I sceptically booked an eye test…
I sceptically made an eye test appointment in Hadleigh Essex, via a Facebook advert, not expecting much as we can all be drawn in by clever marketing.
How wrong was I, as Brillen turned out to be great for my eye test and selection of glasses, The best I have ever experienced.
No pushy sales like I have previously experienced at Specsavers or Boots (I began to dread having my eyes tested as I knew that I would have to make a dash to the exit door, armed with my prescription, to miss the pressurised selling.)
I was so impressed with the friendly atmosphere, thorough eye test and non-pushy approach by staff. I felt relaxed and wanted to look and select from the spectacles on display.
Instead of wanting to run, I chose a pair of specs straight away and was fully informed about the choices of lenses and options open to me.
I paid my deposit and eagerly waited for my new specs to be ready for me to pick up.
I was not disappointed, my new stylish specs are fantastic! So clear and great quality frame.
Thank you Steve and Ross at Hadleigh Essex branch of Brillen for your excellent friendly and professional customer service. Such a pleasure to shop with you guys. I will continue to recommend.
I love my Brillen specs so much (price and style) that I returned and brought another two pairs of varifocal lense glasses, one funky pair and one sunglasses.
Top notch quality at affordable prices!

I WAS UNABLE TO GIVE NO STARS SO I GAVE ONE. I returned the glasses after realizing that their varifocals were not working. The spectacle store in Brierley Hill Dudley tried to persuade me into keeping them but after a few days I was forced into returning them as they were compromising my job. The store has been very unhelpful and unfriendly in helping me get a refund then both Brillen and the store said I was not entitled to a refund under the £49. 00 deal in-spite of the fact that I paid over £200.00 and at the first meeting i was explicitly told that it was a money back guarantee scheme.

My appointment was for 4pm at the Chatham store, but lack of staff and issues with their computer system just made it a nightmare, it's 7pm and I'm still waiting for text message to finalise my appointment, the sales assistant was just faffing around trying to deal with 4 people at the same time, I don't blame him it's Brillen trying to run the business on a shoestring, there is no way I'm going back

Stay away!!!!.If you had minus star that's will be my rate .I went for my broken glasses 6 January in their store I paid online for them.Today is 17March and still no news about my glasses.I went to the store they didn't have any idea my broken glasses was still there .Biggest scam ever onlestly I don't know what to do .I whatsapp them through their website no answer.I try to the livechat it's always not available even the hours it ment to work .

Read this before being mislead by their deal!
I rarely write reviews but I felt I had to do one for this company. During my Google search, I came across this company and first thing that caught my eye on their website was “Quality glasses – now in a last minute deal for only £49 (varifocals) and £9 (Single vision) with free eye test included” I felt that this was too good to be true. I made an appointment with their branch in Harrow (New Vision). Four days before attending the appointment I spoke to them on their live chat and they referred me to their instagram to see their “classic collection frames” these are the cheapest frames that you can get from their offer. There were not a single post about classic collection frames out of their more than 350 posts! I messaged them on their instagram and no one bothered to reply as to what their classic frames look like! Anyways, I attended the appointment on time and I was told that I have to first select the frame, type of the lens and type of the coating and pay for it before I get my free eye test! Up until then I said Ok and I politely asked from the person who never introduced himself to me to show me their frame ranges and I specifically asked for their classic collection frames, he told me that the frames where of Gold colour and they are called classic collection frames (the cheapest). He left me to look at the frames that were around 200 of them. To my surprise, I only found 3 frames that where Gold coloured and they were all female frames and to be honest even an elderly lady wouldn’t fancy any of them. They were made of absolutely cheap material and no where looking like the photo they have in their deal. I asked do you have any male frames he replied that this is all we have and I left their clinic. This was a complete waste of my time. This company is a complete joke, they put their attractive and completely misleading statements on their website and they do their best to get you to their shop and first thing they ask you is to pay them even before you have a “free eye test” and before knowing whether you need glasses or not in the first place! Isn’t this a joke?! I am going to book my eye test with a reliable company and pay for it, at least I know what to expect.

This company is a big rip off! The free eye test is a massive scam, my wife went on their Coventry store to find out that all they wanted to do was selling their lens and frames and the test was not free but offered in certain conditions. You have all been warned!

I tried Brillen opticians in Horley…
I tried Brillen opticians in Horley (surrey) as opposed to the main line branded high street opticians and I found the whole experience very smooth and easy to navigate
Steve in the horley branch was very approachable and accommodating helping me choose frames and guiding me through the process which included a virtual eye examination which actually worked very well and professional
Once I choose my glasses I was given a lead time of two weeks for my glasses to be made and shipped to the UK
They actually arrived early and Steve was extremely accommodating working around my schedule so that i could collect my glasses before o started work in London
Very happy positive experience

Excellent opticians- great customer service
I visited the Middlesbrough branch in early February and was lucky enough to be offered a cancellation there and then.
The initial eye test was done remotely by using a headset and machine. The optician went very slow and made sure my results were accurate.
Afterwards I was shown a selection of glasses and finishes by Sean who is very helpful.
Less than 2 weeks later I got a call from the store to say my glasses were ready and I was booked in for the second part of my eye test.
The second part of the test is done in store by an optician. Rebecca was the optician that day and she was lovely. Very patient and very thorough.
In fact it was one of the best eye tests I have received
During the eye test, Sean kept a close eye on my father who has Dementia, he has a tendency to move off on his own in his wheelchair and he did and Sean informed me immediately (how good is that for customer service)
The prescription glasses were really good, well fitted, lightweight and appear to be very good quality.
I got 2 pairs of readers the basic ones only cost £9 and 2 pairs of varifocals, one of them was sunglasses.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this opticians

Hi my personal experience I was given wrong prescriptions after waiting 2 weeks I emailed them to change my prescription to my old one no response from head office local branch rang me to book another appointment to see optician after 2 weeks than again I have to wait another 2 weeks for my glasses so 1 month for wait even they made mistake.

Great experience from start to finish
I really enjoyed the Brillen experience. I have a great pair of glasses with top quality lenses, for a fraction of the price of vision express etc. The ‘virtual’ optician worked well and the ‘actual optician’ was there when I picked up my glasses to do final checks. The only reason I haven’t given 5 stars is that it took nearly 4 weeks for my glasses to arrive and that is longer than I expected. Everything else was great!

No customer service. On behalf of my 76 year old father who…
On behalf of my 76 year old father who visited the Brierley Hill branch First appointment, treated well and left very pleased after a positive experience and was recommending to everyone.
Second appointment, told to put his payment details into a “machine” with no instructions or support. While 3 members of staff stood talking. No option to pay cash and was patronised by the staff member when he tried to explain his attempts at using their “machine” was unsuccessful, by her telling him he couldn’t have his glasses if he “couldn’t pay”!! He could pay but due to her lack of customer service skills they lost a customer. Perhaps training is required as common sense and compassion is definitely missing. So if you like being treated like excrement please use Brillen Brierley Hill.

Just went to an appointment for eye…
Just went to an appointment for eye test in Middleton with a view to £49 varifocals ( spare pair only ) Drove 15 miles and walked out within 5 mins. Choice of frames could be counted on fingers of one hand and whilst I accept these would be spare, let’s just say I would rather do without. Apparently reason is “they all the frames have been sold” with no sign of further stock. Suggest if you are travelling it would be worth checking if they have any stock in for the offer you want. Plenty of stock at the higher prices though..,,,

Fooling people…
This company has been fooling people around on social media completely. I had an appointment at Slough branch yesterday and it was complete waste of time and fuel. They say that two pair of glasses with varifocal lenses are available at the price of £85. When I went there the sales person 'Sunil' only showed me a bunch of frames ( I think 10-12 at the max ) and said that these are only available. Those were either ladies frames or kids frames. It's just a stupid idea of getting customers to the store and sell them expensive stuff. Those 10 pairs are just to show that they have that deal. Strongly advice that don't get into the trap.
