Toms Garage Doors Avis 

I use an electronic key to open & shut my up and over garage door. I would like to have the option to use a regular handle and key in case of a power cut. This was NOT to replace the door, merely to adapt it.
Tom’s Garage Doors have now quoted me £761.75 for the privilege!
It was a £600 plus on the first visit until I scoffed at such a charge, when I was told they would ‘help me out’ by reducing it to £300
I am an 80 year old widow, but I’m not a monkey!
My handyman will now carry out the job for a fraction of that amount.

Kevin attended today to fix our Hormann up and over garage door which had been sticking, no obvious signs to us what was wrong with the door. Within literally 5 minutes door fixed minor problem. Service could not have been better and at such a great price. Prompt response time and great service. Thank you

Called as my roller garage door motor had given up. Initial coms were great offered same day then cancelled for next day. Came on time. Door already had a functioning controller and three month old, new door skin, so expected a repair. Took one look, first words were “this is going to be expensive!!” and then started slighting the system rather than confirming my diagnosis. Refused to even look at it as the controller front was off, as I had been programming new remotes and verbally quoted me £2800 (TBC). Now fixed and working. It was the motor and cost £80. ( plus their £20).

Great upfront and speed of response and work was done properly, but....
Absolutely overcharged. I accepted a remote telephone quote while the engineer waited, as we were going away and needed a quick fix. They offered £19.95 for a no go call out only (which I should have taken). The actual work took 20 minutes and the parts cost around £20. TGD 'discounted' their £440 price to £397 'for OAPs' when others who are REALLY local (not purport to be with advertising and contracted freelance workers) would have charged £142.50, normal rate. Be very wary..... Shocked at brazen rip off tactics. We manage a lot of properties and now know who will get all our business in future; it won't be TGDs

Does anyone know the address for Toms Garage Doors please? I wish to make a complaint after being charged £216 to have the spring turned and a spray of WD. Absolutely outrageous, do not use this company.

Had new remote control unit fitted for my garage roller shutter. They charge me £720 and even it's not working because there was a socket issue. After the job done, Engineer told me you need a electrician. In my opinion he should check the socket first. My old remote control unit was fine and working but he replaced with new one to rip off. They even took my old working remote control unit. I will take this matter to consumer court to resolve. I am not happy with the service and looking Tom's Garage Doors to resolve above matter.

Had a quick response when requesting a call out but any follow up communication has been very poor and frustrating - it goes through to a central call centre who were unable to answer my query, said someone would call me back - they didn’t. Three more attempts to contact them resulted in twice being cut off after waiting on hold for ages and finally on hold / no answer for ten minutes. Finding another company.

The employee who came out to look at the garage door said it wanted a new motor and electric box. After he made a phone call, we were quoted £2,000, needless to say we declined. The employee was rude and swore a lot as he found it difficult to put the parts back. Fortunately for us, our son had a look and fixed it.

Prices are through the roof,, or should I say door!!!

I had a minor problem a week after my door was fixed but Dan was back to fix it promptly without cost under warranty.

gave 2 stars as I think I was ripped off !! checked on line for up & over garage door repairs needed new cables &spools which I knew it was the cables, anyway guy came had a look, phoned office back to tell the lady what he was going to replace, than she spoke to me & firstly quoted £496 I believe it was, then asked me if I was a pensioner which I am, dropped down to £396.96 , he was only here from start to finish about 15/20 minutes, so I said o.k. go ahead , ( hubby not happy, said was ripped off) asked on line if was ripped off on the price & it said excessively, should have been £80 to £250, should have just paid the £20 & said no thanks!! but they think it is a fair price for 15 mins work !!! BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ARE QUOTED BY THIS COMPANY .. TOMS GARAGE DOORS

Not good at all; whacking ‘emergency’ call out fee when it wasn’t an emergency with no one mentioning this was double the standard fee; said fee taken on what looked like a personal phone; zero communication after an ‘ assessment’ which told me what I already knew, that the springs had broken; an estimate that climbed by three figures between initial phone call and me finally getting through to them and a ‘take it or leave it ‘approach. I left it. Garage door still broken after 12 days waiting for these gentlemen from the Wild West.

Did a good job but expensive, door now working very well.
Took around 40 minutes to complete cost £407.48, parts fitted probably cost no more than £50.

I first called Garage Door Co Ltd and presumably Toms Garage Doors are their local sub contractors. Very prompt call back, alternative quotes provided and I went for the cheaper option one as garage rarely used as car gone. No pressure at alm and repair done efficiently and all sorted.
Highly recommended

The service was done quickly and seems to be done well.yhe only downside was it seemed a bit expensive but im satisfied apart from that.
