The lift looks great in the adverts.. but
The lift looks great in the adverts, but has a couple of flaws that they don't mention. As the lift lowers you into the bath, you have to slide across on the belt, which is a problem if you have a reconstructed bath and its painful to slide yourself sideways. When you raise yourself, this is compounded by the feeling that you are being drawn into the motor unit which is disconcerting. By the time you find this out, you will have installed the unit, which means that they won't offer you a refund - but they will offer you a special cushion for £65 that they claim help you to slide sideways. Why they don't offer this from the start is beyond me. That feels like a pressure sale. The only other option they offer is that you try and sell the unit on eBay. They're currently advertised on there for around £400 so that's £550 down the drain. Think very carefully before you purchase and read their small print before you take it out of the box. Oh - and by the way, it doesn't come with any installation instructions.

This type of bath lift does require some sideways movement on the belt, and we completely understand how this can be challenging or painful for some users, especially where there is a reconstructed bath or existing mobility issues. Your comments on the sensation of being “drawn into” the motor unit are also helpful, and we’re feeding this back to the manufacturer and reviewing how clearly we explain these points on our product page so that suitability is easier to assess before purchase.
In your case, the unit wasn’t faulty: the issues related to comfort and suitability, which is why we weren’t able to offer a full refund once it had been installed and used, in line with our terms and conditions. That said, we did try to help in every way we could after you got in touch: discussing your specific set-up, suggesting adjustments, and offering the sliding cushion as an additional option to make transfers easier. The cushion is an optional accessory rather than something everyone needs.
We’re also reviewing the way installation guidance is supplied so that it’s clearer and easier to follow from the outset. We never want anyone to feel “stuck” with a product, and your review will help us improve both our information and our support for future customers.
