Wonderful after care!

Steve @ Brillen Horley is an absolute gentleman!
I managed to damage my second pair of varifocals on a recent golf trip my first pair had already been knocked out of shape. Steve very kindly took a look at both pairs of Brillen varifocals and managed to get them as good as new. Keep up the good work and I will be back for my bi annual check up in December. I've got Vision Express and Specsavers much closer to me but I wouldn't go anywhere else!!!

Varifocals don’t work

Varifocals don’t work. Not worth what they charge. I paid £225 for cheap looking glasses with rubbish frame and they are wonky .

Terrible experience, should have gone to Specsavers

Terrible experience and do not be tempted by a low price. You g eet what you pay for. Was suppose to get two pairs of glasses but ended up with only one pair.

Initial consultation was not well explained and the optometrist sits in Germany. Well test went well and got two frames, one for work and one for home. Both same prescription. Choice of lenses were not explained properly at all.

After about 4 weeks got notification to collect glasses. This is where the nightmare really started. My wife tried on one pair and her vision was blurred around the edges. The shop manager said maybe your eyes will get use to it. We refused to take the glasses and was advised that we should see the optometrist, that was about 2 weeks down the line. Left with no glasses. Wife went back and was advised that the lenses is that way as she did not choose the wide view lenses. We’re given the option of changing this. Agreed to this and both pairs of glasses was sent off to Germany. About 3 weeks later my wife went to pick up the glasses. Was only given one pair and still had to pay in for the change of lenses. Was told that because she chose to change the lenses this changes the price so now can only get a single pair.

Over £220 later, only a single pair of glasses. Should have gone to Specsavers

627 Watford Way: Excellent customer service, Great quality glasses at affordable prices. Even offer free eye tests - all other major high street competitors charge around £25. I would highly recommend.

after having bad experiences at various…

after having bad experiences at various eye test centres in Blackburn eg Specsavers & Vision Express, i decided to try this store, being new and recommended. i went 2 weeks ago, and served by a white female adviser who was very nice. think she was called Lindsey? she treated me with empathy, dignity and excellent customer service. so i had an appointment today (31.05.2023). got there in time, actually 5 minutes before my appointment. it was the same female adviser but she was serving someone for 10 mins or more, which was ok, but what let me down was she was the only one there and there was more people coming in, possible appointments? Lindsey straight away was off with me, unsure why, not a sincere apology, i think i only said how long was the eyetest because i had to be back from my lunch. anyways didn't realised it was a virtual camera appointment by the optometrist, which quite put me off. i thought it would be a hands on face to face, but felt quite rushed with the test. i didn't think Lindsey was off with the other people waiting to be served. I wont be coming back here again for an eyetest. the whole experience really put me off and let me down.

Do not be fooled with the advertising!!

Thought I'd get a excellent service when i visited a swish and professional opticians office in Central London and the opticians service whilst being tested. After a few months a line appeared in each of the lense. After extensive calls as the opticians I was measured in claimed they no longer had any dealings with brillen , I managed to get a reply from head office only to claim that they were probably damaged by myself even though I stressed that the lines were identical in each lense. They still refused and now I have to get a second pair
DO NOT use them they seem cheaper and they work out roughly the same as the more established opticians!!! I should have walked away once I was quoted a price way higher then was advertised.

Great service in Huddersfield

I cannot fault the whole experience of buying my glasses from the Huddersfield store. Meghan was very friendly and professional explaining everything. My varifocals arrived in the estimated time of 10days and fitted perfect. I will definitely purchase again and would recommend to anyone.

Amateur hour

Turned up at the Brillian shop for my appointmen.They had the shutters down for lunch! The Slope up to the shop was full of litter! went in for my eye test,they couldn't get the equipment to work! stood there for 10 minutes.Asked about the Steiner glasses,how much they were! £300 odd pounds she replied,I said they are advertised for £129! Oh she said that's the other Steiners! I had enough and walked out.Dissapointing because I visited Brillian on the Coventry road in 2021 and bought glasses there and all went well.

Apprehensive visit to Middleton store…

Apprehensive visit to Middleton store (UK) on 8-04-2023 thought I would give Brillen a go..
Exam done glasses chosen and payment made..
21-04-2023 arranged to pick up glasses..
Wrong prescription...
Wrong colour...
03-05-2023... Asked for a refund.
Wish I had gone to ....( You know the rest).

They refuse to give my glasses after I paid for them

Everything done fine, but now, because I can't get to the shop before 4:30pm on a Wednesday, they are just refusing to hand in my glasses, which I paid for. No flexibility, either you go when they say or you lose your money. Luckily, I only paid for the cheapest glasses, otherwise I could have lost a considerable amount or I would have to ask for time off just to collect the glasses. As it is, I will have to go to Specsavers and do another eye test.

UPDATE> they did send an email a couple of days later and offered a suitable appoinment. All went well, I am happy with the service and glasses

I visited the Middleton Brillen store…

I visited the Middleton Brillen store as I was overdue an eye test and I had noticed the deals advertised. The staff were extremely helpful and explained the two different options for having my eyes tested. The eye examination was thorough and the optician went through all of the results. My varifocal prescription had changed and the staff were extremely helpful with advice about choosing my frames (the part I dread the most). I went for the Steiner lenses - I wanted the reassurance of a quality, hard wearing lens as I wear my glasses all of the time. The staff went above and beyond to find me the best deal and within a couple of weeks I had them. So far I have been very happy with my glasses, they are light weight, the field of vision is wider than my previous pair and although I had to nip back to the shop to get the arms altered slightly, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. I am extremely pleased with the quality of the product, the Steiner lenses and the service I have received, I would not hesitate to recommend Brillen to others.

After sales service Wow

My spectacle frames broke and I phoned Brillen Middlesbrough who went out of their way to find me the exact same frames in Huddersfield and have had these glasses refitted today 20/04/2023 at no charge for the frames or the fitting! Outstanding after sales service from the staff at Middlesbrough. Well done.

Appalling service from start to finish

Appalling service from start to finish. I had to wait 45 minutes for the connection to an optician whom I believe was in India. No checking of eye health, etc. No face to face interaction with the optician and the end result was that the prescription is way inaccurate (compared to an accurate one that I had received 14 weeks earlier from AN Other optician). I only knew this after placing the order as no copy of the prescription is offered until you have placed the order. Avoid like the plague

Update. I have emailed four times now following the request from Brillen. Nothing in response!!! Very very unprofessional and in my opinion the worst opticians on the high street

Was not too sure about using a new…

Was not too sure about using a new company but I was extremely impressed with the service and the glasses.

Sales team gave me all the time and space I needed to go through the all the options available while being there to answer any questions and give me their input.

An optician sitting in Germany checked my vision remotely, which was quite the novel experience.

Eye doctor gave my eyes a quick once over and I was out in half an hour from the time I walked in.

Got my glasses earlier than promised and at 60% of what I normally pay for my glasses with high index lenses and all the bells and whistles. (if you wear glasses with the power I have, it normally works out to quite a bit)

Would definitely recommend them and most certainly go back to them the next time.

Have used these 3 times now, never again

Have used these 3 times now, each time it takes forever for your glasses to arrive after you have had your initial eye test and ordered them. They are nearly impossible to get in touch with and their customer service is terrible. If you have a poor experience once, sometimes these things happen, but this is repeated poor experience and as such, I will not ever be using this company again. For reference, this is the branch in Halifax, West Yorkshire
