One star is too much for this organization, it’s a absolute shambles it’s there way or no way . How can you fail a inspection on vents when work was carried out in March before the new regs came out in April.
Was told by customer that windows had failed 9 days later after lodging complaint surprise surprise got notified by Fensa.
Windows did not have vents in so could not be deemed like for like , however their photos of a bathroom window was not clear enough, however because some houses had vents and some didn’t that was good enough for them to fail it on a presumption that the windows had vents in the beginning ,my god how can that be right !!
So much money to join, that has been used to spread the lie window companies must be registered.
Never will they deglaze a fixed pane to check the distance from the weld to the fixing.
Money for old rope that has nothing to do with the quality of the install.
From June 2022 the standards have changed. So any installs before this date no longer meet current building regs,P.s I've been glazing since 1979
Used a FENSA installer for my bay window costing £4,000. The window leaks at the top from the very beginning under certain weather conditions. I complained and installer strung me along for 6 years, by sending people to "fix" it. Then they denied it was their fault. Why? Because FENSA will only deal with installations under 6 years ago even though the "guarantee" is 10 years. Posted on their Facebook site about this and my post has disappeared. About as useful as a chocolate teapot.
Do not bother with a fensa registered fitting company as fensa is a absolute joke, My windows are less than 2 years old and there is a problem with condensation between the glazing because they were fitted for the person I bought the property off the guarantee is void! So in other words they do not guarantee the workmanship at all. In my eyes this is not good practice.
I don't understand all the negative reviews. Got straight through to Fensa Advice line as I have a problem with my doors and windows and my installer has gone out of business. They had all the information to hand and were able to advise me who the company had been insured with and provide me with contact number. The lady on the other line was lovely and knowledgeable. Absolutely A++++ service - without making the call to Fensa I would never have known about my warranty insurance and would have had to fork out extra money to get the problem fixed. Thanks FENSA!
Was trying to register a customers details but automated system did not have correct address.
Phone at FENSA was answered on first ring, and problem was sorted immediately by a very helpful woman called Heather; she waited whilst I typed in the details and she manually changed address. Great service.
What is the point of FENSA they do nothing . I asked for help for my problems with Anglian . No help at all
Passed the buck
FENSA ARE USELESS.
I have contacted Fensa about an ‘approved’ window fitter who replaced a bedroom window. The window did not meet fire regs (was not classed as an escape window). Fensa are staying it’s not to do with them - so far I’m on their third excuse - as they change every email. FENSA are absolute cowboys and cannot be relied upon in anyway. Don’t use them. The Window fitter also - a joke and a waste of time.
ABSOLUTELY AWFUL ITS A TOTAL CON AND LETS DOWN THE PEOPLE ITS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT. IF YOUR FITTER BLARES OUT THEY ARE FENSA REGISTERED IT MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY AWFUL AND USE THEIR OWN AFFILIATED SURVEYORS TO BACK UP THEIR SHODDY FITTERS. READ YOUR FENSA CERTIFICATE THAT BASICALLY SAYS THIS CERTIFICATE DOES NOT MEAN THE WINDOWS COMPLY IT IS JUST A PIECE OF PAPER TO SAY THEY HOPE THAT IT COMPLIES BUT OFFER NOTHING TO SAY IT DOES. IT DOES NOT STOP COWBOYS AND IS OFTEN ABUSED BY THEM BY CLAIMING THAT YOU HAVE A CAST IRON FENSA GUARANTEE. YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, SO WHEN YOUR SHODDY WINDOWS START FALLING APART THEY WILL TELL YOU THAT IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND YOU SHOULD GO BACK TO THE SHODDY PEOPLE WHO INSTALLED THEM. ALMOST NONE OF THE COMPANIES WHO ARE FENSA REGISTERED GET INSPECTIONS AND THE INSPECTIONS THAT ARE CARRIED OUT ARE POINTLESS. HOW CAN THE INSPECTORS NOT NOTICE THE WINDOWS HAVE NOT BEEN SEALED OR THAT THEY ARE TWISTED AND BOWING. THE INSPECTIONS ARE ABSOLUTELY POINTLESS SO YOU WOULD BE BETTER TO GET YOUR LOCAL AUTHORITY BUILDING CONTROL TO INSPECT THEM.
Had windows installed had a representative from Fensa. What a joke told him the windows not installed correctly had draughty windows from day one all he said was the glass has the correct markings and left. This is supposed to be a government backed scheme all it comprises is a logo no help whatsoever they I have complained to them they have asked for evidence which I have given them a report from manufacturers and another company have confirmed the windows are draughty will be contacting a minister in government with my complaint
Taken my money and no reply back after 12 weeks of paying + still awaiting a refund.
WASTE OF TIME!!
Contacted FENSA to try to expedite issue if certs for newly installed DG due to house sale. Spoke with Lewis and couldn't have been more helpful. Sent EMail to confirm instal had been registered and certs were being processed.
Brilliant
Thanks Lewis
I rang to treble check something about FENSA today.
Though I knew the answer but needed it from the horses mouth.
Spoke with a very helpful and polite gent named Lewis.
He knew what he was talking about and polite.
It makes a big difference if someone you talk to knows what they are talking about, polite. This helps with the process even if the answers you get will not help you as it's the honesty, accuracy and delivery that counts.
Thank you.
FENSA is an absolute waste of time. They refuse to issue a certificate because my property is not listed on the Land Registry. The Land Registry does not list ALL properties only those sold after it was set up and I have owned mine for 47 years long before the Land Registry came into being. I have tried to contact them by phone and email but the do not even have the decency to acknowledge my communications. I cannot find any information on their web site to say who is in charge or who to complain to about them. This organisation is an absolute disgrace and someone should be able to do something about them but who? It does say that they are part of the Glass Glazing Federation group but does that mean anything.
I must add that I can thoroughly recommend my contractor, Yate Windows, who did an excellent job on this installation and all the otheers they have done for me over the last 30 years or more.
I contacted fensa after the installer failed to register the installation. It took me 17 emails with fensa to sort it. I have given 3 stars because it was sorted in the end but it was hard work!! Their level of customer service is not great.
Why is this organisation still running. IMO, it's an industry cover to validate it's cowboy builders; set up a company, put in a rubbish installation, issue FENSA certificate, dissolve company, no comeback on anyone. register a new company and repeat.. For any validity, should insist the installers provide full insurance to back their work for the 10 year period, even when they go out of business/bust. I doubt building inspectors even check an installation, certainly not our, could see out to daylight between the window panel and the frame.
I have approached FENSA head office, repeatedly, over the last week or so requesting they confirm what the latest version of their ‘Guide for Compliance with Building Regulations in England and Wales for Replacement Doors and Windows in Dwellings’ and they absolutely refuse to confirm what version they are up to. I also asked that they send me the latest version so they sent me Edition 3 dated April 2014 which they know I am aware of. I have pointed out that there must be a later version because it refers to Building Regulations and Edition 3 will now be 6 years out of date! This is supposed to be the umbrella organisation to a whole FENSA industry and this level of incompetency at the top doesn’t reflect well on FENSA. Customer Services seems unable to answer an explicit question - what are they hiding?
I recently had a FENSA contractor install a composite door at my house.
The work was sub standard and they left a 10mm gap under the door.
I naturally wanted to contact FENSA to tell them about their contractor, however after nearly 3 weeks of trying to get into contact and actually getting anything moving, I gave up!!!
There is no direct email address for FENSA, just a contact form on their website that is clearly not monitored. I sent six messages via this contact form. Not one reply In three weeks.
The main phone number always diverts to a answer phone which won't take any messages because it is full.
Their website is a joke, with spammy third party pop up adverts on it and no clear or relevant contact information. No complaints procedure outlined either.
Rather than looking professional it looks and feels like something a 13 year old website design student has knocked up on their lunch break.
I had to message them via Facebook messenger, after two days I got a response. I explained my situation, they said I had to register my door with them for them to do anything.
Daft thing is that the door cannot be registered as by their own flawed rules it contains less than 50% glass!
In a nut shell I need to register my door with them in order for them to start helping me, but their own rules prevent this. Totally ludicrous!
I pointed this out to them, and they have resorted to ignoring me as it is clearly too much to deal with.
(Also makes me wonder how an OAP who is not on Social Media would get hold of them?)
This company is completely useless and not fit for purpose. Do not use this company or any of the contractors it endorses otherwise you'll end up in a big heap of mess.
A FENSA badge doesn't mean jack!
It's clearly there to give the uneducated public a false sense of security that the contractors they are using are governed by an Organisation with stringent standards. That is not the case at all. Any BoZo half wit dodgy glazing firm with £150 can pay FENSA to be be registered to trick the general public into thinking they are legit.
Instead look for double glazing with CERTASS membership, they do exactly the same thing but are 100% better.
I will be reporting FENSA to trading standards as they are unfit for purpose and the Government needs to intervene and stop this organisation from giving the Public the image that they are somehow a decent governing body for glazing installers when in reality they are amateur organisation who are totally toothless to stop rogue and dodgy contractors putting FENSA badges on their van then ripping off the public with shoddy work.
They give the public total false hope.
I wanted to give them a no star review, as they are sub-par poor.
Avoid them like the plague.
This dreadfull company have poor customer service, not answering on emails and phones, once the phone was anwered the sound was interrupted and disconnected after short while. My windows was installed by FENSA registered company, but they never bothered to register this installation and refused when I asked to do so. I tried to register it myself on theirs website and order certificate but it is impossible. Later tried to contact FENSA directly and it is not possible also. Currently when I need to sell my flat I need a certificate. I think FENSA should be dissolved because they not meet the standards of customer service! Why government is tied with such rubbish as FENSA, it is a fraud!
I honestly do not understand what the point of FENSA is. I thought that FENSA was a badge of trust with some consumer protection built in, it seems not. Not worth the paper it is written on, it is just a boys club that anyone can pay to join. The staff at FENSA are dismissive with copy and paste responses and poor attitudes.
