My first time using UK Digital and…

My first time using UK Digital and definitely not my last, I ordered 2 Viltrox Pro lenses and within 15mins I had an email to inform me that the items had been shipped wow ! Not only that, they were delivered the next day before 9am and I'm in the opposite end of the country.

I have used MPB, WEX, Parks for my business and are all good but I would add UK Digital to that list easily, the service was lightning fast, thanks guy's.

Sigma fp L + EV - perfect service from UKDigital

I bought the Sigma fp L with free EV from UKDigital. Having been scammed online a couple of times, I did check them out as much as I could (Companies House, TrustPilot, Google Maps, Google Reviews) and they looked good. They were good. Comms was great, the packaging superb, the delivery time was excellent. I will be buying more from UKDigital, without hesitation.

great customer service

I had to return an item because it ended up being surplus to requirement. The team dealt with my case promptly and with great communication. Also, I left my own cable in the package which they offered to return. They were patient and friendly. Would 100% recommend as a company to trust.

Fast service

Ordered Canon EOS R7 and adapter at 130pm and arrived next day after paying for next day. Everything great can't fault them.

Good, speedy service

No much to say - just what good service.

Emailed a question to confirm stock from website, got an email back 10 mins later saying “I’ll check”. A few mins later emailed again with confirmation.

I bought it, and 45mins later it was picked up by DHL.

Can't fault their products and customer service

Very impressed that they stocked a lens that's hard to obtain in the UK (Laowa 60mm macro lens with micro four-thirds mount). Packaging was suitable and the item was boxed and sealed and in mint condition.

Had an issue with the courier (DHL), but Debbie at UK Digital responded straight away and got on the case, and eventually the item arrived. Can't fault their products and customer service.

A canny Yorkshireman looks after his brass!

Yes, I did venture into Lancashire for this purchase because nowhere was beating their price! Having enquired by telephone about my intended purchase (Panasonic S5 and extras - see the reviews) and told it was all in stock, I took my passport and entered into deepest Clitheroe to buy direct, rather than wait for delivery. Got all that I wanted, and a good price for a part exchange, and a Power Bank was thrown in free for good measure. Will probably need some accessories in the future for the camera and UK Digital will be my first port of call.

Think twice before using this company

Think twice before using this company, they are OK when all goes well but if you have a problem like I had beware.

I recently bought a lens from them as their website showed a special offer saving £40. However the sales confirmation email didn’t arrive for an hour or so and sometime during this period their website changed to ‘backorder’, (as I had bought the last one), the offer was removed and they charged me the full price. It was several hours before I had chance to look at the emails and discovered the incorrect price. When I took this up with UK Digital the next day they denied ever having had an offer and refused to refund me the overpayment, I wish I had taken a screenshot to prove it!! A web search for history on that page showed there had been an offer which changed that day. If the lens had not been an offer I would have bought elsewhere as other companies offer free next day delivery against UK Digitals 3-5 days.

The lens arrived 5 days later with serious damage to the packaging, it had obviously been subjected to quite a shock and I was concerned about damage to the lens. I had not opened the lens box as I wanted a replacement and asked to return it, they agreed but refused to pay the return postage costs saying "There is no evidence that the item is damaged in any way” despite not being able to examine it My argument, and the reason I wanted a replacement, was that lens elements could have been loosened by the shock and there could be damage as the lens had not been checked. They were quite adamant that they would not pay for return postage, obviously not very concerned for their customer and not very helpful.

I returned the lens and again asked for a refund of postage which they still refused stating "There is no damage at all to the lens” so I presumed they had tested it and I asked for copies of test images. It turned out they hadn’t even unpacked the lens but had put it straight back on sale at £30 more than I was charged as there had been a price increase for new stock, (so they could have re-imbursed my postage and still made more profit). To me this is just greedy and irresponsible, how could they possibly sell a lens knowing there could be a problem with it!! It also turned out they had put the price up on all their other Laowa stock as soon as a price increase was announced whereas all the other retailers I checked had not, and still haven’t two weeks later. It may be legal to do this but it is a bit immoral.

As UK Digital were delaying the refund I complained to PayPal who refunded me in full and also refunded me for the return postage.

The lens I bought and returned was a Laowa 25mm F2.8 2.5-5x Ultra Macro Lens for Sony, the serial number on the box was EO19745 so if anyone has bought this I would recommend returning and asking for another as there could be damage to this lens now or in the long term as a result of the damage in transit to me.

I would not recommend buying from this company, I urge anyone to check their prices against others and compare their delivery charges, many others offer free next day delivery and hopefully much better after sales service if needed.

The reply from UK Digital is as expected, in response:

1&2. the lens I attempted to purchase was advertised at a discount otherwise I would have bought elsewhere with better delivery terms. The website search confirms the lens had been on offer and had increased in price that day.

3. I didn't open the package as that was the advice I received from CA. Your packing was a single wall carton. Yes lenses travel but they don't arrive with a great hole in the box.

All complaints were justified. You may state 3-5 days delivery but when you advise an item has been despatched on a 48 hour delivery then it is expected in 48 hours.

Given the type of damage i.e. a hole punched through this is serious and you should have checked the lens when it was returned to you - just in case, and I feel it is irresponsible that you chose not do do this.

I did not neglect to return all items, you were advised by email on 10th November (the same day you received the lens) that I would keep the ring light as I was buying a lens elsewhere.

Finally you did not refund me, your email stated "As you have opened a PayPal case we were not able to partially refund £399, and any refund will now be through PayPal's dispute timeframe". Rather than delay PayPal refunded me directly.

Its also interesting to note they didn't defend their immoral price increase!!

I have investigated your case. The "facts" you claim are completely misleading or incorrect!

Firstly, you paid for a lens and agreed the price advertised (£399 on the 31st October) on our website. It is not possible for us to charge your credit / debit card for more than the amount agreed to on our website. The price was clearly displayed on the product page, in the basket, in the checkout and in PayPal. Maybe you forgot to factor in the £39.90 paid for the additional Ring Light?

The lens mount you chose was not on offer (there are six different lens mounts, only one was on a clearance offer, a Pentax mount). You purchased the last lens of the Sony E mount. Hence the change on our website from "In Stock" to "Backorder". This is automated.

Third party search engines or Apps are not indicative of an existing offer. Quite often they are not updated for several weeks or months or in respect to lenses, for the correct mount version.

Secondly, you opted for the free shipping service. This takes 3-5 working days. It was delivered on the fifth day after you had placed the order.

Thirdly, all orders are very well packed. Any external damage that may occur in transit will be minimised, negating the possible damage to the products placed within. In this case external damage to the outer double wall carton did not cause any damage to the inner product boxes. Images provided by yourself was evidence of this. You did not open, check or test the lens. Supposition that the lens being “possibly damaged” is therefore baseless.

Consider the fact that products (a lens) will travel thousands of miles from the place of manufacture. You or ourselves would not be aware of how it has been shipped, what the state of the shipping cartons were, and how it was handled throughout its travel. It is implausible to deduce that "something could" be wrong with the product based on minor damage to an outer carton. It is misleading to suggest otherwise.

You have complained throughout the various stages of the purchase. Whether concerning the price you paid, to the time it took to deliver the parcel, and the damage to the outer carton.

Our customer service team have dealt with your queries quickly and decisively. In most instances less than one hour.

The negativity throughout the process was a pretext to get a discount. As we did not agree to a discount this is the result. Falsehoods!

Finally, we are always committed to adhere to the Consumer Contract Regulations 2022 and refunds completed in a timely manner. Returned on the 10th November and a refund was initiated on the 11th November. A single day delay in this instance was due to opening a PayPal case and neglecting to return all items. The ring light with a value of £39.90 was not returned.

What a surprise - good reviews - are they genuine??

UK digital are delaying refunding for a FAULTY camera accessory. It is now over three weeks - and I have just received another message of excuses.

To make matters worse they insist the faulty part works - this is to avoid refunding the return postage.

Oh yes they will talk down to you, treating you like an idiot who doesn't know how to use a piece of kit!!

BEWARE!! and don't expect a refund for faulty goods.

Outstanding Service

Used UK digital for the first time this week and couldn't be more impressed. The offered the best deal on the Fuji XT4 I wanted, with free high capacity Card thrown in. Ordered on Sunday, and when I had a question about delivery on Monday morning, I had an immediate response. Order processed and dispatched within hours, with very prompt and efficient service from Debbie in Customer Services. Excellent range of products, best prices, great customer service - Highly recommend

Excellence

I can only recommend that any new or experienced photographer uses their local camera store. I have used UK Digital since I started photography and they have guided me through my hobby and always given good advice and offered equipment from stock at fair prices.
Customer service from all the team is excellent and when a recent camera was supplied by the manufacturer faulty they did everything possible to correct the situation
Please consider this company if you are local to Lancashire, they also have an easy to use website and the delivery service cannot be faulted

Excellent and Local to me

I found UK Digital on a search for a RF70-200 mm lens and called them to see if they had one in stock. I initially spoke to a lady and somewhat blatantly asked if they were a UK company or a drop shipper (gray market type of operation) she was very polite and told me that they were UK based. I check their location and was pleased to see that they were based less than an hours drive away so I asked if they would sell me the lens and if I could collect it. I spoke to Simon and Paul and then went next day to collect my SUPER AMAZING RF lens and have to say I couldn't be happier. I even part exes a lens on the spot and when I did not have the cap they said I could send it to them. Paul spent time having a chat and was not rushing me and now I have a go to place where I can pop in and pick up bits and bats and of course new gear. Will be buying another new toy when they release in March and will only go to these guys now. As for reading some of the negative reviews, I personally totally disagree with them . I don't write many reviews but felt compelled to come home and do this one. Thanks to you all, Ash

Excellent fast delivery - Ulanzi ST-03

I have only used UKDigital once and it was only for a small item (a tripod mount adapter for smartphones), however their responsiveness from the time of ordering and dispatch and subsequent delivery was excellent. (granted that physically larger items may take longer)
Ordered yesterday - received today - Excellent.
Product very good also and well made. This was for a Ulanzi ST-03

I had a fantastic experience this week…

I had a fantastic experience this week dealing with Paul.

I'm a hobbyist photographer and recently upgraded from the Sony RX100V to the brand new Sony a7iv. To say I was excited about this upgrade is an understatement and I ended up calling Paul the second I knew the camera was in UK Digitals building. Paul ensured it was with me the very next day and the free bag is perfect for the body & two lenses I'd bought separately. As a further bonus, despite this particular offer not being live when I first made the order three weeks ago, I also got the free power bank.

I've found recent changes in customer focus from other companies means it can be hard to deal with them but that is absolutely not the case here.

Awful experience - AVOID

If you want to know everything that there is to know about UK Digital then just see what they have written below.

They have quoted from a Private email, and have also misrepresented what I have said.

This is solely to protect their own reputation.

They seem to have no interest at all in helping customers. None.

Luckily, with help from Wex and Panasonic I managed to get Laowa in China to pay attention. And they have recreated the issue.

My colleague apologised for any issue and for any inconvenience. My colleague was prompt in responding, polite and courteous. He requested the Firmware version and for you to check the electrical contacts. Your response to our advice of checking contacts were clean was, quote "And on 'dirty contacts' - one step removed from eBay scammers, aren't you." and stated "China ever gives a crap about anything breaking". We have asked you to return the item twice in email correspondence. You have stated we are refusing to help, but those assertions are totally false and unjustified. You stated you are going to request a chargeback. We again request you return the item and apologise for any inconvenience with regard to a fault with your item.
