I’ve bought so many cars and vans from this auction. Their descriptions are always wrong, their pictures are terrible don’t show the extent of the damage when I’ve tried to call back to speak to someone, I’ve been told it’s my fault and basically that I have to just deal with it. It’s in their small print that they hold no responsibility.

Shocking customer service – avoid!

Easy to use, customer service is helpful and efficient

My experience with IAA/Synetiq following the write-off of my vehicle was deeply distressing and completely avoidable.

After the vehicle was collected through my insurer and entered IAA/Synetiq’s disposal process, I asked the insurer for the necessary details to properly complete the DVLA log book transfer. I was not provided with the information required to do so. IAA also didn’t provide me the detail. Despite my effort to ensure the log book was updated, I was left unable to finalise the transfer myself without the necessary information.

As a result, the DVLA record remained in my name when the vehicle later incurred traffic penalties long after it had left my possession and control. I then had to deal with multiple enforcement notices, formal appeals, and a DVLA correction process for penalties linked to a vehicle I no longer owned.

What makes this particularly upsetting is that all of this was happening while I was arranging family funerals and coping with the loss of my cousin to suicide. I made IAA/Synetiq aware of my circumstances at the time. Despite this, there was no meaningful urgency, support, or practical assistance to resolve an issue that arose within their disposal chain.

Instead, I was left carrying the administrative and legal risk while the vehicle was moving through their auction process.

For a large, professional salvage operator, there should be clear and immediate procedures to ensure keeper records are updated and former owners are not exposed to enforcement action. In my case, that protection simply wasn’t there.

I've been a customer for many years, and would recommend these guys if you want to buy a salavge car.
