Great value breakfast
As we walked in to the toby carvery in eastbourne we were welcomed within seconds of entering. The price for breakfast was more than reasonable. We opted for the reffilable pepsi max aswell. Great selection of food for breakfast. My only criticism is the black pudding was over cooked and the eggs had no yokes. Would definetly recommend for a fast, convenient and affordable breakfast.

been loads of times and seen over the last few years the meat portions are hardly there and the veg is either not cooked properly or is cold, the price for a carvery is rediculous for so little meat, cheaper to get a peace of gammon at tesco and cook your own roast
AINTREE, LIVERPOOL - Made out to feel like a criminal for borrowing two FORKS!
My friend and I went to collect some takeout Toby Carvery when we realised we'd forgotten to bring a couple forks with us. And so, I decided to go inside and borrow a couple of folks. I paid a visit to the toilet and when I came out to collect my meal I was Spanish Inquisitioned by the female concierge/welcomer while surrounded by other staff as to why we'd "stolen" two forks. She said we had to pay for them and was asked to put them back. I left in anger and disgust as to how I was spoken to and treated. I decided to take two wooden forks from KFC across the road - no issue with them at all! Toby Carvery must really value their stainless steel forks like gold! I really think they should consider how they speak to and treat customers in the future. I was ousted from the restaurant and made to feel like a common criminal for borrowing two bloody stainless steel folks that I was going to return after we'd finished our meals. Unacceptable! If you're going to order takeout at Aintree, remember to take forks or go to KFC otherwise you'll be treat like a common thief by the Aintree staff!
WATERGATE CHARGES FULL PRICE MEALS FOR UNDER 2's 😱
I had booked breakfast at Watergate, Bolton for me and my niece. My niece brought her toddler granddaughter, who is 23 months old.
We hadn't been to this location before, but have enjoyed many many great experiences at Crompton Way over many years with various family groups including babies and children.
At this Toby, there was no option for our baby other than a "99p bowl of toast and jam".
We were told that if our baby wanted to have breakfast food, we would be charged at full price.
We were also told that if we fed the baby any food from our own plates, WE WOULD BE CHARGED FOR AN ADDITIONAL FULL MEAL.
No child rate, no small plate rate, no common sense, no smiles, no customer service, no interest from the staff - it was a take it or leave it attitude!
Needless to say, we decided not to stay and, we had a lovely breakfast experience at Pine Tree Farm across the road.
I have to say that there were only about 6-8 customers in Watergate whereas The Pine Tree Farm was virtually full 😕 .
Ainsworth Arms Bury. So poor.
Ainsworth Arms. Bury.
Don’t normally leave bad reviews about food. But this is so poor that I have to. Where to start.
Presentation of the food on the hot plates. Dirty and half empty pans. Looked very scruffy.
The Mac n Cheese was Mac n Hard. Solid pasta hardly any cheese.
Mash. Was freezing and like plaster.
Roast potato’s was so hard we couldn’t cut them. Never mind eat them.
Then the staff. Well one waitress. Very sarcastic. Wife asked her a question and her response was so rude. I should have complained when I was there but in reality I just wanted to go home and eat my dogs tea as it looked better than what was on offer there.

Terrible experience Eden Park
EDEN PARK BECENHAM
Just an awful experience
Booked a table for 6 for mums 92nd birthday. Explained she was in a wheelchair and could we not have any stairs.
Got email confirmation, text reminder during the day.
On arrival we were told no booking.
I showed the person my booking, she said that was taken off, no reason.
I asked why, she said I don’t know. I explained it mum birthday and it’s been quite hard getting her here.
She said I can try to find you a table, which she did….. however she said I need it back in 1 hour. I said look that’s not acceptable we have two children with us. She said it’s our policy that guests over a party of 6 only have the table for 1.5 hours anyway. I said look that’s isn’t in this conformation emai, well it’s our rule she said. I asked for the manger, she replied that’s me.
At this point my daughter just said to me just take the table and sit down we won’t move when they ask us too. Which we did.
The server we had was great.
But the way we were treated really spoiled the whole experience for us. I/ we won’t ever go there again, I would not recommend this place to anybody.

I went to the Toby Carvery near Maidstone
I went to the Toby Carvery near Maidstone Kent UK and found the Carvery o be a very good meal food was plentiful and the all of very good quality. The staff were friendly and helpful. The price was also a very good price for a plate overflowing with great food.
Food Cold
Food Cold
Dry, potato slice not cooked, Stuffin over cooked and dry, Took along time to be served only 2 people waiting,
Rude staff & cold food
Langley Toby. The staff are the most miserable and unfriendly and rude I have ever encountered.
I had a king size and all I received was small bits of turkey and not one single slice.
The vegetables were all cold. The potatoes were also dried up and cold. I got 2 burnt sausages. The chef was also missing in action for at least 10 minutes.
Cant think of anything good
Cant think of anything good. Went to the place first time today. Late opening. Food was crap. A lorry drivers cafe would have been better. One customer spent the whole time with his phone on his shoulder talking loudly. That was bad enough but the music playing. The eggs looked like an army canteen botch and the food was in trays 20 years old! No scrambled eggs. Left feeling queasy. I think they had cooked it the night before.? Never again. It doesn't deserve the 'Toby' name.

Disappointing
We had a table booked for 12 noon for 8 people. 7 had carveries. One had a pie. Those who had carveries queued as you would expect but by the time they got to the counter there was little choice left. No mashed potato. No broccoli. Very little stuffing and carrots. The one person who ordered the pie wasn't told it would be at the counter so after we had our carvery he was still queuing to collect it. Very poor communication and poor choices as so much food had run out. We booked early and hoped to enjoy a family lunch together but this was far from what we expected. Very poor show Toby Carvery. Thought you would do better.
Not worth the convenience
This carvery is quite close to home, so we decided to go there with a friend. Access was easy, we were early by about 1/2 an hour, but that was no problem. A pleasent young lady took our drinks order and we wen to get served at the carvery.
Whilst in the queue, I noticed a young lady wanted lamb, but the the tail end of what was left. The carver was unhelpful to her, and said "I have to finish the old before I can start the new" and refused to give her fresh lamb, so she declined, and had turkey instead. There was probably less than a portion of the old left.
Steve, our friend wanted the Lamb as well, and got the same attitude and answer, so had something else. Chris was ok with the beef. When it came to me, I wanted the beef, and asked if I could have some of the beef fat that was beginning to pile on the side of the carvery stand. I was told, quite abruptly, that "You will get what is given". No attempt to b polite, no reason given, just that! Not what I was expecting to be honest!
The food was ok, but the roasties were a bit soggy - perhaps that had been out for too long. Don't know.
All in all, not a satisfactory meal or experience!
Disappointing Sunday lunch
I ordered a lunch and picked it up. I ordered stuffing with it and it was missing, the roast potatoes were inedible and the gravy was freezing cold.
Very disappointing
We went to the Toby carvery at Aintree, we were very disappointed with the carvery. We had to wait 3-4 minutes before a chef came out to serve. Then to see that the food was cold and items missing.
The chef carried on serving people without requesting for new dishes and the queue for extras was building up, and the food was cold.
The premises was not busy, and staff walked past several times ignoring the dirty plates on our table after we had finished, we had to call a member of staff over after 20 minutes to clear the table and take a dessert order.
Very disappointing!!!!!
Such a shame
Shame as i live a good toby but it has become such slow service at many of the places. Badgers mount is one of the worst i have been to for it. It took over 45 mins to get a desert last time we went and being disabled it is very hard to stand in a queue for almost n hour for the carvery itself 😢
Went T/C sutton rd maidstone
Went T/C sutton rd maidstone. It was unbearably hot in there I was almost passing out. Had leave halfway through meal go outside cool of . This was evening during week no where near full. No air con awful. Not staff fault . Just bad set up there. It's fire hazard waiting to happen there.
Bad food, worse service.
This is for the restaurant in Bedford. I'm gonna start at the beginning. I booked a table for 3 to celebrate my wife's birthday. The morning of the booking I called and asked if I brought a cake, would they bring it out for me with lit candles. The person I spoke to over the phone was very enthusiastic about this. She took my details and wrote notes. Informed me of the duty managers name and said he'll take care of me.
That evening I get there and well clearly you put your grumpy staff on. At the welcome desk the duty manager takes my cake shows no excitement or enthusiasm and says I'll put it in the fridge. Our server is nice enough, takes our order however doesn't ask if we've been here before (I haven't) so I have no idea where to go for the drinks or food.
I get to the food and the chef is all kinds of miserable. Slamming meat on the plate. The food was the worst Toby carvery I've ever had. Hard roasties and lumpy mash. Stale Yorkshires and flavourless Mac n cheese. Oh and very dry meat. We all left half a plate.
The server who collected our plates sighed when my wife said she didn't want dessert.... We have cake.
I asked a server about my cake. I gave 24 candles I was not expecting all the candles but only 4 were used. The box ripped open so it's hard to put the remains of the cake back in the box. The server did sing happy birthday and just stopped before the end. None of her colleagues joined her. While I'm not expecting your entire business to stop what it's doing to come sing happy birthday I would expect more effort when I've seen it done at other sites. It doesn't take that much effort and yet it can make someone's evening. This extremely lackluster approach showed zero care for the customer. At other points during the evening while trying to eat my horrible dinner. A chef was moaning to a customer about his long hours and the job in general. Very very loudly. Two servers were moaning about the 'boys in the kitchen' not doing anything.
When we wanted to pay and leave I looked around and I couldn't see any staff. My wife pointed out we can pay using the QR code on the table and I did.
Once paid we got up and left still not seeing any staff. As I got outside I noticed a door which led to the bar section was wide open and 4 members of staff including the duty manager were all stood there having a cigarette/vape break. Basically standing in the doorway where food and drink is served because it was raining outside. I'm pretty sure you don't want your staff having these kinds of breaks in a food serving area and would much rather than be doing it somewhere or back and especially not all at the same time when there are customers who are in the building.
The food was bad but the service was terrible. No one wants to be there and they are making that known. I will never ever set foot in this Toby carvery again and I will think twice before I go to another one. Just not good enough. It ruined what was supposed to be a lovely birthday evening instead it left sour tastes in our mouths.
What an amazing place
What an amazing place, Bolton, Crompton Way is by far the best Toby Carvery we have been to. Rosh, makes it superb every time we visit. My mum is 98, he always gives us the same table near the carvery and our drinks are always waiting on the table for us. Mesha is great and so is Abby. You can't fault the food and service. My mum also got a free meal for her 98th birthday, thank you guys for making our weekly visit amazing.
