ADDENDUM: A living human finally responded by correcting the chip number without me having to take Jaxson to get scanned again. That's a problem with auto-generated email responses. The canned responses often don't address the problem. They earned more stars now.
ORIGINAL POST BELOW
I'm going to Europe with my cat in the spring. Europe requires a 15 digit chip and rabies shot for travel. I asked the vet to put in a 15 digit chip because Home Again's records show a 14 digit number. However, the vet scanned his chip and found it to have the required 15 digits. The Home Again records were missing a zero in the middle. The vet gave me a certificate of rabies vaccination showing the correct scanned 15 digit number.
I contacted Home Again by phone and the man I spoke to was very helpful. He submitted a request to correct the error
Then I received an email from the company saying that I would have to take my pet back to the vet, have him scanned again, and take a photograph of the scanner. This shouldn't be necessary, since a licensed veterinarian scanned him and documented in a signed legal document that the correct number has 15 digits, not the 14 digits that home again shows. I responded that an additional scan shouldn't be necessary because my cat is frightened by having to go to the vet and being in a cat carrier.
I received a second email from home again, exactly identical to the first one, saying again that I must take my cat to a vet or a shelter to have him scanned again and photograph the scanner.
So bottom line, this company is deliberately keeping my pet's ID number incorrect in their records so that if he is ever lost and is scanned, they won't be able to locate him because their records show 14 digits and his chip has 15 digits. What good is their service if they won't correct an obvious error?

The tech answered all my questions and went beyond to give me another resource. She calmed my fears and saved me from an expensive trip to the vet. This is a valuable resource.

Total scam. You're still totally on your own. If I ever find my pet I'm sure they will take credit for it. Don't waste your money.
Follow up. Cat returned on its own. No help from home again.

My cat got out and then we're very helpful in helping me post his location and also provided a poster which was very helpful.

My pet was actually reported stolen. Home again actually allowed the person who committed the theft to change the microchip number into there name. Never even contacted me. So when Animal Control went to recover the pet, the chip came back to them. And now the pet has been moved.

Home Again made it incredibly easy to find our missing German Short Haired pointer. After missing for a full day and night we were panicking. Within 45 minutes of figuring out how to set up an account, post a pic and voila, someone commented they had seen our dog that morning. We quickly used e bikes to navigate the mountains near our home and found our curious guy in the bushes scoping out birds. Thank you to Home Again for helping us in our frantic pursuit to retrieve our beauty!!

I’m giving a three star because I have yet to have any issues except that when my pet was lost ( she is now at home on my lap) it only alerted animal control instead of also sending a message out to animal hospital and shelters because it’ll work better if they did let them know but it proves to be helpful if someone returns your pet and I also haven’t gotten anything about a payment like the others said they did, they might’ve clicked on something because this is my second year having my cat microchipped and no issues here. Also I’m adding this due to the reply but animals hospital and shelters were not alerted in my area and I know this for a fact because I made a call to the animal hospitals and the shelters and they had no clue my animal was missing I don’t know if they are not checking to see if they’ve been alerted or just wasn’t at all, this should definitely be fixed due to a lot of people returning animals to hospital are might even try to keep the animals

Home Again chip placed by my vet. Now after reading these reviews I am worried that will not be helpful if dog gets lost. Also sounds like if you register with them and pay for a 'premium' that scammers somehow get the info and pounce on you. Wonder if my vet aware of all these bad reviews.

They helped me find my dog in less than 48 hours. I am so glad that I have them. I’m glad that I have neighbors and friends that have Home again.

I received a call and email that somebody in another state had found my cat, who to my knowledge was still in my house. Obviously, I panicked, thinking that she had gotten out of my house somehow and a woman in a completely different state was currently in possession of her. When I called that woman, she stated that she had found a dog, not a cat, and that someone else must have my cat and they mixed up the numbers. I called HomeAgain and the representative basically confirmed that this woman didn't have my cat, but they didn't know where she was and instructed me to try to calm down. When I finally got ahold of my neighbor, they were able to look in my bedroom window and saw my cat and confirmed she was at home. Had the worst hour of my life at work trying to figure out how my cat ended up missing in California when she had been in my apartment in Washington two hours prior as I left for work. Terrifying and confusing. I hope the person whose dog was found is reached out to eventually... If my cat actually Had been missing and I'd gotten that email only to end up with this dead end, I can't imagine how devastated and disappointed I would've been. I know this was probably just a clerical error/typo and isn't any one person's fault, but I wish the microchip company had confirmed the type of animal/gender of animal with the woman who found it before they emailed/called me as HomeAgain knows my pet is a female cat and the woman had found a male dog. This experience could've been avoided.

This didn’t help us find our dog. We live in a rural area and there are not enough people around to see this. Will not be renewing premium service.

Some folks say this is a borderline scam. I say it is a FULL SCAM. They sent me an email that they charged me for the year for 2 dogs and yet, I can't find the amount nor the credit card they used. When I contacted them about 5 times via their "customer service" site, all I got was a scam about buying services--no help whatso ever for their "24/7" services. Their phone number only brings you to the non-helpful information and they keep sending me emails saying my password will be reset. Okay folks--let's get them for what they are doing!!!! Can you imagine trying to contact them if there is a REAL emergency?

This edges on borderline scam. I was exposed to 4 scammers in a 2 day span, all claiming to have my “lost pet”. They all played the same script of paying $100-$150 to have my pet returned. Not only does HomeAgain try to nickle and dime you during a stressful time($100+ for a “front page ad is ludicrous” you’re not Google…
HomeAgain is also a hunting ground for scammers to take advantage of people who are desperate.
When your pet gets lost there are many places you want to go to get the word spread. I would not recommend HomeAgain. Its “network” does not target nearby neighbors who are likely to call in information regarding your pet. You’re more likely to hear back worthwhile community feedback on apps like NextDoor/Ring.
Instead it publishes potentially private information to a large network of unvetted people, some of which may be trying to capitalize on people’s lost animals which is cruel.
HomeAgain please do something about this.

Absolutely not helpful at all. I found the area where my cat was and they said it was up to me to try to get her back, that I was on my own. Rather than try to send someone with a trap to help me out. I did get her back, but not because Home Again helped, because my NEIGHBOR did for free. This company is a joke. There's no sense in using a company that does nothing but report your pet missing for you. Why even microchip them? Waste of time, money, and energy. Screw them.

My chip was put in my Shepard by my Vet for my other rescue dog. I've cancelled the debit card due to the reviews I've seen and the company jeeps trying to Bill me. I've tried to cancel the subscription and it not going thru.. I've now changed Vets for both rescues.

I called last year and signed up, paid. Then I received a letter from an attorney about this company and received a settlement because this is not an acceptable need to register your animals chip. It's already registered when it's done by your vet. Today I receive a charge out of my account again by HomeAgain! I did not authorize this transaction yet here you are taking it out. I did not call to register my animal again but you took it out again this year. I cannot find a number to call anyone. What a scam company as the attorney letter I have states you are as well. Disputing and ordering a new card is a hassle but scammers at their finest keep us doing this time and time again!!! Have the day you deserve!

No 800# to actually speak to a person, though they brag about 24/7 support at web-site. Heaven help you if you actually lose a pet and would like to generate a poster to plaster your neighborhood. Do the pricey pet tags have information on the back side? Who know, web-site does not show this. Can you update your new address and have the system actually save it? I don't think so...as I have to keep putting it in the system. Wow. Company collects $20 a person/pet and this is what we have to show for it? :(
