car, no expenses reimbursed, no admittance of fault.
Very Poor! I will not be doing business with them again, not worth the risk.

Me - 69 year old retired engineer.
Car - Renault Clio Dynamique (23,000 miles) Now out of warranty.
I bought the car new for my wife and very rarely use it. It had passed its MOT on Monday with flying colours and no had absolutely no issues. I drove home and opened boot to retrieve something. I closed the boot a wee bit heavy handed and it did not lock. A quick check confirmed that it was DEFINITELY THE LOCK. You can buy them from Amazon/Ebay for £30. Replacing the lock would require removing the trim etc and I decided to call Evans Halshaw Renault Edinburgh as they were the closest dealer. The lock had to be replaced as the FAULTY BOOT LOCK stops all other doors from locking.
I explain to the service desk that it was DEFINITELY THE BOOT LOCK but they insisted that they would still have to complete a diagnostics check! I could not reason with the service desk that it was DEFINITELY THE BOOT LOCK, so I gave in and the car was booked in for Thursday. I arrived at 8:00am and handed the car over for a BOOT LOCK ONLY REPAIR. I Received a call at 3:30pm and they told me THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART! At this point I BLEW MY TOP and went ABSOLUTELY NUTS on the phone and took it out on the poor service centre lad. I then received 3 identical text message to tell me that they had carried out a courtesy check and a list of advisery items that needed repaired. Brake pads,discs, tyre tread cracks (Yokohama tyres 6 months old) etc, etc, etc. What! the car had just past its MOT with absolutely no problems whatsoever. How long did this phoney courtesy check take?
I will now finish by saying that IT WAS DEFINITELY THE BOOT LOCK THAT WAS FAULTY AND THEY CHARGED ME £290.68p !!!!

PS:- When the same Clio was only 2 weeks old it went totally DEAD. It was was towed to Evans Halshaw - Renault Dacia Edinburgh. It was a faulty electronic CPU CARD.
Guess what? THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART AND IT WAS 6 WEEKS BEFORE GETTING THE CAR BACK !!!

Pointless guarentee
Bought a car from there last year with a 3 year guarentee only for it to break down within 10 months. After the second time it broke down I took it to a dealership that found the issue and quoted to Pendragon. It was a battery issue. This car is 5 years old. Apparently the battery is not covered by the guarentee leaving me with the full bill. What is the point in the guarentee then? Would not recommend to anyone and will actively push people to go elsewhere

I was treated appallingly following a health scare and was isolated and was pushed out by childish managers. I wouldn’t go anywhere near this group for employment or a car. No money is spent preparing used cars and they sell cars with many issues with no care of the customer.
All they will do is make jokes about you and your family sitting behind a one way mirror in the managers office

I drove 2 hours (100 miles) to derby to view a car which had been incorrectly advertised, I called the dealership twice to confirm information about the car before setting off and to confirm if the car was ready to be driven away that day and was told it was. Before going on a test drive i was told by salesman 1 that the vehicle wouldn’t actually be ready for another 2-3 days which was not what I had been told on the phone. After going for a test drive I was going over the facts and figures about the car with one of the salesmen. Firstly, I was told that the vehicle had not been through preparation so I would have to wait around 2 weeks. I was annoyed about this but I was willing to wait to ensure the vehicle had been through the necessary preparation.
I had taken an experienced car trader with me who spotted that the vehicle was advertised with 1 owner but actually if i bought the car, i would become the 3rd owner. I was really upset about this as I specifically questioned this on the phone before going there. The salesman then called the manager of Stratford Derby who came down to speak to us. The manager then came down and began speaking to us in an extremely rude and intimidating manner. We were made to feel unwelcome and he went as far as saying “if you want it at that price, take it. If not, I’ll sell the car today not a problem”. My friend who has experience of advertising on AutoTrader tried to explain to the manager that the error made on the advertisement was manually entered and that somebody had manually changed the number of owners. Nathan did not like being corrected by my friend about the vehicle being advertised incorrectly and became extremely defensive and his language and tone became extremely unprofessional.
I did not buy the car and ended up leaving the dealership with a different opinion about BMW as a whole. Although Stratsone Derby does not represent BMW as a whole, I feel that a reputable and trusted company like BMW should be represented by someone who at least has the very basic level of decency and attitude towards customers.
As a previous customer of Mercedes, i can comfortably say that the customer service I have received from them over the last 4 years is a million miles better than what I received at Stratstone Derby.

I haven't got time to write to personal reviews but Vauxhall have got the same one.
In 2015 I bought a brand new Vauxhall Corsa from the Evans Halshaw Shiremoor branch.
2016 Vauxhall recalled the car as the back end of the car might lose power.
2016 EH Shiremoor visually inspected the car and said it would never happen.
2019 the issue happened and I paid over £300 at the EH Cramlington branch to have it fixed. They also installed a part broken and then blamed me. This was pointed out when they handed the keys back to me.
2020 I was about to finish paying for the car and looked through the paperwork and found the recall letter. Then queried why I have paid for the fix when it was a known problem.
The Cramlington branch were engaged via Resolver used the pandemic to suspend the issue and never returned any emails.
I contacted the Pendragon Group who are in charge of the EH name. They said I should try speaking to the garage. Then blamed Vauxhall and said speak to them.
I want nothing to do with the VAUXHALL brand or EH other than get my money back.
Vauxhall offered £250 in vouchers to use with them for the inconvenience.
I literally don't care who give me my money back, what investigation has to be done at each site. Vauxhall allow these garages to have Vauxhall written on them. And you always get, 'its Vauxhall Standard' well if this is the standard its disgraceful.

I enquired about a vehicle which I was informed was still available. Negotiated a sale and left a deposit. I was then informed 24 hours later that the vehicle was already sold by a sister company the previous day. Wasted my entire day. Leadership have not even had the professional courtesy to call me. Will be issuing legal proceedings for breach of contract. (Offer, Acceptance and Consideration). Clear breach of contract.
