If theirs an emergency I guess their plan is to let you die

DO NOT TRUST THEM

Currently renting a property in Lincoln City OR for a month so I can stay in a clean place near the hospital while recovering from life altering brain surgery. Specifically chose this location because their are concerns that during my recovery I can suffer an attack that will kill me if I can't reach the ER within a few minutes.

Cell service is non existent but the wifi was strong so I wasn't concerned about being stranded without access to medical services, until the wifi went down completely 2 hours after check in. We've called the office repeatedly over the past four days to explain the situation and have been assured someone will 'reach out soon' before not receiving a follow up and needing to repeat the process the next day. This morning they sent a maintenance technician out who verified services weren't working and then just left. After that experience I wrapped my head in fifty layers of bandages so nothing would slide out and made my way into town so I could, once again, call the office to ask what can be done. They've assured me they were contacting the owner to discuss upgrading the service package, a phone call which has taken all day and has no chance of being made until at least tomorrow morning (I know its unlikely and Ill probably have to wait at least a few more days before someone in their office decides to dial a number, but let a dying man have his fantasies)

During all of this I am attempting to cooperate with the company, asking to be moved to any available property in town that have working services at least until this property is restored. I can understand why that request may be difficult to fulfill, according to their website they only have 36 different locations available nearby for check in right now as I write this review. I more than ever understand how precious time is, it was presumptuous of me to assume something as intensive as booking us in another property for a night or two could be handled a mere hour before office hours were over. I truly cant apologies enough to the employees who have had to deal with me; during one of the (many) calls we've made I got a bit emotional and said "I'm not trying to be a pain man, this isn't just me being a hysterical guest and I'd usually just enjoy the beach but I'm just really f*ng scared and I need to be able to call an ambulance if something happens" to which he asked me to watch my language, I can completely understand why that may have been traumatizing for him

All in all I highly recommend this rental company for any other 26 year old terminally ill cancer patients who's idea of a great vacation is laying in bed completely isolated from everyone you know with no tv, no cell service, no internet and no way to contact anyone if they feel the reaper is standing at the foot of their bed. Personally nothing says rest and relaxation more than falling asleep to nothing but your own thoughts on mortality and the sound of your mom crying in the next room. It's certainly been a unique experience wondering if you're going to die seizing in a bed that's not your own, desperately trying to make a call you know isn't going to go through. My one saving grace in all of this is that at least the home is very comfortable, so my mother who's flew all the way from Philadelphia to see her son in a condition no parent should ever have to see their child in, a woman who is half my size and would be completely helpless to move me if something happens, can cry herself to sleep in a comfortable bed if I stroke out tonight

If you're looking for a cool spot to visit while in town I highly recommend the local McDonalds, its a very relaxing environment to recover from surgery in and the cell service has been fantastic. Best of all the manager gave me a free diet coke while I took my time and wrote out this review with jittery half paralyzed fingers. Given the circumstances I was considering just sleeping in the ball pit here so I could at least call for an ambulance if I needed it, but the environment is a little dirty for my fresh surgical wounds so Im gonna take my life in my own hands and head back to the rental, good night everyone please wish me luck (for clarity I mean with the rental company, the cancer might take me out in a few months but apparently I have more immediate threats to my life to contend with)

Additional concerns: Ants, broken smoke detector, oven, dish washer and fans

4/26: Internets finally back up

4/27: Well that was short lived, nets down again

4/28: I guess they finally got sick of us. My father got agitated and mouthed off to the employee on the phone (I cant blame him at this point), woke up an email telling us to get out by noon or they'd be contacting the authorities. I'm sure they will use legalese as a shield but this experience has been a joke

Lacks Customer Service Skills

During my recent stay at one of their properties in Big Bear, I found its location undeniably advantageous, offering convenient access to nearby access to the village, lake, and breathtaking views. This, however, was a highlight of an otherwise challenging experience. Regrettably, the property itself seemed in need of significant attention and maintenance. Several essential amenities, including the dishwasher, ice maker/leaking fridge, trash compactor, gas range (only 2 of 5 ranges worked), fireplace in the upper unit not functioning (requiring wood supplied by maintenance), and heater, were not functioning properly during my stay. Additionally, there was a continuous issue with the running toilet, which added to the discomfort. What compounded these inconveniences was the level of customer service encountered. The response to our concerns, particularly from the front desk, lacked the empathy and professionalism one would expect. The staff's approach felt dismissive, which did not align with the hospitality standards that ensure a welcoming and comfortable stay for guests. While I recognize the potential of lakefront property due to its stellar location, my experience underscores a pressing need for property maintenance and customer service improvements. A more proactive and guest-focused approach could enhance the overall experience, making it a place where guests appreciate the location and feel valued and well-cared for. The rating is mainly due to poor customer service. FYI - do expect a quick response from Big Bear office. I contacted the main number and only sent me to voice mail.

A Good Experience in Palm Desert CA

We rented a condo in Palm Desert, California February and March of 2024. We rented it sight unseen except for pictures. We rented through Meredith Lodging.
The condo was very clean and exactly as advertised.
Soon after our arrival we noticed there was no hot water and the TV did not work.
We contacted Meredith Lodging right away.
They responded very quickly and within a few hours we had new hot water heater and the maintenance GM even connected us to his streaming account so we could have TV service until it could be repaired.
If you want to enjoy a true hassle free, worry free vacation we would highly recommend Meredith Lodging! Their entire staff was so friendly and accommodating!
We just rented through Meredith Lodging again for
2025.
We can't say enough about Meredith Lodgings commitment to making our vacation so enjoyable.
Their guest service is outstanding!

We made a reservation for Lincoln City…

We made a reservation for Lincoln City North Jetty house in February 2024. We reserved this particular house because of the Hot Tub that is the first picture to advertise the house. I have very bad arthritis and no access to one at home. Two days before our trip we received an email saying the hot tub was not working. "Sorry for the inconvenience" So we immediately cancelled the reservation to try and find a place that had a hot tub available. They charged me $612.04 and are refusing to refund me now because I cancelled too late. They never told me I would still be charged. I trusted since the main attraction on the house wasn't available it was a given I would be refunded.

I sent a email letter in at the request of the rep that told me a manager wasn't available to request an exception. Praying this company does the right thing. With this economy $612 means alot.

We empathize with your situation and understand the importance of the hot tub to your overall experience. We did note your cancellation upon learning about the hot tub issue, and we were more than willing to refund the hot tub fee as a gesture of goodwill. Unfortunately, since your reservation was nonrefundable per the signed rental agreement, management will not authorize a refund. We understand that this news may be disappointing, and not the resolution you were hoping for however, this matter has been marked closed in our system at this time.

Cute home but terrible management

We recently rented a home in Manzanita OR through Airbnb which was hosted by Meredith Lodging. We were so disappointed with our experience. When we arrived we first noticed a broken window shade on a large picture window covering the view. We then tried to start the propane fireplace so our mom could warm up. It didn’t work. Next we tried to heat some water in the kettle on the stove and it didn’t work either. We called for maintenance which took over an hour, but he couldn’t fix anything and said the property was out of propane. We couldn’t use the stove and had to eat dinner and breakfast out. We also noticed grease splattered on the wall behind the stove, hair in the sink in primary bath and makeup on the sheets. The host felt that an $81 refund was sufficient to cover restaurant meals for our party of 5 which is ridiculous. Airbnb was very limited in the help they could offer and Meredith clearly doesn’t care. We have since seen many Meredith Lodging reviews with bad experiences very similar to ours, even including others with empty propane tanks. It’s astounding that they don’t appear to have a system in place for regular replenishment of a critical fuel. Telling us a propane delivery was missed -after we checked in and discovered the problem- does not absolve them of responsibility. We will never rent from Meredith Lodging again. The home was cute and comfortable but desperately needs better management.

No propane and house was dirty

Our visit started with a broken shade blocking the view on the large picture window facing the ocean. We were unable to cook/use the stove or the fireplace. We called for maintenance and he showed up about an hour later and said he couldn’t fix anything and the property was out of propane. We couldn’t use the stove and had to eat dinner out and breakfast out the next morning (an extra $300 spent). We also noticed grease splattered on the wall in the kitchen behind the stove, hair in the sink in master bath and makeup on the sheets. We paid $350 for the night and were completely disappointed. Not to mention that we were disgusted by the lack of cleanliness. Meredith Lodging thought an $81 refund, was acceptable, it's not. I have since seen many reviews about no propane, stinky towels, dog poop in the house, etc. This is not the way to do busines, Meredith Lodging.

I had a wonderful stay at the Sasquatch…

I had a wonderful stay at the Sasquatch Lodge. Everything is so close, like a bigfoot distance. Including the golf course with which the home is located behind in Waldport . Dare I say "What a Bigfoot experience". The homeowner went above and beyond with his home with their attention to deatils and every little touch put into the house. The owner mentioned this home has future updates specifically a hot tub, we will be back for a biggerfoot experience for sure! What a BigFoot stay!

DO NOT WORK WITH THESE PEOPLE!! They are complete and utter LIARS. Completely rude and unhelpful. i asked ONE question when renting a big expensive house, if there was a hot tub. she said yes. then an hour before our arrival she let us know that it's not working due to the weather. I brought in my own mechanic who said that there are a lot of things broken and it couldnt happen in one day from bad weather. they we're so rude about. didn't let us switch or fix it. she told me that she would compensate $75 for the hot tub fee. then afterwards pretended like she didn't know what I was talking about.

No propane in the house.

No propane in the house. Couldn’t cook. Had to use a small electric stove in the guest house and transport hot food in the freezing, icy conditions to the main house. Meredith didn’t seem to care. Two heaters broken in the guest house. Meredith said weather was bad so I needed to fix them myself. Home not well maintained. We won’t be using Meredith again.

Amazing home, great experience!

Booking was a breeze, customer service was amazing, price was incredible, and the home I stayed in was clean and beautiful. I’ll never book my vacation home with any company. Kudos Meredith Lodging! They’re also local which was incredibly helpful during check in when we got lost due to google maps leading us astray.

Don't rent the "Beach Haven"

Terrible customer service and false advertising:

My girlfriends and I arrived at the "Beach Haven" property for a 3 night stay. When we arrived, we found that the exterior of the home looked a little neglected. There were dead hanging plants - like the place hadn't been used for a while. We also found that our key code did not work. My friend was on the phone for at least 20 minutes trying to resolve this - not sure what the mix up was, or why it was so complicated. After trying various codes that did not work, we were finally given an "emergency" code that worked. Upon entry, we noticed a very musty/moldy/mildew smell. We immediately went to open some windows to air the place out; however, there are no operable windows in the main living area of the home, except for one in the kitchen. We opened that window, and turned on the heat to try and mitigate the mildew smell while we were waiting for our other friend to arrive. We waited about 40 minutes for our other friend to arrive, and in that time, both my friend and I were experiencing symptoms from the air in the home. I've been tested, and no I am allergic to mold. I was coughing and sneezing, and noticed my friend was also having symptoms, at which point, we decided that we could not stay there, and proceeded to make other arrangements. Also, the description of the home said it had a gas fireplace, which it does not. Sitting around the fire is something we enjoy during storm season at the beach. The home does NOT have a gas fireplace - this should be corrected in the description. Also, it appears that the owners have left most of their food in the cabinets (not appropriate for a rental). We asked for a full refund, and were denied.

We are sorry there was an issue with the door code, but we are glad our team was able to help you gain entry to the home. When contacted about possible mold, we immediately sent a member of our management team to inspect the home and the tests concluded there was no evidence of mold in the home. We provided the results of the mold testing to your group and were told you were checking out despite the information we provided. We also checked the house description and it says wood-burning fireplace, not gas, but we are sorry for any misunderstanding or confusion.

We are sorry to hear your experience with Meredith Lodging this time around was less than exemplary; however, due to the above-mentioned reasons and our cancellation policy, which was agreed to upon booking, management has concluded that no refund or compensation is due.

Do not book with Meredith Lodging Oregon Coast

I rented a home in Arch Cape called the Beach Haven managed by Meredith Lodging for myself and 3 friends to enjoy our annual get-together. Our stay was to be check in on 10/9/2023 (Monday) and check out on 10/12/2023 (Thursday).

Our excitement about the location of the home right on the beach and in a quaint neighborhood was quickly overtaken by severe allergic reactions of 2 members of our group within the first 30-40 minutes of being in the home. We realized the home had mold issues (not visible) and we immediately (within an hour and 15 minutes) vacated the premises and returned it to the same state we found it in upon entry.

I called Meredith Lodging at 2:13p.m. and explained we could not stay in the home due to severe mold/allergic reactions upon being in the home for less than 1 hour. They seemed understanding and said someone would call me in the next few minutes. No alternative arrangements were offered. No follow up phone call was made by Meredith Lodging.

We had to pay in full for our rental of the Beach Haven in the amount of $1,195.97. I asked for a full refund since we could not stay in the home. It is musty smelling and anyone could verify that. Mold is dangerous and can cause illness.

Meredith Lodging emailed a cancellation confirmation. Further communications beginning the next day ended in Meredith Lodging denying there was any issue and denying any refund of our stay.

We found alternative arrangements at the Waves in Cannon Beach, which fortunately had an opening to accommodate our party.

Meredith Lodging should fully disclose the home is musty-smelling in their advertising ( a sign of mold). Had we known it had moisture issues, and had we known it did not have a gas fireplace as advertised, we would not have rented the home. We knew the home is dated and we had no problem with that, but it was not a place we could stay.

Meredith Lodging is renting a home with very little vacation rental preparation. Owner supplies are still in the home (more than what is normal for a vacation rental) and the house was sticky (chair backs, cabinet pulls, etc.) Clearly if someone, in this case TWO people had a severe allergic reaction, there is a problem and we should receive a FULL refund. We could not stay there and had to find alternative arrangments.

Our stay was quite interesting

Our stay was quite interesting. As the day went on we discovered more. The carpet is disgusting and needs replaced. It needs thoroughly cleaned, kitchen included. The downstairs bathroom by sink and toilet needs a "step down" marker. Please remove all duct tape and fix the problem. Linens need checked or replaced. The great room couch has a broken frame. Ottoman is useless. Window tracks need cleaned + screens. Drywall by sinks in bathroom have disintegrated. Lights above shower doesn't work.

Can't tell you how disappointed we were. Yes we could of called but we shouldn't have to. Don't really understand how the cleaning crew thought this was an ok property to rent out.

We have rented from you in the past and haven't had this many problems. It doesn't do Meridith Lodging a bit of good to have this property.

These were not cosmetic updates that could of been fixed in just an hour. We did not find all of these at once. It took the length of the stay 4 days. Plus you shouldn't be renting out a place like this to anyone. That's my complaint. Your cleaning/ maintenance crew should have told you that. Do you actually have management that goes through each of your rentals on a sceduled visit?. This is a breach of contract and false advertising.

Use another rental agency like Vacasa for your stay.

I have been a loyal client of Meredith Lodging for several years now and am surprised with my latest experiennce. There are many rentals to choose from but I chose a Meredith Lodging home. The code to the house was never right so I could not lock the door when leaving, access to the house was blocked due to construction and there was construction at my home and next door starting from 7:20 in the morning. They should have told me before spending the money to rent the home. This was not the vacation I needed.

Hi Marjorie. We value your patronage, and are sorry to hear you were not satisfied with you recent stay. Unfortunately, we were not notified of the road closure, so we could not relay this to you, and although we understand the construction taking place around the home negatively impacted your stay, this is not something we could control. Our agent did provide you with another door code to enter the home, but we were not made aware of issues locking the door when leaving. We understand this was not the rental experience you had hoped for, and do apologize that factors outside of our control ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing getaway. We can only hope we have the opportunity to provide you with a better rental experience in the future.

Canadians beware of Meredith lodging

I wanted to share my experience with MEREDITH LODGING but after reading other reviews my experience seems trivial in comparison but nonetheless equally annoying. So I will only leave you with a warning. WATCH YOU CREDIT CARD. I had to block them to guard against unauthorized charges.

Show me the pictures.
I asked for proof but you did not respond yet you say significant damage, which sounds like an exaggeration. Since you won't show me the pictures I asume you are not being truthful and I have trust issues with that.
But never feer my dearie I will not be renting from you again anyway and I advise all Canadian to do the same.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Would never use anything connected to Meredith ever again.

A cozy little cabin in the woods

Wallace Cottage was a cozy little cabin in the woods. Customer service attentive when needed. A little more attention to detail to receive 5 stars for the price! Screens on all upstairs windows for ventilation. Full propane tank for grill. Unclog bathroom sink. Attention to outdoor surroundings/yard. Overall enjoyed our stay.
