What Solidarity does to families is a sin

Solidarity is very astute to hire people on the front end to "sell" their healthshare. They sell catholic values and a generalized sense you are becoming part of a family and they explain in detail the share guidelines. They also offer a share for approved non- conventional therapies which is why I joined. I believed in their mission. In the 4 years I was a member and paid $20k into the program, they have actually paid out of solidarities funds $600. This is the game.... After you meet your share out of pocket "deductible" You or the facility calls to see if the procedure is a "covered expense". If they say yes, then you have the procedure with hospital or whomever, or tests done. What Solidarity did in my case is say a $1,050 procedure is "REPRICED" to $250.00. Now they didn't pay the facility a dime. They just repriced and the balance they say is yours. Then the facility contacts me after 60 days and says you owe us $1050. I tell them my Healthshare is paying because it was approved for share. But the facility does not accept the $250 price. Then the unpaid bill, sits in your portal unpaid. And the Hospital or doctors office starts emailing, calling, and texting for payment. Then you call Solidarity and tell them you are getting calls, and when will they pay? They tell you, they WILL pay but they cannot give you a date. So now it's the 6th month mark, or more and this game continues over and over. OR, they tell you to resubmit the bills and when you do from 6 months or a year ago, the clock starts again from the beginning.. They make you feel that you have not submitted something, or there are software updates or some excuse. These workers are doing the bidding of the top management. They need to quit. They become part of the deception. These are suppose to be Catholic Christian executives but who are deceiving the people of God. What they do is a grave sin. They have ruined families credit, placed great stress on working families who are trying to live out the gospel mission and they are not only being treated unfairly, they are being defrauded. Go to another Christian Healthshare like Curo, where you write a check directly to those you help. Solidarity does not manage your funds well and keeps it, promising to pay, and do not. Although they have a new Legal Statement posted about no obligation to pay, who in their right mind with children will give monies to a company with a rouse to help share your covered expenses, and do not. Some folks credit is so bad, they cannot even buy a car. I pray for their conversion and also all those hurt by those who in authority who are not fixing this. Why aren't church leaders warning Catholics to beware. This constant apathy in appalling! Bad fruit...

The absence of helpful…

This company fails to provide clear explanations, timely payments or any payments at all. If they do decide to pay it will be at a remarkable fraction of what was billed even after a self pay discount. There explanation of sharing (EOS) really explain nothing and are just very confusing to read. We have only received a $34 check for reimbursement on one bill from Feb 2023. I have far greater and older bills that have not been paid or reimbursed from October 2022. I paid that upfront. My labor and delivery bill from April 2023 has not been paid and is in collections. As a company that aligns with a Catholic viewpoint and regularly sends out newsletters of pro life actions and so on they have failed to make families be at ease financially.

We are still waiting for 2022 bills to…

We are still waiting for 2022 bills to be paid. We moved from Solidarity to due the volume of bills just being sent to collections as Solidarity refused to pay in any sort of timely matter. They now are saying we may not get our bills paid because we are “no longer members” but we were when the bills were incurred. The only reason why we moved is because they were not in good faith holding up their end of the signed agreements.

This is has not been an easy experience for us

I had previously given this company a good review after the onboarding process but once we tried to use the policy it became impossible to use. I couldn’t find any providers in my area that would work with me to process my claims and the ones that did were not practitioners that I care to use. Ultimately we will use the marketplace during open enrollment and see what else is out there

Keep Looking!!

We were member of Solidarity Healthshare for a few years as an alternative to traditional health insurance while my husband was self-employed. Initially, it seemed like a viable, cost-effective solution, with the added appeal of a community-focused, faith-based approach.

However, as time went on, the service declined significantly. Claims processing times became unacceptably long, with many bills rolling over to collections. These are bills that Solidarity Healthshare should have negotiated or paid at least partially. The situation has been further exacerbated by Solidarity's use of another organization, AMPS, to handle these collections issues. Dealing with both parties to try to get anything done or simple questions answered has been a nightmare—slow, unresponsive, and ineffective. This has left us in a stressful bind, with accounts I never wanted to see outstanding.

If you're considering Solidarity Healthshare, I STRONGLY urge you to keep researching your options. While the concept may be appealing at first glance, the execution—particularly regarding customer service, claims processing, and collections—has been a disaster. Be fully aware of the potential for significant delays, unresolved bills, and the stress of dealing with collections before you make your decision.

We end up not joining your group…

We end up not joining your group because you do not offer health sharing for medical issues that someone is born with, and offer only a waiver for it, meaning if that person ever needs care for it, you won't cover it. For being Christian and pro-life, that's fairly disturbing.

I have been very happy

I have been very happy with my membership so far with Solidarity. The employees are very kind and try to help the best they can. I really appreciate how they will advocate on your behalf whereas other health share ministries do not support you in this way.
The only issue I have had is there have been a few times miscommunication between departments has been an issue. When it is brought up they help fix it but it has been a little difficult to navigate healthcare when there’s miscommunication or wrong information given out.

The true meaning of a Christian HealthShare Ministry

I’m very proud to be a member of Solidarity HealthShare. Just the other day, I was notified that I shared into a bill for a family battling a severe illness that cost them $100k. It was fully paid and I helped in that. This is the true meaning of Christian Healthshare. Thank you Solidarity!

I chose not to become a member

I chose not to become a member. Your document was not clear about preexisting conditions. I paid the application fee, only to find that there were some preexisting conditions that were never covered. I would recommend that you make this more clear since my application fee was not reimbursed .

Too bad there is no zero-rating option

Too bad there is no zero-rating option. My wife got brain cancer early 2023. Now multiple surgeries later and $150,000 in bills outstanding and not being paid by Solidarity, we spend our days worrying about her life AND the bills. Meanwhile if you don't keep paying they drop paying outstanding bills. We had an opportunity to get real insurance but was convinced Solidarity would cover it. PLUS we got approval by them to get one surgery in Mexico, then spent $60,0000 out of pocket doing that, and it appears the savings we used will not get reimbursed as promised. So, we go a triple whammy depending on this pyramid scheme. Stay away. Soooo misleading.

CINO ( Catholic In Name Only)

Still the worst healthshare ever. Daughter had ER visit in July 2021. Just now got notification of “sharing “ That is almost 3 years. Currently zero movement on cancer treatments from September, 23. Their preferred provider for breast cancer was a plastic surgeon 2 hours away from me.

CINO (Catholic In Name Only)

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Because of their neglect to pay medical bills in a timely manner, I have been sent to debt collections for the first time in my life. I spend hours on phone calls to keep them from getting sent to the next level. They claim to be Catholic but a “God bless” can only go so far when medical debt is mounting close to $100,000 with no timeline of when it will be paid.

Catholic in advertisement only.

We were active members from November of 2018-May 31, 2023. In that time we’ve been sent to collections THREE TIMES and now nearing our FOURTH time starting next week for dates of service December 2022-March 2023–yes for claims submitted more than a year ago. And my medical providers have all been incredibly patient while waiting for Solidarity to process claims before finally sending to collections. Average “processing” time for claims on our bills has been around 8-12 months. Processed does NOT mean PAID! PAID claims take closer to the 18-24 month time frame and that is after much hounding through the share stream, phone calls, 3-way phone calls between provider and Solidarity. What a nightmare. The latest infraction is dealing with balance bills. Typically their third party service agreement with AMPS deals with balance bills, but last week I was told that a new policy exists that prevents AMPS from getting involved with the provider for balance bills under a certain dollar amount. (Which the solidarity rep Kelly, had no idea about, but AMPS knew it) The policy instructs AMPS to send all balance bills under a certain amount, back to Solidarity for re-review. Mind you, an EOS has already been generated at that point, the member responsibility paid. In that claims review, another EOS was generated and found that I now owe the full amount instead of the “fair” amount? So which is it? The medical charge was first considered overpriced, but then now is deemed fair and reasonable? I asked the rep what I should do about the discrepancy and lack of knowledge of this new policy and she said with total disrespect, “I guess you pay the full amount” Ugh. I could go on and on and on. It should also be known that we are a “healthy” family and have rarely used solidarity for illness. Primarily used for well-child visits and the birth of 2 babies since being members. This company is Catholic in name only. Absolutely a disgrace how they treat their members both active and inactive. Their responses to the reason for delay basically places the blame on the member for not submitting something correctly. Way to pass the buck! I’ve always had the provider bill DIRECTLY as requested. So no, it’s not a matter of member error. They claim now, that active members have first priority—which means our bills will never be shared into despite the fact that I was told ours would still be shared into because of the WELL-KNOWN backlog of claims— BUT we finally left BECAUSE our bills weren’t being shared into for YEARS some were over 2 years old at one point and this is while we were ACTIVE members. I’m so sick of dealing with collections for WELL-CHILD VISITS! Ridiculous. In theory, these share companies are wonderful, but in reality, they are a nightmare.

Unreasonably long processing times.

We faithfully paid our monthly share amount for 3 years from January 2020 to January 2023. We have 17 outstanding medical bills that Solidarity has not shared into. These bills were incurred from February 2022 to October 2022. We were active members from January 1st 2020 to January 32st 2023. All of the 17 medical bills were incurred and submitted WHILE we were active members. 16 of them finished processing WHILE we were active members and were placed into a “batched, waiting for payment status” WHILE we were active members. If Solidarity had shared into these bills in REASONABLE amount of time, then we would have still been active sharing members when these bills were shared into. Instead, our bills are now being placed at the end of the line behind active sharing members because of the following ambiguous statement in their Sharing Guidelines "Only Sharing Members with an active Membership will have their Eligible Medical Expenses Shared. " How long will it take before these bills are shared into? It's been 2 years so far.

I wish we would have never joined Solidarity in the first place, and I will be happy to put this chapter behind me. I write this review because I do not want others to have to go through the headache and stress I have been through so far with Solidarity.

They will not pay the shareable wellness visits they promise

There is nothing Christian about this company. We chose them specifically because we were entitled to a shareable annual wellness visit. We were members in good standing for 6 months, including for 3 months after our pediatric appointments. Then my husband got a job with health insurance benefits so we gave them one month notice and left. They are refusing to pay for the wellness visits, claiming they're approved but current members get priority, which is indefinite. So our monthly share paid for other members' bills but we got nothing out of it. We essentially donated $3,000. And now our bills got sent to collections because it's been 11 months. They don't make good on their word and obviously they are not in good financial standing since they don't have the money to pay. Had a much better experience with Samaritan Ministries.

Consistently poor experience

Solidarity Healthshare consistently offered substandard service during our 5 years as members. No concrete assistance in regards to sharing of medical bills. Stonewalling and regurgitating legalese is their specialty, while medical bills go further and further into arrears. Our major medical bills were ignored and unpaid by Solidarity for nearly 2 years, going into collection for which we were ultimately personally responsible for paying. DO NOT RECOMMEND UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
