The Gender Clinic at 70 Harley Street Avis 

Booking a consultation and asking any questions was so extremely easy - they always respond within one working day. It didn't feel like I was communicating with them through e-mail, it honestly felt like direct messaging. It was such speedy communication, and I had arranged for my first consultation with Dr Khalid much sooner than I had expected.

I saw Dr Khalid for the first time in Feb 2023 in order to obtain a diagnosis of gender dysphoria so that I could start HRT. She was very friendly, understanding, and respectful of my situation, and made sure she understood as much of my situation as possible. Some of the questioning feels a little strange or invasive, but its a necessary protocol for our own protection. My report was very promptly written up in extremely good detail, all of which was entirely correct - and by 24th Feb I had started Testosterone :)

I had another appointment with her in May 2023 to receive a recommendation for top surgery. Very similar procedure to before - it felt as though she remembered me and my history, and she genuinely seemed to care about my wellbeing and transition process. Hearing that my transition has been going well so far seemed to genuinely bring her joy, and there is nothing better to ask for in a mental health professional.

Was the treatment expensive? Yes. But it was extremely fast, extremely good quality, and I would pay the price ten times over - because you cannot put a price on your happiness.

I was very daunted but excited by the journey I was beginning, but everyone at The Gender Clinic were, and continue to be, amazing. I cannot express how helpful understanding and kind the whole team have been throughout the whole process, I am under their care for the next couple of years but I know I will be able to contact them with any worries or concerns in the future. Everyone I spoke to made me feel super comfortable, it was made such an easy process to go through. They were amazing thank you all!

I recently had a zoom call with this clinic for my surgery referral and gender dysphoria diagnosis. The doctor who i spoke with was very kind and understanding, and quickly calmed my nerves. All of my communication with them has been very quick and productive, fixing any problems and getting the process done much quicker and productively than i had expected.

Dr. Leontis is friendly and easy to open up to. Yes, they ask some stereotypical questions but that is just how it is. No way around some topics, but even though it costs a lot, it is worth it since it is fast and useful.

Calling trans healthcare in the UK a nightmare is a bit of an understatement. Even private providers have shoddy admin and long wait times, so it was refreshing when contacting genderclinic to have a well staffed phone line, prompt and professional email responses, and appointments available at short notice.

The clinicians themselves were professional and helpful, although for me it was purely box ticking. So I can't comment on the experience that someone earlier in their transition would have had.

So yes it's ridiculously expensive and contributes to obscene medical gatekeeping, but as we've got to play the system then this is by far the best option if you can afford it. After all the price keeps the waiting times down.

I had a 1 hour video appointment with Doctor Coulter to gain a gender dysphoria diagnosis so that I could start HRT.

When I initially emailed I believed that it would be several months before I could get an appointment however I was able to get one within a month of emailing.

The appointment cost £500 which was anxiety inducing as it was a lot of money to spend and an extra appointment cost £350.

Doctor Coulter himself was very nice and polite throughout the consultation and I found him easy to talk to.

I was asked to give the number of a relative or friend who could talk to Doctor Coulter about me as well. I was lucky enough to have a close friend who was able to confirm my experience of gender dysphoria however I believe for other clients this aspect may be an issue.

I appreciated however that I was told in the appointment that I had received a diagnosis and I received all the paperwork quite quickly after, especially considering my appointment was so close to Christmas.

All in all it was a good experience and has helped my significantly despite the price. I am very happy with this clinic however I would advise people to think carefully about how much money it is.

I found myself in urgent need of an assessment & I contacted The Gender Clinic for help. Everyone I spoke to throughout was really helpful & kind. They couldn’t have done more to help with what I needed. Thank you to everyone, especially Dr Streeruwitz, who was so supportive & kind.

Staff were very quick to get back to us, were very informative and answered all questions. The website is also well designed and explained most of the process. The clinic is also non-binary and mental health friendly, which for us was very important.

We were booked in with Dr Streeruwitz who specialises in CPTSD. We only had to wait a month for the appointment, paid upon agreement on appointment date, and had it made clear what was required beforehand, like ID and having a close friend available for a call to confirm some things post-appointment. This is only to make the report richer as opposed to "fact-checking".

We were also asked to get a letter from our therapist to confirm we were of sound mind and stable enough to transition, and were informed that a follow up appointment would only be needed if there were any concerns about our mental health.

We filled in questionnaires beforehand, detailing our info, physical and mental health history, and gender presentation. We scored high on the autism test which did not jeopardise our diagnosis at all, and was handled incredibly well by Dr Streeruwitz. We also have Dissociative Identity Disorder, and Streeruwitz handled it incredibly well as well.

During the appointment itself, Dr Streeruwitz was pleasant to talk to, asked all relevant questions, and was understanding and respectful of us. It was very easy to talk to her, and despite feeling stressed beforehand, the appointment itself left me feeling comfortable and at ease.

It only took a week for the report to be written, with a draft being sent to us beforehand in case of corrections. We are now on our way to booking a consult with Dr Ntanos for top surgery.

We're very pleased with the service The Gender Clinic and Dr Streeruwitz provided, they're well worth the £500 for an appointment as well as the short wait times and quality of service.

They were very quick with communicating (less than a day response time), explained everything out. Provided additional resources for what I would need to start HRT - waiting list was extremely short - I waited about three weeks but I chose the later appointment offered, so it can be shorter. I had a video link meeting, and the service used was easy to navigate, and maintained good connection. The gender psychologist I chose (Dr. Hejda-Forde) was absolutely lovely - came out of our meeting with a very happy, positive experience. I felt listened to, understood and affirmed about my dysphoria.

Everyone was very kind and patient. I had a lot of questions, all of which were answered either by admins over email or over the phone. The assessment was absolutely fine and was everything I expected. It was easy to set up and they did it via video call. The wait time for an appointment was also extremely short when I went through this, I was seen within a couple of weeks. The assessor was very nice too, I felt comfortable, listened to, and taken seriously. All your details are secure, your assessment report is sent to you securely and quickly, and they're more than happy to recommend endocrinologists to help with your next steps. Overall, very good!!

I had an appointment with Dr. Hedja-Forde for a gender dysphoria diagnosis and recommendation for hormone treatment. Dr Hedja-Forde was very pleasant to speak with and made me feel at ease, especially when we discussed sensitive topics, and was very respectful. The report was perfect and very prompt.

The admin team were also excellent and responded very fast and the process of booking an appointment was easy and quick.

This is an excellent service, and I will definitely return when I require future support.

I came here to get a top surgery referral as a non binary person and it was successful. The admin team were polite and efficient. My doctor was to the point and write a comprehensive referral. It is, obviously, expensive but for a quick and comprehensive service I’d recommend it.

My experience with the gender clinic was nothing but positive. Email communications, calls and video calls were all excellent.

Dr Coulter was a pleasure to talk to and very sensitive of the issues that were brought up in my assessment. The admin/customer team are amazing, their response times to queries is incredibly fast. I would definitely recommend this service to anyone who is going through a similar situation to myself.

Getting in touch with the clinic was very easy, the admin team (Lila May and Richard) respond promptly to every enquiry, are very friendly and happily answer any question. Wait times for appointments are much shorter than other private clinics, I had my appointment four weeks after my first enquiry.

I had my assessment for gender dysphoria with Dr Leontis on 5 December. Dr Leontis immediately made me feel comfortable and I found it easy to talk to her about my experiences and my history. The questions she asked felt relevant and not intrusive, and Dr Leontis was very respectful and understanding, and came across as genuinely sympathetic. She also took her time for our conversation: While the assessment was scheduled for about 50 minutes, we ended up talking for closer to 70, and I never felt rushed.

The first draft of her report arrived within 7 working days, which was a little sooner than anticipated. The report was very thorough and I had minor notes only, which were incorporated the next day. I was able to sign off on the report the same day, and it was sent to the intended recipients (GP / endo) straight after.

All in all a positive experience, and I'll likely return when I need further support in the future.

Disapointing appointment with Dr Caulter

Very pleased with the comprehensive report and diagnostic summary that he made and sent to my surgeon. It was detailed and you could tell he had listened carefully to what I was saying. He was kind and attempted to be understanding.

However, for a £500 video consultation that lasted an hour, I felt like exploited. Whilst polite, the questions asked were completely innapropriate at times and showed no recognition of the non-binary identity. I did NOT feel like I was talking to a gender specialist let alone a psychologist with sympathetic understandings of the complexities of mental health.

Maybe this is a review of the state of transgender healthcare in general, but I did not feel as if the team here were there to support me.

After having my first appointment in March 2022 with Dr Streeruwitz re: initial diagnosis and hormone therapy, I recently had a follow up appointment in December 2022 re: surgery.

As per my last review, the service from this clinic is incredible. All email and phone communications are very prompt, professional, and also comfortable. The meeting itself running perfectly to time and fully meeting my expectations. Held via the usual secure video conferencing platform.

It was lovely to meet with Dr Streeruwitz again, as she is very understanding and compassionate. At this clinic you feel you are understood and respected and it is clear that they want to work with you to get you to your desired outcome.

The report was perfectly written and was securely emailed to me to check before then being promptly sent on to the recipient.

I'm very happy to be a returning customer and if I require more appointments down the line, I will definitely be coming here again! It's also a bonus that follow up appointments are charged at a reduced rate.

I had an appointment with Dr Anderson on November this year to discuss my gender dysphoria and thoughts about surgery. It was really nice talking to Dr Anderson, really lovely doctor. She is very calm and nice. I felt at ease talking to her. My only criticism is the price for an appointment. 500 pounds ain't cheap. It can be an issue for people who don't have the money to pay for it. But other than that it was a lovely experience at The Gender Clinic at 70 Harley Street. The PA's were very professional and friendly. Quick to answer any questions I had. Had fast responses to. Thanks to them I had a smooth time booking the appointment with Dr Anderson.
