Wouldn't reccomend

Following the solar panels and battery insulation at my property on 6th August 2025 I write this review to express my total dissatisfaction with the outcome.

On completion I asked the installer if any tiles had been damaged or broken during the process, he assured me that all was well and there no damaged tiles, however, this proved to be a blatant lie on his behalf. I notified NEX on the 9th August of the damage to my roof and the theft of proprty from my garage, I received a reply from Michael Britcher asking for photo evidence which was subsequently provided on the 12th August. 8 Working days passed with no reply from Michael which lead to me contacting them again.

The layout of the solar panels is also not in accordance with the pre installation agreement, meaning wouldn't be getting getting the maximum output possible if the agreement was followed accordingly, however, they have clarified and said I will be.

In our opinion they have voided the agreement set out and we no longer feel they are honourable company or that their employees are trustworthy.

When a customer contacts us with complaints of issues with the workmanship, the first thing we need to do is investigate the issue, and whether or not is is in fact related to the works we have carried out (rather than being existing damage that's nothing to do with us, for example). This can take some time.

Your claims were treated with the same level of urgency and attention to detail that we would give any other customer, despite persistent levels of agresssion from you with our representatives, false allegations that our installers had stolen rolls of roof flashing from your property and the issue of a fraudulent card transaction chargeback submitted by yourself for the balance due. These dubious actions and aggressive behaviours muddied the validity of your initial claims, which could have been amicably resolved in good faith between us.

Our representative Daryl spoke to you over the course of several days regarding the issues you raised, and you re-settled the balance owed to us that you had fraudulently charged back at that point. As the balance due was re-settled and no further correspondence had been received, we considered the matter closed.

REST - improved support.

Michael at REST has been in touch and supported us. What started out as a less than positive experience due to a previous employee has become a more positive experience.

Based on your reply, which is at best disenguous, please send me the original e-mail containing all the documents that you have sent today.

So the original e-mail.

I find myself returning to Trust Pilot to leave yet another negative review for what it now appears to be an appalling supplier based on my experiences.

When selling their product, we were told that within 30 days of completion and go live, we would be sent documentation so that we could engage with our energy provider for a more financially beneficial tariff, the reason why we all opt for solar panels.

Now that they have our money they don't care. I have now chased twice for the documentation and one each occasion the contact at REST, why the hell they choose to use WhatsApp is beyond me, has read the message but has chosen not to reply and has ignored me.

I have also asked why only I, or my wife can use the app and why both of us cannot have our own logins?

Guess what... No reply!!

Why are REST using WhatsApp, is there not an e-mail option?

For any prospective customers, learn from our mistake and chose another provider.

Abusive behaviour

I cannot recommend this company and would advise against using due to their aggressive and abusive nature. Whilst the matter has been dealt with, on issue of legal proceedings from myself. Up to that point I received email threats, telephone threats and an unannounced visit to my property with verbal abuse and threats. I tried to use HIES the mediator, who were worse than REST. Tens of thousands of pounds were added to my bill. It has taken months to sort out, been incredibly stressful, what little faith I had in human decency has been destroyed and now that the certification paperwork has arrived after 4 months, I find that Octopus energy do not support the Growatt batteries.

My advice is to use a company in your local area, who can come and do a proper survey, are at hand to help with the process and who will be less expensive.

In response to REST reply, which I didn’t want to get into. REST took on themselves without any instruction from me and without my knowledge , to decide not put all 8 panels on the roof as was agreed. On the installation day scaffolding arrived for the gable end roof but not for the rear elevation. They then proceeded to put 4 panels on the side roof and the remaining 4 panels on my flat roof extension. Their take on this was that I agreed to it. I repeatedly said no, asked where the rear roof scaffolding was , why flat roof boxes had been sent. I was pressured into their decision by 4 men in my garden and one on the telephone. I was extremely unhappy with the installation and could not get an answer as to why REST has arranged to change the installation without my consent, apart from they wouldn’t fit and I had agreed. I withheld payment because the installation was different to the contractor. This is when the abuse started. They deny this abuse however I have copies of the emails and phone calls, my ring doorbell has a video of the abusive visit. The mediation company were of no help because they would not ask for the scaffolding order or the solar panel company order and considering they need proof of all complaints agreed with REST. The gentleman in the response then confirmed to my friend who had to get involved, that he had made the decision the day before the installation to put the remaining 4 panels on the flat roof instead of the rear elevation.

After speaking to my lawyer, they composed a before court action warning letter, which I sent by email and by recorded delivery. On checking the tracking, there was no response from the company when the post person tried to get a signature. I sent another email and was about to send an unrecorded letter when I had a phone call from REST asking if they could make arrangements to put my solar panels on the roof and withdraw the £20,000 plus charges they had added to my bill. There was no verbal apology.
It is obvious that this company is well versed in deception, they decided to make this change in order to make a larger profit and I presume believed that I could be coerced into agreeing. That the extra charges which were instant, were done to frighten me into paying for them to go away, as were the threatening phone calls, emails and visit.

In my attempts I trying to resolve the situation I have found out that the solar panel installers were from the North Yorkshire in the East coast and I am located in Merseyside on the west coast. The scaffolding
came from Leeds and again we’re not local. No physical survey was done of my house only a desktop survey of the photos I sent them. There is no Ombudsman for green energy.

I see from the reviews that most are positive, however there is a repeating pattern with the negative reviews. They all speak of not being refunded of deposits after deciding not to use REST, pressure selling with little to noncooling off period, threatening and harassing behavior.

My review is that I wish I had never dealt with them and look forward to seeing them going out of business.

In response to REST second reply. My review is truthful and honest. It happened exactly as I have stated, it took from the original date of installation 09.07.25 until the corrective installation on 15.09.25 and you were paid on that date. You can continue to express your lies and deception and I’ll keep replying. The solution to a bad review is to install the solar panels as agreed in the first place instead of trying to make a fast buck,don’t abuse customers and don’t lie.

We would like to take the opportunity to clarify the situation, as the review does not accurately reflect the events that took place.

During your installation, no concerns or requests for changes were raised at any point. It was only after our installers had completed the agreed works and left the property that you informed us you wished for the system to be altered from what was detailed and signed for in your contract. Despite this, and in order to reach a positive resolution, we returned to your property and carried out the requested adjustments at no additional cost, allowing the system to meet your revised expectations.

Following completion, payment was not received for more than two months. As the outstanding balance remained legally due, we had no option but to escalate the matter to our debt collection service. This was handled professionally and in line with standard legal and business procedures.

With regard to the allegations of threats or verbal abuse, we completely refute these claims. REST is a long-established and reputable company with a strong focus on professionalism and customer care at every stage of our service. We have never had a complaint of this nature, and if at any point you felt uncomfortable or threatened, we would always advise contacting the police directly.

In relation to HIES, please note that HIES (Home Insulation & Energy Systems Quality Assured Contractors Scheme) is an independent consumer protection body that provides impartial advice and mediation between customers and accredited installers. Their role is to offer fair and transparent guidance to help resolve disputes.

Finally, regarding your Growatt batteries and Octopus Energy, we can confirm that Octopus does support Growatt systems. If you require assistance with configuring your day/night charging tariffs or connecting your system, please contact us.

While we understand this situation has been challenging, we are confident that we acted responsibly, professionally, and in accordance with all contractual obligations.

Special recognition must go to Craig Griffiths, the engineer who designed our system. His expertise was evident as he listened to our needs and recommended a perfectly tailored solution that will serve our interests for years to come.
The project was masterfully overseen by the project manager, Mr. Hussan Abdullah. Hussan was incredibly diligent, managing every single step of the process with precision and ensuring that every detail was handled to the highest standard. I must also give my highest praise to the installation team: CJ, Fred, and Tommy Lee. It was a pleasure to have them on-site.
