Unbelievable that I fell for this. Paid £14 for Birmingham clean air zone and have now received a penalty notice from Birmingham City Council. As other people have said, it appeared at the top of Google search and I never usually fall for this type of scam so I'm really annoyed with myself.

Thought I had paid my clean air charge, only to receive a penalty notice charge from Birmingham Council in the post today. I now need to go through the hassle of trying to contest the charge. I'm usually good at spotting a scam but this one caught me out, top of the Google search results. Fingers crossed the council waivers my fine 🤞

Scam site - sits at the top of google search for clean air zone charges - paid £14 for what I thought was emission charges for driving in to Birmingham.

This is a scam website that appears at the top of the google search. They charged me £14 to enter Birmingham low emissions zone, when a later check on the legitimate council site showed that my car was compliant and I did not need to pay anything. Thieving crooks.

Shocked about how a scammer can put this website on top of google search results and Birmingham council knows about this and turns a blind eye.

No chance to pay those obnoxious scammers, will use bank process to report fraud and get the money back!

SCAM SITE. Checked this website which advised I was liable for a £14 charge for travelling through Bath's clean air zone. I made payment online. Sadly I should have looked into it more closely.

Using the gov.uk & Bath council websites, I can now see that I am in fact not liable for any charge.

The site uses Nochex.com for payment processing.
Looking at their Trustpilot page, I see a lot of people misdirecting their anger at Nochex.com in relation to this scam/fraud.

As far as I can see, Nochex are simply the agent the scammers use to facilitate the processing of payments.

I have reported Cleanairzones.online to the ActionFraud website.

Birmingham clean air zone is the biggest scam going. The government are taxing the poor to death. I drove in at 4pm and I knew my car wasn’t compliant so I paid on the day. I left just after midnight. It didn’t state on the signs the times. So they charged me twice I didn’t know about it until I got a letter. Saying pay within 14 days and it’s 60 quid. So I contested It. It states on their website that if you contest it they won’t add more charge on top. Well today they rejected it and now I have to pay 120 quid. We the British people need to rise up and stop the government doing this to us

Money grabbing scheme that does nothing for the air quality of London

We all know it's bs, Big green money tax.

London underground is very toxic 10 times above khant's minimum air Quality but on streets it's way below his target. Been tested many times.

Just a money making scam, does not affect pollution at all. Paying money do drive in an area never can reduce pollution, while all the time busses are driving around with diesel engines, planes are flying overhead and ships roam the seas

Birmingham clean air zone is a huge scam! I bought a vehicle which has £0 charge for Birmingham caz. I then bought a plate of the dvla and applied it to the vehicle. Since applying the private plate I have been getting numerous fines from Birmingham caz and after appealing and showing then evidence they still rejected my appeal so now I have to appeal again and waste numerous hours. You ain't getting a penny out of me. My vehicle is compliant. You cant say that a change of registration has altered the emissions of the vehicle you spastics. See you in court if need be

Clean air zone is the biggest scam of 2023. We pay tax to buy our vehicle, tax on insurance then we have to pay road tax on our heavily taxed vehicle, then we have to pay more heavy tax on the fuel to run our heavily tax paying vehicle, then we have to pay tax on labour and parts when they go wrong.

And now to top it of as if that was not enough, they bring the biggest scam of 2023… Clean air zone, £69 paid to the scum that run the country on the most idiotic made up scandal for a area section where they state there must be clean air 😂 but after the clean air zone it’s totally fine there’s no harm then right? It’s about time we all wake up to our rights and not let them keep you asleep like they do. #standup #awaken

I was not aware or seen the tiny sign they put on the roads, for clean air zone
and I did not have the option or warning sent,
2 weeks after I got the £120 plus £9 charge
what the hell is the £120 for?
everyone should get the option to pay the £9.00 and a letter, not the full amount bill,
I was not even in the city, i was on the outskirts on the M606.
