TERRIBLE SERVICE - Booked a phone appointment- they did not ring. Rescheduled and they did not ring- I called and they weren’t expecting my call.
Lady did my tax anyway, I signed and was told 2 weeks for the refund to come through. One month later and no word. Called the call centre to follow up - they couldn’t even see if the return had been lodged and I was told to wait two days for a call back. After waiting two days with no response, I called again and was told to wait another two days for a call back as another escalation had been lodged. I asked for a refund for the work and to speak to a manager- neither of which the call centre were able to arrange, stating I would have to discuss this with the Merrylands branch when they find the time to call me back. I have been with H&R block for many years but would not recommend them anymore.

After moving to the UK, I discovered that my taxes were more complicated than I originally assumed. I already knew it would be difficult. After trying to do it myself, I looked into this H&R Block Expat Tax service. I signed up but the Tax Advisor I was assigned was the worst possible interaction. He asked me questions using abbreviated and inaccurate language. I had to ask so many times for clarification but never received a proper response. After submitting my information and several messages back and forth using the H&R Block messaging system, I decided this was not worth the hassle. I then indicated to the Tax Advisor that I was considering moving on since my questions were not answered. I did not receive a proper response, instead I received a message that my tax return was ready and I needed to pay the invoice. This was despite the fact that the Tax Advisor was still asking for other documents. So for me, there is no way my Tax Return could be complete if information was still needed. The communication during this time was horrible, was delayed. It took several days to receive a response for each message I sent. There is no way to escalate the issues to someone else or contact H&R Block directly. This was a horrible customer experience. I should have read the reviews on Trustpilot first before signing up and giving up my private personal information.

Unprofissional, lack the experiance beiond simple filing of W-2 and doing what the computer tells them. No accountent or people that know how to file proper ammanded return.

Tried to use the expat service. They asked for all my information and documents, and then several days went by without hearing from them. I called and wrote but no one answered my messages. Eventually, I logged in to their portal and got a message stating my specialist was too busy and that someone else would handle my taxes. By then, so much time had passed that I had to file for an extension for the first time in my life. I cancelled the service given the lack of response and the fact that no one even had the courtesy to talk to me. All I got from them was copy/pasted messages. It was like dealing with a poorly-staffed call center that happens to handle sensitive information. Utterly unprofessional.

Unlike last year, I unfortunately needed a tax pro this year. My tax pro was very quick to do my taxes so it made the process less stressful. However, the price was outrageous. I paid almost $300 for filing. If the price was more economical, I would give them a higher rating.

If I could give less stars I would. I had everything broken down, so all they had to do was enter it line by line on the form. It's taken them 2 weeks. Then they send me an email that it's time to review my return. SO, I go in to review it, and I can't see it until they want me to way $500 first. So, they are holding my tax return hostage until I pay their overpriced ridiculous charges. They refuse to allow a coupon code, and they don't return emails or messages. I will never go back to them again. I always had great dealings with H&R when I lived in California, but I don't know what has happened to them in KY.

This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a company. I don't use the word "bumbling" a lot but it's the best way to describe the person preparing my taxes. He could barely read, typed with his index fingers, and routinely forgot things that I had told him minutes ago, including my employment status, state of residence, and the specific things I needed done with my taxes. I can not trust a company that will hire people I can't trust with something as important as taxes. I still think Tubro Tax is a scam but I can trust an over paid robot over someone who takes an hour and a half and to get my name and address right.

Their ad: "Upfront transparent pricing means you won't be surprised by the price of tax prep at the end." Hoo, Hah! Guess again! This was my first experience with them and I won't be going back. I checked out their listed prices on their website. I have less than $25,000 total income, including social security and some market garden income (think selling fresh berries in season) on a self-totalling spreadsheet. That means besides the plain tax form there's 1 extra page required with very few entries. I pay no taxes during the year, I owe no taxes, and I get no refund. The only reason I still file is fear of the IRS.
The price listed on the website to do this was $160. After the forms were finished, their billing system rang up this job at $435. Then I had to argue about the advertised price which was what got me in their door. Bottom line--the preparer was a nice person and did a good job, but there ain't no "upfront transparent pricing"; you're going to get a real big, real expensive surprise at the end. And I'm not going to count on being able to argue them back to their advertised price.

The agent lied to me, acted like I was stupid, and was very incompetent at their job.

Decent experience with a helpful rep. You have to have reasonable expectations of course because this is a huge national chain and the employees are all junior accountants. Perfect for simple needs

Don't waste your time or your money. While the online platform was easy enough to use, I received very confusing and inadequate advice from the advisor. The communication about my questions was very poorly handled and in the midst of asking questions about which exclusion to take as an expat, they kept changing my status without any instruction from me to make the changes. It was extremely stressful and confusing. No one would contact me by phone either to discuss the matter despite my request to speak to someone several times. Further, the calculations they provided for me differed from those of the IRS, meaning I did not end up paying enough tax and was fined. They have been astonishingly difficult in the communications in an attempt to understand the discrepancies. Overall simply horrendous service.

I have had a horrible experience with them! I got charged a lot for my taxes to be done properly and they were not. I had asked them to do my American and Canadian taxes. The one professional who did my taxes did not know how to do American taxes when I also have canadian money. If he didn’t know how to do then tell me they can’t. Not try to do it and get me to make an amended return where I’m waiting 20 weeks to get my money. Now I owe the IRS over $500 of money I don’t have until my amended return is filed

Tax software for US is broken, it does not differentiate between spouses data, stamping documents with the incorrect name and SSN's. There is no fix, overriding the data prevents one from filing and therefore your left with and extension and wasting more time and $ to fix the problem. Chat help directs you to the paid help service, previously the agent indicated that the software had bugs that had not been addressed yet and won't be fixed in time for filing. Try another avenue, its not worth the aggravation to use this application.
