Stores closed down and gave no further support when needed.
I got two pairs of glasses from Brillen since 2023, and both of them were giving me headaches. When I tried to contact them, they've already closed down. I wasted my money, and made my vision much worse because of the wrong prescription they have given me. No responses were given. They should have at least taken these into consideration and have assigned a customer's service for a few months for their new existing customers before closing down. If not a repair, then they could've offered a refund because it's a total waste of money. I had to pay elsewhere to get my prescription glasses correctly. Meaning, I had to spend double for no reason.

One star is too many, from the first eye test and glasses to the complaint it took so long that the company closed down. I never got a refund or replacement lenses for the glasses that I can't use because they fit badly. No compensation. The company assured me that the complaint was open and someone would contact me - no one has responded yet; it's been over 2 years.

Superb lenses
Superb lenses, unrivalled by anything else I have tried. Absolutely clear and no distortion from the first second of putting them on.
I was sorry to see that they have shut up shop in the UK. Unlike others who have left reviews, I had my eye tests and fittings with a participating opticians, so no problem with prescription or fitting. The frame selection is a little limited, but adequate. All worth it for the quality of the lenses.
I hope to see them reappear.

absolutly discusted with this company failed to make the correct prescription twice and now are holding me hostage as they have closed all their shops, nothing but a bunch of con artists that promise everything and fail miserably,
Mrs Bad attitude
Went into Middleton manchester on 28th October for eye tests both members of staff very helpful while we're about to spend money even applied discount of £20 and then told us the balance which we paid in full.
The glasses hadn't arrived 12 days and two visits later one member of staff decided to change from nice to nasty when we asked for a refund.
she told us with one very very bad attitude it could take 3/4 weeks and we could have a refund that however that was another matter.
Mistakenly we took their word on trust when we asked for a receipt and were told we didn't need one.
How when we got the refund the cash was £20 short what we had paid them
Mrs bad attitude told us she give us a £20 voucher even had the cheek to show us on the screen where it appeared we paid the full balance and then she deducted the voucher so she reduced the refund by the amount of the £20 voucher
If you need to go to this store to and buy lenses and frames please please please get a copy of the total bill before handing over any bank cards or cash
So your not paying for their voucher
Please insure you leave with a receipt
Very bad opticians, dont waste your money…
Had an eye test via zoom on a chair where my head wasn't balanced on the back of the chair . Lovely frames but the distance was totally wrong and had to take them back, she checked it again and sent them to be changed but when I picked Jedburgh them up I was still struggling. The arms of the glasses kept getting loose as well. I rang them, to be told they are closing down. I paid £200 back in April 23 ( 6 months ago) I've just been into my local optician who gave me another test and he said read the 3rd line up and it was blurred and he said that it was my prescription given by Brillen. Just spent another £350 for a prescription where I can see!!! Was very dangerous for night time driving!!. What a waste of my hard earned money!! No wonder they are closing down°
Refused a refund when the glasses did not work…
Purchase was May 18th 2023 After I was told that my purchase was covered if I wanted a refund within 2 weeks of getting the varifocals. When I did show up complaining that the glasses were causing me headaches I was refused a refund. Date 23/06/2023.
Update: 28/11/2023
Months later, the company that worked with Brillen to effect the scam against me and others is New vision opticians in Rayner Lane. They are now claiming they produced the glasses according to my requests when I did not perform an eye test on myself, New vision opticians did the eye test in their shop. I will mot let this go. I will go to the Ombudsman then to small claims court.

Are your Prescription Glasses and Sun Glasses Varifocals 'Top End' as your current £225 Summer offer 'states in black and white'.... OR NOT......Similarly are the frames cheap and nasty in the offer OR NOT.........
I ask these questions to ensure that I do not waste my time in obtaining a voucher after I booked an Appointment for this Friday, at your Brierley Hill Store (amid all of the closed down shops in that road ?).
This being because a friend of mine, finding out that I had booked an appointment under your offer, has just advised me not to go, after receiving his own new pairs of specs, that do not appear to be correct prescription wise, do not fit correctly, are DEFINATELY VERY LOW END VARIFOCALS TRANSITION, the frames seem very cheap compared to the similar looking ones he chose in store, and, he says that the one lens on for his one eye that requires the most correction, is about 10mm thick at the edge in both his prescription glasses and sunglasses, so looks ridiculous!!!!!!
If, I do not receive a response I will have no option but to take it that he is correct. Canceling my appointment.
having a disabilty is no excuse
Due to having to be rushed into hospital for a hip replacement, i was unable to go and collect my glasses for at least 6 weeks. Brillen would not send them to me as i havent had a "health assessment" basically they put the glasses on you and ask if they are ok. Joke of a company who also state they give a free eye test, which you cant get the results of unless they have done a "health check". Cancelled the order and wont be using ever again. If your disabled and cant attend , then there is ZERO chance of getting your glasses from them. Don't use unless you can get to them when they ask or they wont give you , your glasses.

Excellent service at Manchester store
I booked online from an offer code I saw on Facebook and the whole experience was excellent. I had a full assessment and eye examination performed by a friendly and professional optician. The manager of the Manchester store then helped me pick out the best varifocal glasses for me and I upgraded (for just £20 extra) to better pair including insurance. The glasses arrived about a week later and have been excellent ever since.
I will get all my glasses from there in the future.
Changed to using Brillen varifocal…
Changed to using Brillen varifocal lenses a couple of years ago, after trying, and not getting on with, much more expensive lenses from an independent optician. And now I’m due a new eye test, I don’t want to use any other lens. They’ve been fab for long hours in front of a computer mixed with reading paperwork. So went to the nearest Brillen branch, Middleton, Manchester, today to first check out the latest frames but also to check I could see an optician as I want to check on the health of my eyes. I found lots of frames to choose from and was able to book a slot with an optician. So, great service so far. I’ll review again when I’ve had my test and got my new glasses.
You get what you pay for
The glasses are cheap whatever you pay. Mine were £225 on a “deal". Furthermore it is not a complete eye test but done remotely via a zoom call. No glaucoma or other essential tests for eye health. This was not apparent from the advertising.
I am now having another test with a proper optometrist.
Don’t waste your money, eyes are too important.

What a shoddy service
Don't use Brillen Horley shoddy aftercare can't fit me in after 4pm for glasses Collection but could for appointment to do eye test so arranged refund tried to give me half instead of orivepaid absolute joke wasted weeks now got to start again wouldn't use ever again

So far very good indeed
So far very good. Went for my eye test and frames and lense choices at "All in One Eye Care" in the Whitgift Centre in Croydon. The optician who helped me (sorry, didn't get his name) was excellent at explaining all the options and pricing and I ended up buying 2 pairs of varifocals, one for driving (basic varifocal sunglasses at the advertised price of £59) and one top-end pair of transitional, titanium-framed, premium varifocal lenses with all the upgrade options for an incredibly good price given the specifications. The online digital eye test was exactly the same as an in-person test at a well-known high street brand which I have used previously for my glasses. The proof of the pudding will be when I get the glasses in a couple of weeks and the optician checks and sets them up for me. Clearly, I was initially attracted by the advertised offer and price online...but when the optician explained the other options I went for the better frames and lenses as the offer was really good. Basically a £1000+ set up of titanium frames + top end transitional varifocals with all the upgrades, for £249. I'll update this review when I get the glasses but so far, as it says on the tin! The advertised offer is for standard varifocals which have a smaller range of vision between long and short sight...same as other high street brands. It is definitely worth paying the extra for top end varifocal specification in my experience, especially if its your first time with varifocals which do take time to get accustomed to.
Excellent service at Middlesborough
Excellent service from the Middlesborough store. Booked our two appointments online and no waiting when we got there.
Returned two weeks later to collect our glasses and have final checks.
Both very pleased with our new glasses.
We both have varifocals and the all-in price is about the same as usual. This service is only suitable for people who are tech savvy, as it uses internet and apps, etc.
Excellent service
I got a quick appointment. Very friendly and professional staff. The eye check up was online, fast and futuristic. I was given professional guidance and advice to choose appropriate glasses for variofocus lenses.
Awful glasses couldn't get them right
Went to store in Coventry. Cannot fault lady running the store she is very helpful. That's the only positive. Had my first eye test and when the glasses arrived I could not see out of them at all. The prescription was completely wrong. So then I had to go through a whole new eye test. Felt rushed. They then sent this off for replacement lenses. When these arrived I had them posted out to me due work commitments as I really needed my new glasses as I am experiencing eye strain and headaches. The second pair were also no good. Vision was blurry with great areas in the lense with no vision at all despite getting the more expensive lens. My old glasses were still giving me a better vision. I am not continuing with this company and will be requesting a refund. I would not recommend them to anyone.
I cannot express how bad my experience…
I cannot express how bad my experience was. From not getting my test done right, redoing it, getting my reading prescription wrong, making lenses where the two lenses were different colours (white and yellow), the second pair were not polished. When I eventually gave up it took ages to get my money back.
They are sold as high grade German manufacturing. Not in my experience. DO NOT TOUCH WITH A BARGE POLE.
If it’s too good to be true it probably is
A remote eye test. Locked in a booth and tested via video call. Didn’t see any frames that I liked all rather cheap and tacky. When I asked for my prescription I was given an unacceptable excuse for not giving it to me. All in all I would not recommend this company
