Deceptive Contracts and Unlawful Garnishment

Their business model seems built on trapping customers into long-term contracts with hidden renewal clauses and then punishing them financially for trying to leave. I personally never got a single service from them nor singed a contract, but now I’m dealing with garnishment and legal headaches.

This action violates the separation between personal and business liabilities and was done without prior notice or proper legal communication.

Furthermore, UniFirst’s contract contains a clause that automatically renews every five years. When I contacted the company to cancel services, I was told that simply returning the uniforms would be sufficient to close the account. Company returned the uniforms as instructed, assuming the issue was resolved. However, months later, I was blindsided by a claim that I owed the full remaining balance of the contract due to early termination — despite never having used the service after trying to cancel service.

Their practices are misleading and harmful to small business owners. They misrepresented the cancellation process and failed to act in good faith. The automatic renewal clause is excessive and not clearly communicated. Garnishing a personal account for an LLC-related matter, especially when no services were rendered after trying to cancel is both unethical and potentially unlawful.

Customers service and quality horrible

Customers service and quality has gone down hill. Up until a year ago if we had worn out FR clothing we would tag and turn them in and in turn we would get a new replacement.

Now we turn in work out and torn clothing, the replacements are old stock and in my case worse then what I turned in. Many of my coworkers have similar complaints.

I spoke with the driver and his partner and they didn't seem to care.

There comes a time when PPE is no longer PPE and as a member of two safety committees at SNL I am taking it up the chain as we have managed to change contracts before because of bad service and I feel it is time to do so again.

Don't use this company they are a severe disappointment.

They are they don't care about the…

They are they don't care about the welfare of your employee name Kendrick Williams talking down to his employer like they ain't nothing. And his supposed to be a the lead washer guy never trains new because it's a waste to him when asking for linen no please no thank you every morning there steal linen outside that supposed to brought in to be wash but he to the linen guy to grab the rest instead of starting on cage. The supervisors don't care as he gets job done but not it supposed to be done u have to care about the person who working for company get them interested can't even keep a new people here at new building on Calumet

Wasteful and unsafe

Our shop in southern Utah used to get fabric towels to dry our hands. The collection roller doesn't collect it properly so it becomes a trip hazard and when the roll is done it now goes to the landfill instead of being cleaned and reused. Very dissatisfied.

Marco Supply Co. in East Chicago Indiana had been a customer of UniFirst for over twenty years. We would pay their weekly invoices automatically. It was not until we hired a new comptroller who looked into how much they had increased the cost of their services over the years that we realized they were taking extreme advantage of us.
We sent a final payment and indicated we are canceling service only to find out that they are now suing us for a contract that was signed in 2016 and automatically renews!

Not Trustworthy

I interviewed at Unifirst last summer for a Customer Service job, it went well or so I thought I was shown all around introduced to the employees and shown where the Uniforms were being processed and cleaned and thought for sure I had the job, until the next morning when I got a rejection email. Couldnt believe it no reason but after reading these reviews maybe its good I didnt get the job. They are now again advertising the job I applied for.

Worst uniform company out there. They charged us $72 for two pairs of pants that finally wore a hole in the knee, after 5 years! If we wanted to buy the uniforms, we would have! & Still have unresovled issues from day 1. Being charged for items we don't have. When we called to question this, we were told they don't make mistakes!

So currently been working for a company…

So currently been working for a company who rent uniforms from this place,at first I thought they were the best around but several weeks back i been missing clothing and i have told the pick up guy and he does nothing because he blames the people that washes them,then we called and they blame the guy the pick up the uniforms,i do not know if this driver is acting stupid or the people working there,i left a note on every single pant and shirt to see if they get it,but apparently they didn’t
,maybe they need smarter people working there,just my opinion,till now still don’t have my stuff back and have to wash them my self because i dont have enough uniforms,really sucks maybe I should buy my own since i have to wash them every week

Run away as fast as you can.

I would not recommend them to do any business with. The service is subpar, my rates consistently are increasing and they have the nerve to charge $5,500 to buy out a contract. Never dealt with such lies, scams and fraud. DO NOT use them for anything.

Unifirst is unprofessional and hard to work with. I would recommend going anywhere for service but here.

We have done business with Unifirst for 5+ years, and it has been a constant fight with incorrect billing, Unifirst losing shirts or pants, and getting the correct credits given at the time of billing. I constantly am hounding them to take people off of our billing that have been GONE for months, but we are still getting billed for them. We stayed when our contract came up for renewal the first time, because our rep at the time was fantastic and always was on top of things that needed to be taken care of. Unfortunately, after renewing, we have had several other reps and the service is less than desired. Today, as an example, several things were marked for credit by the rep, but only a portion of it was applied to the total. When I talked to him about it, he said it was too late to fix it and would add the credit to the next bill. OK, but the problem is, this is an ongoing issue and I have already been told this before. I audited our account for all of 2023 to current (I did not have the time or energy to go back further) and found over $3000 in credits that are due to us. I have even sent this into their billing department and higher ups. Their answer was that the rep has to take care of it. His answer, I can't credit past bills. I am so tired of having to double check their work and keep spreadsheets of all the discrepancies on every bill, with no results. This is like being tied to the Mafia, because in order to get out of the remaining time on the contract, we would have to pay 10's of thousands. When our contract is up, we will not renew this time.

This company is so lost in what they…

This company is so lost in what they are doing. my company turned in our clothing back to this company I turned in 11 shirts and 6 jeans two of the jeans was missing there tag so now I have to pay for two pairs of jeans that they got back. This company is so out of order and not fair to all the people you have screwed over. Do not use this company they are not reliable at all they are not trustworthy there drive are payed to drive. Maybe that's why your company has a high turnover rate for your employees

The contracts are deceitful and a scam

The contracts are deceitful and a scam. I reluctantly signed a contract term and price that I wasnt comfortable with and the GM in Lexington, SC assured me it was mandatory to help them offset the cost of adding my logo to shirts. I used them for shirts for 4 employees only. The high cost and duration was to help them offset the cost of my shirts (which are basic cheap wrangler shirts). I agreed and now that my contract has come to an end, they are trying to extort me further by now making pay again for the full cost of alterations (another $2,200 for 4 employees). Because I wouldnt renew my service contract. Ive already paid 18K for the value of my contract for only shirts for 4 employees.
