Horrible product

Horrible product! Bought three. Arrived chipped. Need to assemble. Pieces to not line up! I did send pics!! You offered a $20 credit! Really? Do not buy! BTW, one of the frames fell apart. Needs to be glued because the plastic wood holders broke, because the pieces do not line up. Never again.

Hi John, We're very sorry to hear about your experience. We had written to you on Feb. 24th offering to help solve your problem. We are still waiting for photos we had requested but have not received anything since. If you'd like to pursue this option please email sales@customframescanada.ca. Custom frames do not come assembled due to the shipping cost - we are trying to offer our clients the lowest possible cost and sending assembled frames would add significantly to customer shipping costs. With that being said, you can request that the frame comes assembled in the notes section upon ordering your frame. We appreciate you taking the time to get back to us once you have a chance.

Absolute Garbage

Bought a frame from them only because they had the depth I needed for a wall screen, and they had a walnut finish. There is "always" a sale of 50% off "limited time" to give you a sense of urgency, when these sales never end. If you check right now, I'm sure there is a sale.. better hurry lol! This "sale" never ends, which is against the Competition Bureau of Canada under 'deceptive marketing practices'.

"Whether businesses reference their own regular price, or a market price, the Act requires that they validate the regular price by satisfying one of two tests:

Volume test: A substantial volume of the product was sold at that price or a higher price within a reasonable period of time before or after the making of the representation.

Time test: The product was offered for sale, in good faith, for a substantial period of time, at that price or a higher price recently before or immediately after the making of the representation." Neither of these bars is reached with this company - reported.

Anyways, bought the frame. When it arrives and I assembled it, the longer edge corners stuck past the shorter edge corners a good 2mm (this is a 5*7 frame). I reversed the edges, and that didn't change the issue. The corners simply are not a true 45 degree, or more likely, the stock used for the longer edges is actually wider than what's used for the short sides. Anyways, I send these guys an email right away with pictures.. no reply. Send another email 4 days later with pics asking for a refund, no reply.
I checked their "refund policy", and it states buyer has to pay to ship back, and this company will still keep 30%, which is ridiculous considering they sent out something completely unusable.

So at the end of the day the seller who sold this is out nothing for shipping either way, and keeps 30% of the sale. Based on how cheap this stuff is, seller will still make a profit even in this situation, with buyer out all the shipping costs and this fee as well. So there is ZERO incentive for them to have any sort of quality control, since they profit either way anyways.
Do yourself a favor. Just drive to a store.. Homesense.. Michael's.. heck even Ikea and get something far superior, at half the price you pay after shipping added in.

We understand the frustration with not being in store to purchase and see the frames; however, we are doing our best to provide Canadians with affordable custom frames. We feel that many of our clients appreciate this service and appreciate not having to spend two or three times more on custom frames. Beautiful Frames

I received my 3 frames and the hardware kits. The frames are beautiful, the quality of the actual frame is excellent. The frames came well packaged, wrapped very well so they would not scratch one another. Customer service tried hard to rectify the initial problems, missing hardware kits were mailed out and I just received them today.

I ordered 3 custom frames for my father’s 75th birthday. I ordered them in advance, just to be safe, even though their site claims to ship with 6-10 business days. 11 days later they shipped one of three frames. I immediately contacted customer service, I am still waiting for a reply. I have sent repeated emails and no one replies. My credit card has been charged in full and I have no idea when the other 2 frames will ship. As of now, I do not recommend this company, steer clear of them. If the situation changes, I will update my review.

I was wary after reading many reviews…

I was wary after reading many reviews but - I ordered two 8x24 walnut frames with plexiglass and foam board, along with two hardware kits. I ordered a few days before Christmas so I expected a delay. I received my plexiglass, foam board and hardware kit mid January from a company in Edmonton. Excellent quality and packaged well. My frames came a week later from the US. They were packaged extremely well, already assembled and exactly like the picture of the frame online. They’re the exact quality of any framing store that I’ve used previously. The reviews on this site are so mixed but my experience was great. I’ll definitely order again.

Ordered a custom frame which was HORRIBLE

Ordered a custom frame which was regular $355. You’d think the quality would be good for this price. It showed up as four pieces of wood unassembled, held together by tiny plastic brackets. No backing, or fastening supplies. When putting together the frame, and handling with care on carpet, the frame managed to chip from falling apart so many times. I bought L brackets to try to fasten the corners securely. The frame is horrendous quality. I emailed with pictures but did not get a response so I called. The customer service person I spoke with was awesome, and very apologetic. He suggested L brackets, which I told him I already used. He mentioned that this is what they recommend? I said no one informed me this would be needed. I then recieved an email that the frame would be replaced at not cost and sent out shortly. I was impressed with their attempt to make things right. Then, 11 days later I receive an email stating that they will only replace the damaged sides and asked me to confirm which ones were damaged. This frame was for my business so I needed it by a certain date. I responded saying surely this could have been figured out 11 days ago when discussing the issue and mentioned the date I need it by. Since then, there has been no replies and I have sent a follow up email asking if it will make it here in time. Overall, horrible experience, terrible quality and poor customer service/response time.

We expedited the shipment to ensure this happened, which from our records shows you received in time. To clarify, the cost of the frame was discounted to $177 which is much much lower than had you gone in store and purchased your custom oversized frame. Stay Away!

Extremely poor service. They send you the wrong product and they lie about reaching out to you. Do not trust these people.

Product is cheap

Product is cheap. Took ages to receive them and received only the wood frames and not the accessories packages I ordered to hang them. Blamed it on the postal strike but they sent me the frames after they stopped work. The frames aren’t properly connected together with gaps in two of the four corners. They also don’t have a google site so can’t leave a public review. Would stay away and save your money.

Hi there, we're sorry you feel this way. There was a postal strike from Nov.15-Dec.17th which was affecting our delivery at a very busy time - this was something that we could not control. We have apologized about this and sincerely regret that the strike impacted your experience. Our accessories come from a different warehouse so they are always shipped separately. We would have been more than happy to replace the frames if we had been sent pictures of the frame like we requested. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to strive to make adjustments to better serve our customers.

Stay away - Dont even bother!

Stay away! If you can get your framing done at a flea market, do it! My order was plexi, no mat, and a non assembled frame where the corners didnt align. The place I ended up going to at the flea market was half the price, you get a well made frame, glass and mat. I reached out to them when I received the frame not assembled and in few words they said .. too bad - do it yourself. Even after I asked them to send it assembled. When I finally had a chance to assemble it, none of the corners aligned. Horrible. I did reach out a second time to let them know. Still havent heard from them.

Awful customer service, no one has even bothered to reply to my email where I complained about the service I received.

Hi Lauren, We're sorry you feel this way. It is standard practice in the custom framing industry to sell frames and include plexiglass/backing as add ons (these are available in our "accessories" section). This is not something that is specific to Custom Frames Canada, but standard across all custom framing businesses. The reason for this is that many do not need backing or glass (e.g. framing a canvas). The frame does not come assembled due to the cost of shipping - we try to pass on the savings to our clients. However, if you'd like the frame to come assembled (and pay the shipping cost) you can request to do so and we will send it assembled. We appreciate your feedback and will do our best to make improvements to better serve our customers.

Total garbage

Total garbage . Do not buy. I could build this in ten minutes with a mitre saw. Horrible customer service and they won’t honor their return agreement . Total rip off and garbage quality. Look some where else.

Problem after problem after problem

I placed an order with them initially in August and just last week, in mid-November, it was finally resolved, after multiple errors on the company’s side, lack of communication, missing items, etc etc. 1. I olaced an order for three custom frames and received them as expected. 2. I ordered the plexiglass and an additional frame in a separate order because I had forgotten to order the glass with the initial order. Just getting a reply from them took weeks, I sent follow-up after follow-up. When we finally received the plexiglass and extra frame, the plexi for the fourth frame was missing… back to chasing after them. Weeks, a month, pass. We receive it and then we notice that the frame and plexi are not the same size and they made the frame the wrong size. And again at trying to reach them…This time it only took about a week and they sent it quickly. So after over 3 months, we finally received what we had initially ordered in August. No compensation for all the mishaps, nothing to make up for the fact that my order was initially supposed to be resolved in mid-September. The only reason it’s 2 star is because we eventually did get everything. Would not recommend, the low prices are NOT worth the hassle.

Great company

Great company! Lovely frame and they always have good deals going on. Affordable shipping rates as well. Make sure give get the exact measurements. I was a bit worried because my frame was 17 1/2 but they did an awesome job and it fits perfectly!
