The Restaurant Choice Avis 

Just been given one of these cards by my employer and having read some of the comments I thought I would check to see if the card was active and also to get a balance. Calling the number on the reverse to get a balance didn't work, it dose not give you enough time to enter the card number and then before you know it there is a recorded message with an irrate female voice telling you go on line (you have to hear it to believe) So, I went online and guess what, my card is dead, nothing on it. Having read all of the comments there is no use for my card other than the bin.

I was given one of these for my birthday in April 2020 but due to COVID I couldn’t use it due to the first lockdown.
When the lockdown lifted I tried to use it but both Nando’s and Yo! refused to accept my card, saying they didn’t accept them despite the website clearly stating they did.
Shortly after this the second lockdown came in and I couldn’t use it.
I contacted the company to help seek a resolution to my issue and was told someone would get back to me but they never did.
Now my card has expired and is useless.

Had a lot of trouble with these cards. Was first bought one for a present in 2018 which I tried to use in Nandos in 2019 but it didn't work. It hadn't expired so I contacted Restaurant Choice online and the card was replaced. The replacement card I was not able to get around to using because of lockdown. I contacted RC online before the expiry but did not get a reply. I was about to give up but saw other reviews advising to contact by phone, which I have now done and spoke to a very pleasant young man who has said I will get a further replacement card in 6 - 8 weeks, which is fine. Assume it will be for the same amount, forgot to clarify this. I keep my fingers crossed.

Like so many others I received a gift card in early 2020 that I was unable to use. I emailed the company before expiry and received no reply. I came on here to leave a negative review (for the lack of a reply) but saw that others had had better luck phoning so did this instead and got through straight away. Spoke to George who was very friendly and arranged for a new card to be sent out to me within 7-8 weeks. After almost 8 weeks I received the new card and am very grateful for this as they are under no obligation to do this. I have deducted a star for not answering emails - a company should not have an email address for customer services queries if there is no intention to reply. The very least they should do is to have an automated email response suggesting a phone call instead.

I had a card for £50 that was due to expire at the beginning of March, not used for obvious reasons! I telephoned the number on the back of the card and spoke to a very helpful person who advised that a replacement card, valid for a further year would be issued. This has just arrived, within the time frame suggested. Many thanks.

Our son kindly bought us a dual gift card package containing a Restaurant Choice Gift Card to the value of £25 and an Odeon Cinema Gift Card to the value of £25. He paid £50 for this as a Christmas Gift for us Christmas 2019.

I contacted the Restaurant choice company today as we haven’t been able to use them jointly since we were given them due to COVID etc. I have been advised that the restaurant gift card has expired as was only valid for 12 months whereas the cinema gift card is valid for two years which does not make sense for them to have different expiry times if they are in the same gift pack, especially as the incentive/idea of the gift is to have a meal and go to the cinema!!

I was advised to contact Tesco or Morrison’s to complain which I did. I spoke to Tesco Head Office and as I thought they told me it is the responsibility of the company supplying the individual gift card. They sell them on behalf of the Companies!

I am particularly upset fir my son as £50 is a lot of money fir a gift that cannot be used.

I will not purchase any of these as gifts for people in the future!! Very disappointing. I appreciate times are difficult for everybody at the moment. I work for the NHS. However my son paid for an item that cannot be used!

As I have emailed 4 times and no response on card expired due to covid and restaurants closed, very poor customer service, why should I have to call and pay to talk to them just more money in their pockets, do not use this company

We were given a £40 gift card which we have been unable to use due to Covid-19. We have emailed them to ask if we could extend the deadline but they do not respond! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

OK so my card expired and I phoned at the end of December. I was promised a new card but it never arrived. That is until last week! Be patient. Don't email as they don't answer. Phone and then wait fir your new card. It may take a while but it will come

Absolute con I was given 2 cards as a birthday present but cant use either as both cards only have a 5 digit security number but they want 6 digits.Dont buy these cards it's a big con.helpline useless and no replies from emails,why are these cards even being sold?

Don't buy, just a scam, can't use in our town!!!

Bought this card from my brother as a gift. Does not work, says it's expired. Tried to get in contact with them but no response. Poor service. I've seen that many people are having this same issue. How are they allowed to get away with taking people's money! Surely this isn't legal.

Got a card but haven’t been able to use it due to covid - scamming b@st@rds have now said it’s expired, so my friends money stolen for none of the services provided. If you’re business model is to steal birthday money you’re basically a Disney villain 🤮

Don't normally leave reviews but just to let everyone know I called up Feb 8th re an expired £100 balance I'd not been able to use due to COVID - spoke to a very helpful chap (Mynor think his name was) who said he'd send a new card - but could be a while. Then 3rd March a new card arrived - full balance of £100 and valid until March 2022. So call them and be patient.

Got for my birthday present off of a friend. Haven't used yet due to covid.

Don't use these guys please, if the recipient doesn't use quick enough its an utter waste of money as it expires.so your money expires can you believe it.good cash was paid and they just keep it after 12 months if not used.

They should be more understanding with covid as people haven't been able to use them.

What happens to the money after it expires, it lines their greedy pockets. Disgraceful

Spoke to George as realised card expires today. Really helpful chap, said new card will be sent via post within 5-6 weeks. Definitely worth a phone call!

I had four £25 vouchers, with everything shut down most companies have extended the vouchers not gift choice. They've seen it as a money making opportunity. My cards are no longer valid. The company don't have a covid statement on their website.

I got mine from Argos. I hope they are pulled from being in supermarkets. The law needs changing for gift vouchers in the UK as it has been elsewhere then sharks like this wouldn't exist.

This card is a waste of money as most of the restaurants where it can be used are now permanently closed and currently it can't be used for takeaways ordered online. I have queried this by E Mail but have yet to receive a response.

Received a gift card for my birthday in February 2020 - didn’t get chance to use it due to COVID lockdown and throughout the year not been able to use it.
As it has now expired - contacted a restaurant where I wanted to use it for and they said ‘i’m sure Restaurant Choice will extend the expiry date’.

After sending three messages to Restaurant Choice - no response, very very poor.
Taken money and don’t care about customers - there could be some families on low income with a gift card that could buy a take out meal.
Do Restaurant Choice care? Obviously not. Very poor service - I would not buy anyone a gift card, that would be an insult to the recipient.
