They sent a letter regarding a vehicle that was sold over 2 months ago to my elderly relatives address meant for my partner. Can I also add this car was NEVER registered to this address. Claiming it was because it was untaxed.
This is the first we have ever heard of it and had never had prior contact from DVLA to inform us of a fine. The apparent ‘offence’ happened in March but it is now September and this is the first we are hearing of it. It was a joint car used by both of us. Neither of us were ever pulled over by the police regarding tax either. We also have bank statements and evidence that the vehicle was taxed whilst in our possession.
Any fines I have forgotten about or paid late I have always received prior contact from the original company. The fact that this is the first I’m hearing of this, and it’s gone to an address of a family member and not my address where the car was actually registered at screams dodgy to me.
Please be careful and fact check against bank statements and information before paying and be wary. To be sending it to my elderly relative (no relation to my partner who the letter was addressed to) is absolutely disgusting Will be reporting to be investigated as fraud

It is unbelievable that companies like this exist in 2026.
I get a text saying I need to contact Capital Resolve. Something about DVLA, but absolutely no details.
If I genuinely owe money, why not send me a letter, or tell me what I owe money for? They wanted me to share my personal details with them (why should I? They seem completely untrustworthy) before they'd share details of the issue with me. What an utter shambles!
I called the number and they couldn't even tell me roughly what sort of issue this related to. Do I owe tax, a parking fee, or have I committed some other sin? Did I once put a traffic cone on the head of a statue? No idea.
I have asked them to take my number off their file. If I've done something really wrong, a proper company can get in touch with me in a proper way that doesn't sound like a scam... then I'll co-operate.

Harassment over something that is nothing to do with me!
These clowns will not leave me alone. They only want £80 because the DVLA say I owe them for car tax. Thing is I don’t own the car they say it’s for. I do know the car is scrapped but yet they say it’s in my name. I have proof but they want pictures. It’s easy for me to send pictures but for some stupid reason in 2026 they want me to reply with a written letter so photos would need to be printed. I have proved to capital resolve this but they are only bothered about what the dvla say.
Really I would like them to try to do this in court so I can prove them wrong and then sue them for wasting my time and harassing me!
They seem to be a scam company that believes I own them something!

One star isn’t bad enough, if I could give no stars, that still wouldn’t be bad enough, Capital Resolve are just there to scam people out of money! They mithered me for weeks, keep phoning me and when I managed to get to it on time it just put me through to a automated message, which then cut you off, I then phoned them and got through to the snottiest woman there could of been who informed me it wasn’t my name on the form and they’d take me of their calling list, then they started on my husband and did the exact thing to him only telling him he owed them money, they wanted to know our present address, how long we’d lived here, when he said 30+ years they wanted to know our previous address which he wouldn’t tell them, they kept asking for our reference number, which we didn’t have because we didn’t owe any money! then the snotty woman said she’d take him off the calling list.
So please stay away from them, make sure you ask questions and don’t pay them anything. They are just SCAMMERS trying to find someone vulnerable!!!!

This shambles of a company contacted me saying I owed money to OVO even though I’d just received a large refund from them. Capital constantly hounded me saying it needed paying. I sent them an email explaining the situation and that it must be wrong due to this refund. Never had any response apart from multiple phone calls. Funny that you can message & call me every day, however can’t respond to an email :)
I’ve paid the amount off because it just caused me stress. I don’t ever want to hear from you again. Take me off your list and go hound someone else

Beware of this company. When you ring the number it comes up as potential fraud (not a good sign). The phone just rings out then you have the option of a call back by pressing 1 on the keypad and then they don't call back. Why do companies employ a bunch of potential cowboys is beyond me.

Have just received a letter June 2026 for £80 fine for a vehicle I don’t own anymore which was sold last year in July/aug 2025 don’t know why I’m getting a letter now if it was real company surly I would of been made aware ASAP! The car was SORNED and DVLA was aware when car was sold to. The dates don’t add up saying date of offence 1/10/25. The tax on car was fully paid till NOV 2025 on that car. SCAMMERS trying to get money good try.

Would give no stars if I could.
Chasing an Ovo debt that doesn't exist everything they do is automated - emails, phone calls, letters. It is impossible to speak to them. Even when you email the contact email they give they take no notice. They just keep on spamming.
They have now replied claiming to have responded to my emails. I have never received this response and it is not in my spam folder. And they keep on spamming me with further emails and texts claiming I owe them money which I do not. Sorry but responding on Trustpilot like this is performative window dressing when you keep on sending the same spam.

What an absolute shower of poo this…
What an absolute shower of poo this company is. Iam trying to sort a debt that I have somehow ended up with. I get a email from them saying please call the office. I try calling them 12 times in 2 days and end up on hold for 30-45 minutes each time waiting for an agent to answer. But all I get is cut off. They strike me as a cowboy bully company that I can’t believe dvla is using.

I have received multiple text messages addressed to “John Street” regarding an alleged outstanding DVLA penalty fine, asking me to contact Capital Resolve. I do not know anyone by that name and I do not have any outstanding payments due to the DVLA.
The repeated messages are now becoming excessive and feel close to harassment. It is also concerning to receive unsolicited texts of this nature without any prior verification or attempt to contact the correct person. Messages like this can appear highly suspicious and potentially resemble phishing, which may cause unnecessary distress, particularly for vulnerable individuals or those with anxiety.

My name is Ben, I dont know a Claire Welsh nor do I drive. Pretty dodgy of them to just send out a text like that without trying to call first. Feels like a phishing scam, receiving a message like that out of the blue can be pretty harmful and distressing to people with anxiety/vulnerable people. It feels like they don't care how they affect others as long as they can get some money.

Which one: scam or bully?
Awful company and awful service. I received a letter in the post telling me I owed OVO energy £76 and threats that it will affect my credit score if I didn’t pay. I don’t even have/ never had an account with OVO Energy.
The only thing I could think of was my old flat, since OVO supplied us there, but our bill (and OVO Account) were solely in my ex-flat mate’s name (who was in charge of our energy bill at the time). She never received a similar letter from Capital Resolve, but showed me our old OVO account which still confirms that we had settled our final bill.
My current flat doesn’t use energy provided by OVO nor did I have any other previous ones that did. I tried to contact OVO Energy separately but returned with nothing AS I DON’T HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM.
Capital Resolve’s phone number is completely obsolete, solely stating various emails to write to before cutting itself off. No chance at talking to a real person.
I wrote an email to their dispute inbox and haven’t heard back. Saw you could also raise a dispute if you created an account with them, so I tried. It asks for your case number and surname, and once entered, tells you due to data handling they can’t process creating an account, and refer you to call their obsolete phone number - how convenient.
Absolutely brain dead service and I find it disgusting how intentionally difficult they make it to contact them, cornering people to make a payment when they feel pressured about the potential threats to their credit history. One bully of a service.

SCAM - they have been harassing me with calls and texts regarding a dental debt for a man who I have never heard of.
I keep deleting and blocking these numbers but everyday, its a new one!
