Apparently the payment to receive information is a subscription to some kind of package, it is not a one time payment. However I did get help not only closing the account, but getting a refund on the payment I didn't realize would be taken out.

Helped me very quickly, whole interaction was under 5 minutes and got me straightened out.

I needed to cancel my account. I opened a chat and asked how to do that (I wasn't able to locate anything on the website or within my account). The person I chatted with did it immediately and it was done. Super smooth and fast process.

Easy site to use and James in customer service was excellent.

Here are my reasons for 2 stars.
1. I was looking for maintenance records on my vehicle and ran across their website which is crafted to look like a government run website.
2. While I’m entering my vehicle’s info and checking the multiple boxes on the website, Nothing was ever mentioned about any fees.
3. When I went to download the report I was asked to pay $1. I thought, well, it’s only a dollar and I really need this info so I paid it.
4. A few hours later, I was checking my bank account and saw where they had charged me $31 !!
5. THIS is the ONLY thing that saved them from this being a scathing 1 star review: I went back to the website and chose to live chat with an agent. There was Zero wait time and I was soon chatting with a very pleasant lady named Kimberly. I laid out my concerns to her and she Immediately issued a full refund, No questions asked. I also asked her to cancel any subscriptions or memberships I had unknowingly been charged for. The website itself is very misleading if you don’t read ALL their BS fine print. They are very sneaky in that, their website gives the impression that it’s a government run website. I was signed up for a membership and for a “Report package” without my consent. To top it off, like I said at the outset, I was looking for maintenance records on my vehicle. The report I ended up with had all the different owner’s info, open recalls and that’s about it. No MAINTENANCE RECORDS WHATSOEVER.

SO, for the website and this shady company in general, 1 star.
And For their customer service: 5 stars+.

the customer service was fantastic, the product not so much, they said it would cost one dollar for the first month, but then charged 31 at check out, that is bad tastes, but dennis was a legend
