Stop wasting our time; stop threatening us; stop damaging the environment.

Sincerely, I do not need a tv licence; all I watch are gaming & hiking vids on youtube.

Yet these fools keep pestering me with emails & letters, and threatening me with what? Bailiffs? Spies? Enforcers?

What right do the BBC have to our time? How can they legally invade our privacy?

There used to be an unspoken mutual understanding: I don't use your "services", you don't contact me. I still don't use your services, yet you insist on contacting me every damn month.

What's your problem? No other corporation acts this way. If you're so concerned with theft, password protect your content & give your users accounts? You know, like every other service in existence.

P.s. Defund the BBC. Your viewers will be better off without you; the news cycle is poison.

Not fit for purpose

Couldn't organise a drink in a brewery. The sooner this lot are disbanded the better.
I cancelled a licence as the executor via their online bereavement form, they continued writing to the dead person via email and letters asking how to refund the money. They then failed to pay money into the dead person's account which had been closed by the bank. They then sent a cheque to the dead person's address which we don't have access to. Finally they expect me to try and retrieve this cheque. They have not communicated with me as the executor.

How can it be legal to harass people?

How can it be legal to harass people? And it does not matter if there is any ground. They must be polite and know their place. Is there any one who can show this company ITS PLACE?!

Booliing in form of letters and visitors? I dont think so. All their letters are going to the bin straight away as from today. I submitted my no license report, which was really really self repeating and abusive in form.

ZERO stars

ZERO stars. I decided that I no longer wished to pay six months in advance, so got behind with my payment plan. All I got was threats from this dictatorship stating that they are looking in to whether I have broken any of their laws! Well their aggressive bullying tactics won't work with me. I have told them that I will pay in full when my next licence is due and that my current licence has already been paid for. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Not fit for purpose if we could give ZERO we would

If we could give ZERO we would Got a place in Spain--lucky us-- so cancel the license when we leave for winter Been doing this for years and its a nightmare everytime They do not listen They can not forward plan information given They must waste Millions every year with snotty letters and threats. Close them down immediately with no redundancy payments as penalty for gross incompetance

No stars. I have just received a letter saying they will cancel my licence because I have not paid the overdue £2.50 (yes two pound fifty) and I risk breaking the law. I don't watch BBC its all crap. I only watch netflix and you tube. Don't dont do any streaming or downloading or whatever they want to call it. Have tried to say I don't need a licence but they insist I do. They are greedy b*****ds

I recently received a letter from the UK TV Licensing Authority asking me to confirm whether I need a license. Following their instructions, I went online to answer the questions, clearly stating that I do not watch live TV or use the iPlayer. Despite my answers, the system insisted that I still require a license.

After this frustrating experience, I attempted to call for assistance, but the automated options continually directed me back to the online system. Eventually, I had to select that I needed a license just to reach a human representative. When I finally spoke to someone, I reiterated that I don’t need a license, but the process felt unnecessarily complicated and misleading.

This experience raises concerns about clarity and accessibility in their system. It felt like I was being trapped in a loop, which is frustrating for someone who is trying to comply with the law. I hope they can improve their communication and make it easier for people to understand their licensing requirements.

Britain shouldn't stand for this.

An Englishman's home is his castle, except when a broadcaster you don't listen to harasses you with bolded red text letters and sends people round to snoop.

I declared last year I don't watch their TV. Yet I come back from holiday with threatening letters and people having visited unsolicited.

How can it be legal to indiscriminately broadcast media and then cajole people with letters like this?

I am a civil servant and I am embarrassed that the same state treats ordinary house-holders in such a fear inducing way.

End this and pay for the BBC a more equitable way.

Shambolic

I’ve worked hard all my life and shouldn’t be hit with something that feels like another tax. The TV licence is a disgrace for what it costs — totally out of touch with reality. With so many other ways to watch TV these days, it feels unfair to be forced into paying such a high amount for something I don’t even fully use.

I’ve received three emails in the last…

I’ve received three emails in the last week telling me to renew my tv licence
Which doesn’t expire until 31/08/2025
This means my licence expires at 11.59
On Sunday which I will renew on Sunday
I feel I have been harassed by tv licensing
It’s not like the programmes on the BBC
Are of good quality the news is shocking and goes over and over the same news

Poor customer service
Shocking programmes
And they say it’s our BBC
KEEP IT I DONT WANT IT

Absolutely shocking of the highest degree.
It took me 15 minutes to get through (and answering all security questions). Ashraf computer was down. I asked home to call me back, he was unable to call me back when computer was working as not permitted to make calls. I asked to speak to manager. He said they'll say exactly the same thing (ummm.. not the point) and he tried to contact them but could not get a response from his manager.
He proceeded to ask if he was speaking to (my mum's name), errr she's dead, which is why I'm calling the bereavement team.
Computer came back on, then off, then on. I persisted against my better judgement.
I asked if the termination of account could be sent to me in writing , either email or post; Ashraf was not permitted to do that either. I asked to speak to manager, I was put on hold for many minutes and then he came back to say that his managers were not accepting calls at this time. UNACCEPTABLE.
This service is diabolical you all ought to be utterly ashamed if yourselves.
I asked if he could leave my details so a manager could call me back and I have received NO contact from a manager.
You make us pay for call and then wait, jump through security hoops (and then we are asked AGAIN when talking to a human ) and then get told when the negligence is due to your company that 'we are not allowed to contact you' WHAT?!!!!! So we have to pay again and waste OUR time and wait and wait just to be told 'computer not working (again).
This is THE worst service I have ever come across, you ought to be utterly ashamed of yourselves.

Absolute garbage

Absolute garbage. Wtf happened to the phone service. Every time I phoned them I didn't speak to anyone from the UK. ALL I GET IS CALL CENTRES. I don't trust them.

All I wanted to do was phone them and speak to someone from this country. To report a suspicious phone call on my landline from someone claiming to be from tv licensing. The voice was Asian.

I looked up the phone number which is 01353800270.

You are a joke tv licensing just like the ridiculous experience I had with virgin media. And I still havent spoken to you.

What's the point of paying this tv tax when you do thinks on the cheap. After this I will not talk to any call centres. I have been suspicious of them for a long time this just reinforced that. I want to talk to someone who is in this country. Also your ai voice is insulting.

Just like everything else today

Just like everything else today, another poor and shoddy company that once they take your money, suddenly they are unavailable. Absolutely no way to contact these companies. Phone call, makes you put in account number, makes you hear a load of options that probably nobody wants, sends you a text to set up Whatspp regardless if you want it and then rings off, no way to email them , but happily take 2 lots of money when they should take one. A disgrace.

Repeated contact despite valid declaration – complaint ignored

I made a formal No Licence Needed declaration which TV Licensing confirmed in writing as valid until Spring 2026. Despite this assurance, I continue to receive letters asking if I need a licence.

I raised a formal complaint, was given a reference number, and asked for an explanation as to why I was being contacted during the validity period they themselves set out. No explanation was provided — only the same repeated “No Licence Declaration” response.

This is both confusing and frustrating. It shows a serious failure in communication and customer service, and undermines any trust in the process. If TV Licensing sets a validity period, they should honour it instead of harassing people with unnecessary letters.

Wish I could give them zero stars!

Sending me red letters for a previous owner, spent a lifetime on the phone explaining it and they agreed to remove the duplicate entry - but I still get them sent to me.

Tried calling them again today, but after 4 minutes of automated messages and options - it told me it was ending the call as the staff are busy (no holding system).

It also told me to use WhatsApp, which was the same - I answered multiple questions and eventually got told the staff are too busy to help and the chat was ended!

Awful establishment, forcing us to pay for channels we don't want.

Truly one of the weirdest customer…

Truly one of the weirdest customer service experiences ever. You have asked me to confirm I don't need a licence. Yet every avenue of contact ends in a roadblock. Phone, text, online, WhatsApp. Everything ends with me not being able to complete this very basic task. I really shouldn't be surprised though. An absolute mess everywhere.

Constant Harassment Despite My Declaration

I submitted an application confirming that I do not need a TV licence (reference ND1098164329), yet I continue to receive threatening letters. I tried calling their helpline, but after going through endless automated menus, the line finally says I will be connected to someone—only to then say they are busy and hang up.

I have now submitted another declaration (reference 4284899953) and sincerely hope this puts an end to the harassment.

On their phone system, they talk about “Respect.” I wish they would show even a basic level of respect by either:

Checking their system when someone declares they do not need a licence

Answering their phones properly

Or stopping the threatening letters

I do not watch live TV. I only use Netflix. If they want to visit, they are welcome, but I am tired of being harassed with letters.

Also, the process to declare that you don’t need a licence is unnecessarily complicated—it feels like navigating a maze. This shows a lack of respect for customers.

Absolutely pathetic. Been waiting for more then a week to recieve a call from them regarding lowering the amount of my tv licence. But they Absolutely rubbish they don't give a toss.

Blatant discrimination against those suffering dementia

Absolutely disgusted by TV licensing.
My father has dementia and was moved to a care home. Very difficult to cancel the TV licence. I cancelled the direct debit, now the letters don’t stop.
The website is hopeless, so I tried speaking to a person and I explained I was his legal power of attorney and my father no longer lives at the address.
I was told they needed to speak to him!
This is clear discrimination under the mental capacity act.
I tried again to try and cancel online and thought I had suceeded, but they still send letters, threatening fines etc.
The complaints process online is almost impossible to initiate. All they want you to do is pay for a licence! Would be a joke if these weren’t such serious matters.
